How to unlock the Don’t go into the long grass! achievement in Lawn Mowing Simulator - Definitive Guide

Hello there, folks.

Today, we're going to get you the "Don't go into the long grass" Achievement from the Dino Safari DLC. Below will be a text explanation, as well as a video Guide detailing the methods I found to get this. Despite the confusing description, this achievement unlocks for completing any of the 4 Dino Safari DLC mowing contracts when they have become Overgrown. To check if a Contract is overgrown, open the Contract to where you assign someone to handle it, and read the description in the upper left. It will have "OVERGROWN!" listed to start its description if it's overgrown. The money is usually 1.5 times higher than the normal mow, also. You do have to actually complete it, too. You can't just jump in, complete part of it and quit to get credit.

Full disclosure, I made this video because there seems to be a lot of conflicting information on what makes Overgrown Contracts show up. There's a lot of information in the video, and I'll explain my methodology below if you are interested in that. If you aren't interested in the why, jump to the paragraph that starts with "Method 1". From there you can choose either Method 1 or Method 2 to get you the achievement( I recommend Method 2, personally). You can also jump to the Timestamps for the Method you want in the video at the bottom of this solution, if you so choose.

Purchasing the Lawn Mowing Simulator DLCs will add 12 new Contracts(24 if you buy both DLCs) into the rotation that the game pulls from for your daily choices. Depending on your rank in the game, you can choose from 1, 3, 4, or 5 different Contracts to do each day, and the game "chooses" what ones you can pick from from a digital pile of all Contracts.

Overgrown Contracts are just another possible Contract to be pulled from this digital pile. There is no such thing as letting a Contract's grass grow by ignoring it. I show proof of this in the video, but all you need to do is check the grass's height if you skip a Contract for a few days. It should increase every day you skip it, but it doesn't. I also prove this in the video by getting an Overgrown Contract on the first day the DLC contracts exist. There was no time for the grass to grow and be overgrown. The game just gave me an Overgrown Contract.

With that cleared up, the biggest problems we're going to have in unlocking this achievement involve getting the Overgrown Dino contract to show up, and having a mower capable of doing it. There are 2 methods we can use, and both of them involve taking advantage of the Post-Contract screen auto-save in Career Mode. Method 2 is the better option, but I'll leave both options so you can decide which one you want to try.

Method 1:

Pros of this method are that its simpler to get the one of the needed Contracts to show up, but will take significantly longer to actually complete it with an early-game mower. Also, if you mess up the autosave here, you NEED to start the Career over. Day 3 is the only day you get 3 different Contracts, so you can't skip to Day 4 and try again. This Method needs to be done on the day immediately after ranking up to Newcomer Rank 2.

Start up a new Career, doing whatever you want for customization. Complete the first two days, I believe an Old Nook Cottage and Kingsbury House contract on Days 1 and 2, and when you reach the Post-Contract screen following the Kingsbury House, DON'T DO ANYTHING. Don't leave to the Main Menu, don't adjust mowers or Upgrade your HQ or anything. We need to make sure that our autosave stays at the Post-Contract screen. This is important because, at this screen, the game has not yet determined which new contracts its going to let you choose from yet. And on Day 3, our choice of contracts jumps from 1 to 3, meaning that we get 3 new Contracts to choose from, giving us 3 chances for an Overgrown Dino contract to show up.

This method is easier to get the Contract because at this point in the Career Mode, you don't have many Contracts unlocked. Even if you've purchased both DLCs, You only have about 30 Contracts for the game to pull from on Day 3, and 4 of those are Overgrown Dino contracts, making the odds better to get one than in Method 2(in Method 2, you need to get 4 out of 100+ possible Contracts).

What you need to do is go to the Contract selection screen and determine if any of them are Overgrown. Don't assign anyone to any Contract. If you get an Overgrown Dino contract right away, great! If not, here's how we're going to use the autosave to make this easier on ourselves.

Open the Guide with the Xbox Guide button, then hit the "Start" button on Lawn Mowing Simulator and close it. Now, restart it, choose that Career and you will be brought to the Post-Contract screen again(if it doesn't bring you there, you did something wrong and will need to start a new Career and get back here again). Skip all of the notifications and get back to the Contract selection screen. You should have 3 new Contracts here. Once again, see if an Overgrown Dino Contract is here. If not, repeat the Guide quit process until you get one.

Once you have it, you have to complete it using an early-game mower, and that's not fun. More than likely, it will take 2-3 hours to complete even the smallest Dino contract with the early game mowers, which is why I personally recommend Method 2.

Method 2:

Pros of this method are that you'll have an end-game Mower available to make completing the Contract easier, but it may take a lot more time to get the Contracts you need to show up.

This method requires you to have a Career that you are far along in, enough so to purchase one of the end-game mowers(Knight OFT, Toro 3300 are good ones). Using one of these mowers should allow you to complete whatever contract you are given in around an hour, significantly faster than in Method 1. You also need to have as many employees as you have Contract choices per day(i.e if you can pick from 5 different contracts, have yourself and 4 employees available). Make sure none of them are on vacation, either. You'll need all of them.

Jump into this career(obviously make sure you don't already have an Overgrown Dino Contract) and assign all employees to a Contract, making sure that all Contracts are accounted for. It doesn't matter who does what as we're going to skip it. Once you load in, immediately run to your Truck door and leave the Contract. This is an important step for 2 reasons. One, we have used all of the current contracts, meaning that the next Day will give us 5 brand new ones. Two, by creating the autosave at the Post-Contract screen, if we don't get the Overgrown Dino Contract, we can Quit through the Guide and reload until one shows up.

Once you get to the post-Contract screen, DON'T DO ANYTHING. We need that autosave to stay at the post-Contract screen, so don't quit to the Main Menu, change mowers, etc. If you NEED to change mowers or do anything and trigger an autosave somehow, you'll need to repeat the process above to create a new autosave on the next day's post-Contract screen.

Once your autosave is in place, go to the Contract selection screen and look for an Overgrown Dino Contract. If there isn't one, follow these steps. Use the Xbox Guide button, press Start on Lawn Mowing Simulator and Quit the game completely. Reload it, go back into the Career, and you will be back at the post-Contract screen autosave. Advance back to the Contract selection screen and, once again, check for an Overgrown Dino Contract. This can take a while. Because we are so far in the Career, there are far more potential Contracts for the game to offer us. In Method 1, there were only 30-some Contracts, and we need one of the 4 Overgrown ones. Depending on what rank you are in this Career, you could have over 100 potential Contracts the game can choose from, so it may take a while for the Contract to show up. My first attempt took 10 minutes and 16 reloads, whereas my second attempt only took 3 reloads. I feel like those were on the quick side, so it could take longer for you.

Once an Overgrown Dino Contract shows up, though, you have the powerful mower to take care of it. Do your ground check, use the Trimmer along edges and mow your way to 65G. The time spent will depend on what Contract you get, but with end-game mowers I can't imagine any Contract taking more than 90 minutes.

One final note for Method 2. You CAN also just skip contracts repeatedly instead of quitting out, but that can affect your financial standing if you have monthly bills and such, so I recommend using the Guide quit strategy instead.

And there you have it!

If you have any questions or comments, as always, reach out to me. I know this is a LOT of text, but I feel as if most of it was necessary for those of you who want to know how I figured out the solution, so I hope you enjoyed the information!

Method 1 starts at 6:01

Method 2 starts at 11:59

Can confirm this can be done on any Dino Safari DLC map as long as the grass is overgrown. Just had one show up for myself. Thanks!

Wanted to also confirm this unlocked on any Dino Safari map; for me this unlocked on Cretaceous Canyon Overgrown. Does not have to be the Raptor enclosure map like the acheievement description suggests.

Did it on Cretaceous Canyon, didn't pop..

Edit: I had to close and reload the game twice, and then it popped.

There may be other ways, but if you keep advancing time **edit - by advance time I just took a contract and ended it so the date in the top right of the screen moved forward. The grass will grow to between 30 and 40cm. The contract the will still read general cut but the summary will mention that it is overgrown. Simply cut the grass and you're all done.

@bignole22 just take contracts and don't do them to advance time. I'd say don't complete them as that will increase your level meaning more levels are unlocked. Then with more levels unlocked the dino maps could become less likely to show up.

I managed to get this on the T-rex map. Took almost 1 hour to complete as grass was so long.

It also works on the Herbivore Valley as well, so I suspect that it works on all overgrown gardens in the dinosaur park DLC pack.

I also had this pop on an overgrown contract on the T-Rex Paddock, so it seems to work on other Dino pack maps?

When you say advance time, do you mean wait or is there a button that will advance the time automatically?

Everytime I advance time about 3 or 4 times the contract disappears and never becomes overgrown. Am I doing something wrong?

Ich kann das Spiel noch so oft neu starten, ich bekomme seit Stunden kein "Überwuchert" Level. Was soll ich noch alles tun?

I spent 4-5 hours searching for the overgrown raptor paddock in career to no avail. I switched to just quitting the game and reloading to see if it would pop up and it did after 10 minutes. What a pain
