This may take multiple attempts, because a lot depends on luck and timing. It is not simply getting a headshot. It's a single killing headshot.
You must approach the witch quietly, flashlight off. I recommend the auto shottie for this. Aiming with the hunting rifle will take too long. You cannot snipe from a distance. You must get her in the moment she is startled. Turn the light on, she'll turn her head and her eyes will glow - THAT is when you fire. Once she leaps up it will be too late. You have to be quick.
It all happens extremely fast so that's why I say luck and timing.
Recommend level 2 chapter 4 (the Town) as you come down from the tower - a witch is sometimes (random) in the alley behind the first building. Close enough to the safe room to reload and try again if she isn't there. There is another witch in the office building later on in the same chapter; the one you have to jump up on the car, to the ledge, over the rail, into the window...
Keep trying you WILL get it.

Rooster Teeth’s Achievement Hunter guys did a video on this one that shows the shot timing pretty well.

The description is slightly misleading. You don't actually need to shoot her in the head to get the achievement (at least not on easy or normal, haven't tested on advanced or expert yet).

1) Turn off flashlight.
2) Crouch.
3) Approach witch until you can't get any closer.
4) As she starts to stand, blast her anywhere on her torso with a full blast from either shotgun.
5) Witch dead, Cr0wned achieved.

Even my 11 year old daughter was able to get the achievement using this method.

You can crown with four weapons- the auto shottie, the shotgun, the SMG and the Assault Rifle. The Assault Rifle and SMG are easier to do it, but they require a glitch- so I will explain them last.

The auto shottie: Quickly walk up behind a sitting witch with your flashlight ON. She will start to stand, and turn her head towards you. This is when you continually shoot in the neck. Although it kills her one shot, shoot more then once just incase you mess up- so you won't die!

Shotgun: Same as the auto shottie, just you can't mess up on this (as you can't fire a bunch of shots quick) one and it is a lot harder.

SMG and Assault Rifle: Both of these work the same way for the Crown. You have to do a powershot. Basically, a powershot is when you fire your full clip in one shot, except it also does some extra damage. Although it is a full clip, this will count as a crown, I know as I have helped countless peopng this method.

To powershoot, take out your pistols. Press and hold LT and Y at the same time. It should switch to your SMG/Assault Rifle and steady it. If you are meleeing with your SMG/Assault Rifle, your doing it wrong, just keeping trying it until it is steady. Then take your finger of Y, while keeping your other finger on LT, and hold RT. Hold this for around ten seconds. Then walk to the witch- any distance-, I prefer close range so it's a definite all of your shots land, just sometimes the powershot will go through her without startleing her at first and not kill her if your are too close. Anyway, she can be in any stance, and it will kill her. The Assault Rifle is more effective for this, but is doable with the SMG. Also like I said, the shots sometimes don't always hit her, so it may take a few tries aswell as practices in the saferoom to get the powershot down. And before I forget, I have one little last note. If you are being attacked by zombies, the powershot is very innaccurate, so clear out the zombies before going for the witch!

If you want to load up a chapter point and aim specifically for this achievement, load up the rooftop finale on No Mercy. The small hallway segment before the actual rooftop finale has a witch in it about half the time. Both places I've seen the witch, her back is to you, which gives you plenty of time to sneak up on her and position yourself perfectly so that when she turns and her eyes glow red, her head is gone. The bonus about loading this specific chapter is that there is an auto-shottie right at the start.

If you mess up or the witch isn't there, you'll have done it in about 30 seconds, which will minimize your potential replay value to get it.

My friend got this achievement by using the burst shot on the witch.

To use the burst shot equip your pistols and hold down the left trigger (LT) for a few seconds. Then press Y to get your assault rifle out (still holding LT). Then hold down RT as well as LT for about 5 seconds. Finally release LT and it will fire all 50 bullets at once.

Achievement description: Kill a witch with a single headshot.

To complete this achievement, you will need to kill a witch with one headshot, it is reccomended that you use an automatic shotgun as any other weapon will not be able to pull of what you need here with one bullet.

Firstly, make sure you have cleared the area where you know the witch is of any infected then with your shotgun out approach the witch with the flashlight switched off. As soon as you are in position turn on your flashlight to startle the witch. Now as soon as the witch looks at you and is about to get up, put one in her head. This achievement requires aiming and timing, you should be able to get it in approximately 1-4 attempts.

If you unlock this, you will also get Witch Hunter.

To do this, you have to run up to a witch with an auto shotgun and aim for her shoulder / chest area. Simply shoot as she starts coming up, and you must give her a deadly one-shot blow! It helps if you crouch, but others prefer standing up (personally crouching helps me as the aiming is easier). Some people prefer to do this behind her, others in front of her. See what works best for you! Just remember, on Easy, Normal and Advanced, you don't even need to hit the head itself for it to unlock.

I thought this achievement was very easy. You turn on your flashlight stand right over her and as soon as she stands up... Auto Shotty to the face. I have a video MADE BY ME that demonstrates how to do this

It is in fact possible to get the Cr0wned achievement using a minigun.

Halfway through chapter 2 of the No Mercy campaign, there is a chance that a witch will spawn right next to the minigun turret. Though getting a headshot on the witch using this method is little more than blind luck.

1st: you need a pump shotgun.
2nd: you need a witch when you approach the witch turn off your light an crouh. Get next to her follow her head (do not panic!) wait tells she's all the way up an she exhales once then shot. This might take a couple tries

First and foremost: This can take some time to get right. If you dont get it the first time, dont freak out, just relax and try again later.


Firstly, load up mo mercy act 2 and take the shotgun (Either shotgun will work, though the automatic has been known to have better results). Now, when you find your witch, there are two possible ways you can do this. If you are alone, the best way is to slowly approach her, ensure the majority of the aiming recticle is over her head and plug her full of rocksalt. The other option, In Co-Op, have a friend walk in front of her, causing her to stand up, and have a clearer shot at her head. same as before: Aim, blast, bingo.

This one is difficult if you don't know exactly how to do it, but it's easy once you do it a couple times. The key point is to stand right in front of her until she starts to satnd up. Once she is on her feet, she begins to shake in anger and gets ready to chase you for alerting her - that's the time to shoot her in the face. The best weapon to use for this is the Auto-Shotgun, but the Pump-Shotgun does work as well. I used to try to use the rifle, but it never killed her in one hit. The best way is to almost startle the witch completely then headshot her.

The best place to get this is on no mercy, subway map hands down for me their was always a witch on this level. I got this with the auto shotgun, not sure if it really matters tho. I had a lot of confusion as to when to shoot as I've seen and read different things. When you find the witch turn your light off, and walk right up next to her so she starts standing up, while she still has some bend in her legs but is no longer sitting on the floor shoot her in the face, she should drop like a rock.

The achievement description says a single shot but that does NOT work! Trust me, she will jump up and beat on you.

Fire rapidly into the back of her head, that seems to do the trick.

I have tried every single solution, but this one worked out most for me. AI can sometimes be stupid enough to either: put on the flashlight while everybody has it off, or accidently shoot so the Witch gets startled. The greatest act to kill the witch with one headshot is indeed No Mercy, Act 2: The Subway on easy. Because the AI and their mistakes and overall nervous making can be a pain, in the area where you spot the Witch, switch to Expert. The quicker your dumbass AI partners are gone, the better in this case. Kill your AI partners, switch back to easy, turn off your flashlight, walk up to her, she doesn't do anything. Then shoot her. I tried this more than once, and it worked like a charm. If you vote negative, please tell me why.
