How to unlock the Hometowner achievement in Lake - Definitive Guide

If you finished the game and didn't get this ending, go to the menu and press continue. You will have to replay the last 20-25 minutes and then when you talk to Frank on the 15th day tell him:

"Yes I want to wear it a bit longer"

You will get the achievement before the end credits.

I really wish the devs allowed you to skip dialog. Seeing the same 25 minute cutscenes back to back three times was a bit tedious.

Just wanted to add that if you accidently say you want to leave to Frank, you can still get this achievement by succumbing to Robert's charms at his big gesture ;)

Jeez, who decided this autosave system? Left in the RV first, then reloaded and it didn't even reload into Sunday which would have been tedious enough going through the diner scenes two more times, no it put me back to Saturday with a bunch of deliveries to do all over again as well...

JOHN SWFC, which is why you manually save after you make your deliveries.

Also, i want to add, if you romanced Angie, you have to tell her (rather rudely) to go on her own. Otherwise you still get the RV ending.

SPOILERS

This game has 3 endings. This achievement will pop when you choose to keep the uniform a while longer while you talk with your boss on September 15th.

In a cut scene you will be driving your stepvan and you'll be stopped to ask to stay. After the dialogue mentioning you are staying, this achievement will pop up at the beginning of the end credits.

A little extra setup earlier in the game makes it easier to get all three endings quickly without doing a full replay.

When you have a chance to speak to Lori about the RV on the 11th day (Thursday) ask her if the camper can stay there for a little while - tell her she can tinker with it.

MAKE A SAVE after your last delivery on the 13th Day (Saturday), before you head back to the post office.

You won’t actually need to make this choice until the 15th Day (Monday), despite what you may or may not have told the NPC’s during your journey.

Talk to Frank on the Monday. He’ll ask if you’re staying, seeing as how you’re still wearing the coat.

Tell him:
“Yes, I want to wear it a bit longer”

A cut scene or two will follow. The trophy will unlock at the start of the end credits

Once you’re back at the main menu, select continue and you will only need to replay the Saturday Evening and Open mic Night before making a different choice for another ending.

NOTE 1: if you’ve forgotten to make a save, it’s no big deal, the game should have made an Autosave at some point on that Saturday, so you won’t need to do much more than re-complete the days deliveries.

NOTE 2: I can’t say for certainty whether you miss the ‘Free Spirit’ ending if you offer the RV to Lori on Thursday instead of keeping it. The game is really good with freedom of choice and changing your mind. If someone figures out a definitive answer, I’ll update this guide, but until then best to play it safe and hang on to the RV if you want this trophy.

MISSABLE

This is one of 3 endings available in the game. You can get all 3 on the same playthrough so long as you make a manual save to reload. You'll want to save at the end of the workday (before you return to the Post Office) on September 13th. You'll need to replay through that night, Sunday and Monday each time you reload it and you won't be able to skip any of the dialogue or cutscenes. It'll take some time for each ending but it's better than playing through the entire game 3 times.

At the start of your final day in Providence Oaks (after the Open Mic night), you'll discuss your plans with Frank at the Post Office. He'll ask you if you've decided whether or not you're staying. Let him know you've decided to stay in Providence Oaks ("and yes, I want to wear it a bit longer...). When Frank pulls you over, reconfirm to him that you've decided to stay in Providence Oaks. Choose any options after that and when you're back on the road (either alone or with Robert) and the credits start to roll, the trophy will unlock.

*MISSABLE*

Important Note: For this achievement, Life in the Fast Lane (100G) and Free Spirit (100G), to avoid having to replay a good amount of the game, make sure you manually save the game before you end the workday on Saturday, September 13 (before you drive into the post office parking lot). What I did was parked across the street from the post office after finishing my deliveries for the day and made the save there. You are going to have to play from this save point a total of three times, each taking approximately 25 minutes (depending on choices you made earlier in the game) before you make specific dialogue choices that determine the ending.

After turning in the truck on Saturday, September 13, you have a short conversation with Frank. Dialogue choices do not matter here. That evening, you receive a phone call from your parents. Again, dialogue choices do not matter. If you agreed to have dinner with Robert on September 12, you will play through a five minute scene at the diner. Once again, dialogue choices do not matter.

On Sunday, September 14, the day opens with you writing in your journal. If you did not agree to attend open mic night at Mo’s Diner on September 10, the day ends here. Otherwise, there will be a 15 minute scene at the diner. For this ending, dialogue choices do not matter.

Monday, September 15 starts with you at the post office speaking to Frank. During the conversation, to get this ending, you need to make one specific dialogue choice. When Frank asks if you are accepting the mail carrier job, respond with “and yes, I want to wear it a bit longer”. The remaining dialogue options do not matter.

For the final scene, you are driving around in the mail truck listening to the radio. Depending on your interactions with Robert throughout the game, he may or may not drive up and ask you to pull over. If he does, you can choose any dialogue options you like as they do not matter. The achievement will unlock as the camera pans up to the lake.
