How to unlock the Sacrifizzle achievement in Left 4 Dead - Definitive Guide

EDIT: Yes, this achievement is finally obtainable thanks to a patch released on (or just before) January 18, 2011!

To get this achievement, you must be playing Versus as the Infected, and incapacitate a Survivor who has left the rising bridge to sacrifice themselves. Set this up on The Sacrifice: Chapter 3: Port Finale. Only one person per team is necessary. To be safe, use the Local Server method by mashing "A" repeatedly on the Start Game option, as I'm not sure the new patch fixed the problem with getting achievements on dedicated servers. WARNING: This may freeze your Xbox once or twice, simply restart the console and try again, there's no long-term damage.

Once the game is under way, the Survivor has to activate all 3 generators. After activating each one, wait until the Infected player becomes a Tank, then kill him before moving on to the next one. This will prevent you from having to fight an AI controlled Tank. Once the last Tank is killed, the Survivor will gain access to the bridge. Hop on and activate the switch to raise the bridge. There is no need to wait for the Infected to spawn as a Hunter, as they will become a Tank anyways. In fact, it is preferable if they DON'T spawn at all, as then the AI will not take over the Special Infected.

Once the bridge starts rising, both the Survivor and the Infected (who should be a Tank) should head to the alley to the left of the bridge (when facing towards it from the road). There the Survivor can crouch in the corner and hold off any Common Infected (use a pipe bomb if you have one) until the Tank arrives. Quickly incap the Survivor for your 50G achievement, and probably, relief at having finally finished The Sacrifice for Left 4 Dead. (Just make sure the Tank hurries, as there are AI controlled Tanks spawned at the same time.)

Unfortunately no, but I do agree nothing is worse then adding an old crappy game that I have quadruple checked before playing to make sure all the achievements are attainable and BAM! They come out with some BS DLC with a glitched achievement. Now my completion is gonna suffer. Microsoft are pieces of shit for making rules about achievements yet they don't enforce them because they wont make money from it. But god forbid someone can get there Xbox permanently banned for it being modded. I'm sure its not Valves fault but Microsoft should be the ones who patch these problems or something. To bad us as a community cant do anything because no matter how much we complain to game companies or Microsoft they just dont care because it wont profit them. But like I said it's pure BS just because they have rules that they are allowed to break and we cant. And were just as dumb for buying there garbage.

I got this last night though it took 3 tries as there was only two of us. The AI tanks kept killing us before we could do it ourselves. In the end we got it by waiting until whoever was the human jumping down from the bridge and running and standing in front of the car at the bottom of the hill. With a pipe bomb to distract the horde, whoever is the tank can get there before the other tanks and knock the car into the person, incapping them straight away.

It's good of you to put a guide up mate... Even if it is just a post-it note telling us it's glitched...

Seriously though, Valve can jog on... I get the feeling more and more they think of me as a piece of shit that occasionally vomits up a £5 note to buy something they haven't thought through or tested...

Screw them, i've already devoted my bio to convincing as many people as possible to boycott L4D 3 or whatever other gaming abortions Valve have lined up... Bunch of self-serving pecker-woods if you ask me...

They quite literally must have a staff meeting once a day to say... "how can we get things wrong, make things worse and still make money." And then some nob-rash on work experience says... "i know" lets bring out more DLC.... And then the CEO's daughter says... What if we bring out the same piece of DLC twice and make people pay for it twice with the same achievements... and get this... We'll make it shit!" After that they all just roar with laughter and order take-out...

Mark my words, that's how it happens...

Another fucking guide for this achievement which is unattanable... Once again, it will be flagged down.

BY POSTING THIS, YOU GIVE PEOPLE FALSE HOPE. THEY THINK YOU HAVE A GUIDE. YOU ARE JUST TELLING US WHAT WE KNOW.

etc.

I think this solution should stay up. Yes most people know it is unobtainable but some probably still don't so we might as well leave it until it's patched. Plently of glitched achievements have solutions on this site stating that they are glitched. Might as well leave one solution up instead of having a useless new one pop up every few days.

I don't know how much they actually care about their fanbase considering the fact that the CC achievements only worked on local server, which isn't even an option in the game...

paynexkiller666 - I apologize, I didn't realize there has already been "solutions" stating that it is glitched. If I had, I wouldn't have had to post this, but flag it down if you must. I realize it isn't a guide, but this will be the first place people look when they can't get the achievement, so rather than have people scour the forums, I thought I would make it easier on people. You have to realize that just because the vocal majority knows this, it doesn't mean everyone does.

Liste3r Fi3nd - That is a good point, it's been a while since I've done anything Crash Course related. Valve definitely favours their PC audience, but they have proven to be a pretty consumer-friendly company in the past. The only reason Left 4 Dead DLC is 560 Microsoft Points instead of 800 is because Valve wanted to get it as close to free as Microsoft would let them.

I can tell 'somebody' doesn't like Valve. You know, making games ain't all peaches an' gravy ya know (I think I said that wrong...) Point is, don't complain unless you can do better. It's people like you who make Valve hate the Xbox360 community in the first place.

This solution confirms that it's glitched, which would aid anyone wanting to unlock the achievement by telling them not to waste their time. It gives information about how and when a fix is expected, which is as informative as a "guide" can possibly be. Anyone who downvoted this is an idiot.

An answer to a problem is called a solution; that is why this solution should stay. Not everyone knows that the warning symbol opposite the achievement description means the achievement is unobtainable. As much as I like Valve I have to agree that this dlc is shit (x2) and that's undebatable.

I just tried (several times) to do this with 2 controllers on sys link and every time (unlike in L4D2) my main account becomes a tank at the finale.
I killed the guest account with the tank every time, but no achievement.
Maybe I should try do do it completely offline... see if that works.

i have put this up in a 'solution' along with 3 other ways ive heard of from diff peeps but due to the ammont of neg votes and messages asking for more details than i had took it down

In addition to the fixes from the PC patch, it appears some 360 specific fixes will be included as well. Hopefully this will include the achievement glitch issue.

You didn't "dbug" shit Sgt x ScarecroW. You downloaded the achievement to your GamerTag and recovered it. Either way you have a unobtainable achievement so I don't know why you would go through the trouble of trying to get it anyway even if you could.

Don't get mad at me because you downloaded a achievement you couldn't get. Next time you should take more care to make sure other people have the achievement unlocked before you remove your Hard Drive. Your parents should really monitor the use of your Hard Drive before you get reset and cry like a little bitch for being the fat ass cheater you are.

Agreed about the ranting, it's getting pretty crazy...

I still have heard absolutely nothing about this patch we're supposed to be getting other than the article referenced in the main post. I'm getting sick of having to look this achievement up every day, when Valve hasn't even officially acknowledged the fact that there's anything wrong. It's been over 40 days since the problem was discovered. As much as I love Valve, these DLC issues are inexcusable.

You know... (in all seriousness) i've got unobtainable achievements on several games, some of them bother me more than others, and i love keeping my completion percentage as high as possible. I'd be JUST AS HAPPY if instead of patching these achievements, they could somehow erase them from xbox live OR release an update that automatically unlocks the achievement when you next sign on to live (or load the game)...
I know i'm living in a fantasy world, but it's a funny point that this would probably be 100 times easier and faster than patching a fault... and would probably give about 90% of the same consumer satisfaction as a full-on-lets-mend-this-game patch...

If a valve spy sees this... that's what i want for Christmas.
0
0
By on 26 Nov 2010 08:44
At this point, it'd probably be closer to 98% consumer satisfaction. I can't imagine someone playing The Sacrifice on Left 4 Dead 1 just for fun, especially not so long after release. If a person cares at all about new L4D content, you'd have to assume they already own L4D2. When (or if...) Valve patches this, they'll see an influx of players for a couple days, and then no one will touch it again.

As of today, November 27th, it's been exactly 53 days since The Sacrifice was released, and exactly 30 since Valve announced there would be a patch for Left 4 Dead (with no reference to achievements). This is one of the worst cases of Valve Time I've seen in a while.

That's actually a pretty good idea. I can see it making TA score pretty much worthless though, unless the ratio includes all the deleted games or soomething. Maybe if there was a rule that you had to wait a certain period of time without playing it before you can delete it. Like, I had a friend bring over Two Worlds about three years ago, and I got 35 GS from it. That looks abysmal for completion percentage, and since I don't own it, and my only friend that ever played it only rented it, I have no way of improving that.

I don't think I would wipe this game though, I'm too proud of some main game achievements.

By Meddle71 on 10 Dec 2010 01:49
I've been piping for this idea 6 days after buying my xbox and realising that i didn't like Gears 1... It would make things so great...

And i don't believe it would ruin TA, infact i think it would help strengthen it as a concept... You can actually use a system like that to categorise yourself as a Pro or a completionist or as a casual gamer, or a TA ratio junky... And then BANG when someone releases DLC that you don't want to buy... You've got a mighty appealing alternative...

After every xbox update, this is the first thing i check to see if they have actually gone and done it...

I would get rid of Guitar hero 3 only... (a lot of people are brilliant... and i don't think i have the skill or commitment to ever get brilliant)...

I have games such as GHSH on my list, and if they ever did do an update like that I still would not remove it because I know that the achievement is possibly attainable. But I would only delete the other three I said before. UFC 2009, Left for Dead now and Ghost Recon because those wretched leaderboard achievements are completely retarted. There is something called boosting and something called being a douchbag. People actually do boost for that crap but they buy months of xbox live gold and multiple xboxs to accomplish it which is absolutely retarted. But yeah I say we should bring this idea about to microsoft.

and people are popping it as of today, 01-13... with dates sigs... It does make me wonder if there is a way to have it randomly pop open, even if its a one time occurence and not something you can make a full proof guide for. At first, a few of them claimed downing an ally or something els eoff the wall popped it for them, then a few were caught as cheaters. I don't know what to think and still worry that if there is some great glitch to popping it, I'd be seen as a cheater for it not working for others.. why can't we just get a patch already?

If this is true that achievement can finally be obtained, all the cheaters and hackers before this update should be banned and have their gamerscore reset to zero. I have so many msg from hackers telling lies and it would feel great knowing they can't play xbox live.

You don't really need to meet in the alley. Me and a few friends did it a few hours ago, we simply jumped from the bridge and had the player controlling the tank smash the sacrificer until he downed. There were also zombies interfering but as long as the tank's slap is bringing the player down it should work.

Seeing as there's no news on the "we're aware of this and are fixing it" front, that may be the last resort...
...this is the one and only achievement standing in the way of me 100%ing everything released by Valve for the 360. I've done The Orange Box, Portal: Still Alive, Left 4 Dead (+ Crash Course) and Left 4 Dead 2 (+ The Passing & The Sacrifice), but because of this one damn achievement, I can't finish this DLC.

Thanks (most of you) for the support and positive votes on this so-called "solution"!
I know this is the first place most people look, so I wanted to make the information as easy to find as possible. I'm checking daily to see whether a patch is up, or someone's figured something out in regards to this achievement. As soon as I find something I'll edit this to make it into a real solution, so keep posted!

@Meddle71 - This was the first place I looked when I didn't get the achievement and I was glad to be told it was unobtainable so I could stop trying to get it.

@paynexkiller666 - It's your opinion man and you're entitled to it. Nobody has to agree with you and you're not wrong for expressing it.

Only thing I'd ask is for us to be a little more diplomatic. There're plenty of gaming sites out there full of bitching, flaming and the like without TA becoming another one. I like the fact that this site has a good community (check my XBL bio) so remember, the community is us. We'll be the ones dragging it down if it happens and once it happens it'll never climb out of that pit again.

I actully saw a friend unlock the ach in front of my face in verus. When he became the tank he killed himself in the water and became the Hunter and pounced the survior at the generator. But I say its sadly still glitched because I did the exact same thing and didn't get it........ love you Valve, freakin love you.

My crappy Desktop refreshed it's self twice that day when I made that post so it must have just posted it three times. Yeah it was a pretty nice I know but the triple post kinda ruined it. Anyway yeah ask Cross he knows what's going on. Valve released the update (patch) to Microsoft at the same time they released the update a few weeks ago for the PC version. Rumor has it that Microsoft charges the third party gaming companies (Valve) money to even release a patch. They love their $$. Just like Hellboy now that you can't max out the original 1000/1000 because Microsoft told Konami they had pay to have it released. That "dlc" was part of the gay original 1000/1000. So now it can't be completed.

Man, you know what I think Microsoft should do to minimize cheaters and probably give more customer satisfaction? I know a shit ton of people that like to restart there stuff and start from scratch. I think on the next big Xbox update they should add some sort of way to delete games off of your gamer card and forfeit gamer score. It sure as hell would help out all the completionists and would be a cool add on. Maybe as a community we can send out a petition asking Microsoft to install that in a new update or something instead of complaining about games ruining achievements on our cards.

There is pros and cons of course.

Pros: Being that you can have 100% completion.

Cons: Being that everyone will delete the hard games off their lists and TA Ratios going down.

There are more but that's all I have in mind at the moment. But I think of it as a damn good idea and it would make a lot less complaining. I would definitely wipe out Ghost Recon and UFC. And now this god forsaken game.

As of the new year, I am officially calling this one complete, regardless of whether it says I have the achievement or not. This'll be a 1450/1450. I'll still check for new developments, but I'm not keeping my hopes up. Then I can finally say I have totally completed every Valve game for the 360. I have a few other games that I count as complete, even though it says differently on my gamercard, like Fallout: Broken Steel, when an achievement glitches on me.

Instead of killing the tank you could just have the tank climb the building and jump into the water, it dies instantly. Much quicker.

Nice to hear it's finally possible, I'll see if I can do it later on sometime. I'll try doing it splitscreen and if that works I'll let you know.

Alright guys found a very easy almost guaranteed way to get sacrifizzle without the other tanks or zombies screwin you over if you do the two controller method. Tried for over three hours other ways but was constantly getting hit and killed by the other tanks so I tried this method out of thought and the first try I did it.

First off just go through the last episode normally with any character for your second controller and the infected as your achievement account. Get to the part where you activate the switch at the top of the bridge and then go on the right side near the turret and wait there for a couple seconds. Grab your main controller as the tank and move him all the way down to the bridge and to your left is a small area on the left side of the bridge and jump over the very short metal fence there and climb up the pipe up to the balcony thing up there and put controller down. Now grab your second controller as the human and jump onto the balcony thing right below the right side turret where you were standing and it will be just you and the tank on that little balcony. Then just get your first controller and constantly keep punching the human and incapacitate him for an easy achievement. When I did it I didn't notice any zombies or tanks trying to get up there to my second controller as the human but I was kinda in a hurry just to get it over with and may not have really noticed.

This worked perfectly for one person, and was a decent way to do it with multiples to avoid the other tanks, as long as the human waits to jump on the balcony until the tank is there so he doesn't get swarmed. Thanks. 8)

Great solution, thanks! You might want to add that you have to set the game to system link in order to play on a local server, otherwise it won't unlock.

Thanks guys for all the positives. I just recently did this achievement again for left 4 dead 2 and it was hell for some reason. Lol, I think the second game just had too many special infected making it harder. Oh and in the second game you can use the Charger also because that is what I did when my Tank died.

A patch has been released which finally makes this achievement obtainable. However, The Sacrifice for Left 4 Dead & Crash Course for Left 4 Dead still require you to use the "local server workaround" if you want to unlock the achievements while playing online. If you don't force the local server the achievement will not unlock.

I've found it's easiest to get this while playing with a group of people, while in a group you'll have much more control over the special infected as the Tanks spawn in the finale which will make getting the achievement much easier. Though it is possible to get unlock this achievement while playing with just 2 people. You can even use a Guest account as the second "player". If you do play with a guest in an offline/split-screen match then you'll already be playing on a local server and won't need to initiate the local server work-around. But like I said, you may find it much easier to play with a group of people and have more control over the special infected.

If you don't already have a group of people to unlock this achievement you can try checking to see if there are any gaming sessions. If there aren't any you should try creating your own session, you can do that by clicking here: http://bit.ly/esZ1W6

If you're unaware of the local server workaround read here: The local server workaround is a simple workaround which allows players to unlock this achievement amongst others while playing online. You need to use this workaround because it appears that the achievements for The Sacrifice for Left 4 Dead & Crash Course for Left 4 Dead will not unlock on the official servers. Valve have patched Left 4 Dead numerous times and haven't once disabled this small workaround and actually incorporated the ability to choose a local server on Left 4 Dead 2. The only consequence of using this workaround is it may make your Xbox lock up/crash. It does not breach your "Terms of Service" and will not result in you getting banned, so you can use this method without fear of repecussions.

With that cleared up I'll explain how you actually initiate the local server. First of all you'll need to decide who is going to host the session. Once that's sorted have the host invite all the players into his lobby and when everyone is in and ready the hosting player needs to scroll down to "Start The Game" and tap "A" repeatedly. Doing this will cause the game to begin to start up and cancel the start up. Continue to repeat this process until the menu locks out but the game continues to count down, this is when you'll know you've forced a local server. It's also at this point that the hosts Xbox may crash, if you find that his Xbox seems to keep crashing it's a good idea to change hosts as some people seem to be able to force the local server easier than others.

If you're the host and your Xbox crashes just restart you Xbox, create a new lobby and re-invite in the other players or have someone else host the lobby.

In terms of setting up the lobby, the last thing you need to know is that you don't need to play through the entire Sacrifice campaign. You can start the game up from the third section which is the finale and still unlock the achievement.

To find out what you need to do for the achievement read here: Now for this achievement you need to be playing as an infected and kill a survivor when they attempt to make the sacrifice. If you're one of the people playing as an infected it's a good idea to not spawn and just wait it out until you're notified that you're becoming the Tank. Doing this will prevent any AI controlled special infected from becoming present in the game, which will make it a little bit easier as the people playing as survivors won't have to worry about any special infected once you become a Tank as when you take control of the Tank any special infected you'd spawned as become AI controlled.

The people playing as survivors need to run through the finale section and activate the 3 generators. It's not essential but it's a very good idea to grab pipe bombs before you activate the final generator, you'll need them later on to make it a little easier. Now the people playing as infected should start spawning as Tanks, run down to the survivors and let them kill you until the platform becomes accessible. When the platform powers up and becomes accessible the survivors should head directly there. When everyone is on the platform 1 of the survivors needs to head up the ladder and flip the switch which is found toward the back of the higher platform. The other survivors should all wait on the lower platform and fight off the horde while getting ready to make the sacrifice.

Now for this next part communication is very important. By this point the people playing as infected will have started spawning as Tanks again, once they the first player has spawned as a Tank he needs to position himself on the cross junction and face the bridge/platforms. Once the power goes out and the survivors realise 1 of them need to make a sacrifice 1 of the survivors will need to jump off the platform and re-activate the generator. Have 1 of the survivors throw their pipe bomb to distract the horde and then run/jump off the lower platform. Run straight forward toward the cross junction, preferably

Lastly, if you're attempting to unlock this achievement as part of a group it is possible to unlock this achievement up to 3 times per game. Use the above process to unlock the achievement and once the first player has unlocked his achievement another survivor can run off the platform and repeat the same process as explained above. Once you've killed 3 of the survivors the game will abort as it becomes impossible for the survivors to win. If you decide to do this just be warned that the computer will spawn in 4 Tanks, if you have 4 people playing as infected then you'll control all of them and that's fine. If you have less than 4 people playing as infected then the AI will take control of the final a Tank. So with that in mind you'll need to do this quickly so that the AI controlled Tank doesn't end up killing the remaining survivors.

Sorry about the wall of text but I wanted to try and explain this as clearly as possible. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment or send me a PM!

It is possible to unlock this cheevo 4 times per round(8 times per game). Helps if 3rd survivor is still alive(although incaped) and last tank(4th tank) is ready and waiting at bottom of bridge when final survivor(4th survivor) jumps down. There are a precious few seconds before the round/match ends.

This can be done solo with 2 controllers and a bit of juggling.

Start a Versus game (Play Versus -> Play With Friends -> press X -> Versus Mode) and set Permissions to System Link Game. This will work with only one Xbox and will force a local host game. Forcing a local host game by mashing the A button while starting a game may cause your Xbox to freeze.

Make sure the guest account as a survivor picks up a pipe bomb and let him turn on all 3 generators. The main account will turn into a tank each time a generator is fired up. Let these tanks be killed before you lose control and the AI takes over.

For the last and hectic part ready your pipe bomb, run onto the bridge, flip the switch and run to the mounted machine gun on the bridge. Jump on the railing besides the gun (don't fall off yet!) and throw your pipe bomb.

Now switch controllers.

By this time your main account should be a tank again with several other AI controlled tanks rushing towards the bridge. Run as quickly as you can to the left side of the bridge and position yourself under the other account. Give the left analogue stick on your guest controller a gentle push and he'll fall straight in front of your tank. With a bit of luck you can take him out without the other tanks interfering.

SPLIT SCREEN - LOCAL SERVER METHOD
A great way to do this is when you are on the bridge and it raises up. There will be a turret on the right side. Jump on top of the turret and there should be a balcony a couple feet away. Jump on there and have the person going for the achievement climb up on the other side of the house, go on the roof, and jump down on the balcony with the person. Just whack away fast and the achievement is yours. It takes the zombies a while to figure out where you are. If a zombie hits you restart. Credit for this guide goes to my friend Ace Chewie. He got the achievement I know i didnt but what ever.
XBOX LIVE METHOD - Seeing they dont feel like fixing this huge deal, you will have to get a friend to join. Then set up the game and when your ready go to the start button and tap A repeatedly. Keep tapping it untill the game starts. THIS DOES WORK I DID IT FOR JUMPING JACK SMASH AND SLIPPERY PULL
18
1
STILL NO PATCH, here's what i did

(hopefully you have two controllers, or are able to get another) start a versus with a guest signed in to the 2nd player, make the lobby private (to avoid anyone joining and possibly ruin it). Set it to The Sacrifice park 3 - Docks.

*Next step is important* when you start keep pressing A so it starts and cancels repeatedly, (tap A quickly but not to fast or you Xbox will freeze, nothing harmful tho) you will know when to stop because it will say Session starting in 5.. and count down from there without giving you the option to cancel again. Then you do the achievement from there. Just make sure you incap the guest before the other tanks/common do

Recommended setup:

- At least 2 human players. 1 survivor and 1 infected.
- The person who is going for the achievement needs to be a Smoker or preferably a Hunter.
- If the survivor plays as Bill, they can also get:

Left 4 DeadKill BillThe Kill Bill achievement in Left 4 Dead worth 24 pointsHave Bill sacrifice himself for the team.

The difficulty with Sacrifizzle is actually getting the survivor to the generator in one piece and also getting lucky with the infected spawns. This is because a number of tanks will usually spawn at annoying times and the game will sometimes force you to play as a tank, which is not what you want.

Making sure your Survivor gets to the generator in one piece:

Make sure you have a Pipe Bomb at the ready before you jump off the bridge. It's also important that you don't jump from too high a point as you will most likely have to retry due to the three tanks spawning at the same time. The best place to jump is on the right hand side of the bridge. There will be a mounted turret right here. This is where you must jump off. Once off, lob the pipe bomb and run to the generator.

Making sure the infected (person going for achievement) is ready to pounce

This won't be too hard, but your main concern will be pouncing on the Survivor before the tanks get him. Make sure you are ready to pounce as he approaches the generator. Luckily the survivor does not need to be activating the generator when you pounce, which gives you a bit more time.

This achievement can be pulled off with 5 people if done correctly. Have 1 person be a Survivor, while the other 4 (including you) are the Infected. Make sure the Infected team do not spawn until the bridge is raised. When the generator is turned off, have the one player leave the bridge to turn it back on. This is when you and the other Infected team spawn. Have the other 3 Special Infected keep the AI Survivors distracted as you attempt to incap the human controlled survivor. It is recommended that a Hunter or Tank incap the survivor. Once the human survivor is incapped, you will earn the achievement.

NOTE: The player does not have to be turning on the generator. They only need to be off the bridge.

0
To complete the level, one of the survivors will have to go down from the bridge and restart the generator, thereby sacrificing themselves for the sake of the team. All that is required of you is to not let him do this.
