How to unlock the Sacrifizzle achievement in Left 4 Dead - Definitive Guide
To get this achievement, you must be playing Versus as the Infected, and incapacitate a Survivor who has left the rising bridge to sacrifice themselves. Set this up on The Sacrifice: Chapter 3: Port Finale. Only one person per team is necessary. To be safe, use the Local Server method by mashing "A" repeatedly on the Start Game option, as I'm not sure the new patch fixed the problem with getting achievements on dedicated servers. WARNING: This may freeze your Xbox once or twice, simply restart the console and try again, there's no long-term damage.
Once the game is under way, the Survivor has to activate all 3 generators. After activating each one, wait until the Infected player becomes a Tank, then kill him before moving on to the next one. This will prevent you from having to fight an AI controlled Tank. Once the last Tank is killed, the Survivor will gain access to the bridge. Hop on and activate the switch to raise the bridge. There is no need to wait for the Infected to spawn as a Hunter, as they will become a Tank anyways. In fact, it is preferable if they DON'T spawn at all, as then the AI will not take over the Special Infected.
Once the bridge starts rising, both the Survivor and the Infected (who should be a Tank) should head to the alley to the left of the bridge (when facing towards it from the road). There the Survivor can crouch in the corner and hold off any Common Infected (use a pipe bomb if you have one) until the Tank arrives. Quickly incap the Survivor for your 50G achievement, and probably, relief at having finally finished The Sacrifice for Left 4 Dead. (Just make sure the Tank hurries, as there are AI controlled Tanks spawned at the same time.)
First off just go through the last episode normally with any character for your second controller and the infected as your achievement account. Get to the part where you activate the switch at the top of the bridge and then go on the right side near the turret and wait there for a couple seconds. Grab your main controller as the tank and move him all the way down to the bridge and to your left is a small area on the left side of the bridge and jump over the very short metal fence there and climb up the pipe up to the balcony thing up there and put controller down. Now grab your second controller as the human and jump onto the balcony thing right below the right side turret where you were standing and it will be just you and the tank on that little balcony. Then just get your first controller and constantly keep punching the human and incapacitate him for an easy achievement. When I did it I didn't notice any zombies or tanks trying to get up there to my second controller as the human but I was kinda in a hurry just to get it over with and may not have really noticed.
I've found it's easiest to get this while playing with a group of people, while in a group you'll have much more control over the special infected as the Tanks spawn in the finale which will make getting the achievement much easier. Though it is possible to get unlock this achievement while playing with just 2 people. You can even use a Guest account as the second "player". If you do play with a guest in an offline/split-screen match then you'll already be playing on a local server and won't need to initiate the local server work-around. But like I said, you may find it much easier to play with a group of people and have more control over the special infected.
If you don't already have a group of people to unlock this achievement you can try checking to see if there are any gaming sessions. If there aren't any you should try creating your own session, you can do that by clicking here: http://bit.ly/esZ1W6
If you're unaware of the local server workaround read here: The local server workaround is a simple workaround which allows players to unlock this achievement amongst others while playing online. You need to use this workaround because it appears that the achievements for The Sacrifice for Left 4 Dead & Crash Course for Left 4 Dead will not unlock on the official servers. Valve have patched Left 4 Dead numerous times and haven't once disabled this small workaround and actually incorporated the ability to choose a local server on Left 4 Dead 2. The only consequence of using this workaround is it may make your Xbox lock up/crash. It does not breach your "Terms of Service" and will not result in you getting banned, so you can use this method without fear of repecussions.
With that cleared up I'll explain how you actually initiate the local server. First of all you'll need to decide who is going to host the session. Once that's sorted have the host invite all the players into his lobby and when everyone is in and ready the hosting player needs to scroll down to "Start The Game" and tap "A" repeatedly. Doing this will cause the game to begin to start up and cancel the start up. Continue to repeat this process until the menu locks out but the game continues to count down, this is when you'll know you've forced a local server. It's also at this point that the hosts Xbox may crash, if you find that his Xbox seems to keep crashing it's a good idea to change hosts as some people seem to be able to force the local server easier than others.
If you're the host and your Xbox crashes just restart you Xbox, create a new lobby and re-invite in the other players or have someone else host the lobby.
In terms of setting up the lobby, the last thing you need to know is that you don't need to play through the entire Sacrifice campaign. You can start the game up from the third section which is the finale and still unlock the achievement.
To find out what you need to do for the achievement read here: Now for this achievement you need to be playing as an infected and kill a survivor when they attempt to make the sacrifice. If you're one of the people playing as an infected it's a good idea to not spawn and just wait it out until you're notified that you're becoming the Tank. Doing this will prevent any AI controlled special infected from becoming present in the game, which will make it a little bit easier as the people playing as survivors won't have to worry about any special infected once you become a Tank as when you take control of the Tank any special infected you'd spawned as become AI controlled.
The people playing as survivors need to run through the finale section and activate the 3 generators. It's not essential but it's a very good idea to grab pipe bombs before you activate the final generator, you'll need them later on to make it a little easier. Now the people playing as infected should start spawning as Tanks, run down to the survivors and let them kill you until the platform becomes accessible. When the platform powers up and becomes accessible the survivors should head directly there. When everyone is on the platform 1 of the survivors needs to head up the ladder and flip the switch which is found toward the back of the higher platform. The other survivors should all wait on the lower platform and fight off the horde while getting ready to make the sacrifice.
Now for this next part communication is very important. By this point the people playing as infected will have started spawning as Tanks again, once they the first player has spawned as a Tank he needs to position himself on the cross junction and face the bridge/platforms. Once the power goes out and the survivors realise 1 of them need to make a sacrifice 1 of the survivors will need to jump off the platform and re-activate the generator. Have 1 of the survivors throw their pipe bomb to distract the horde and then run/jump off the lower platform. Run straight forward toward the cross junction, preferably
Lastly, if you're attempting to unlock this achievement as part of a group it is possible to unlock this achievement up to 3 times per game. Use the above process to unlock the achievement and once the first player has unlocked his achievement another survivor can run off the platform and repeat the same process as explained above. Once you've killed 3 of the survivors the game will abort as it becomes impossible for the survivors to win. If you decide to do this just be warned that the computer will spawn in 4 Tanks, if you have 4 people playing as infected then you'll control all of them and that's fine. If you have less than 4 people playing as infected then the AI will take control of the final a Tank. So with that in mind you'll need to do this quickly so that the AI controlled Tank doesn't end up killing the remaining survivors.
Sorry about the wall of text but I wanted to try and explain this as clearly as possible. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment or send me a PM!
Start a Versus game (Play Versus -> Play With Friends -> press X -> Versus Mode) and set Permissions to System Link Game. This will work with only one Xbox and will force a local host game. Forcing a local host game by mashing the A button while starting a game may cause your Xbox to freeze.
Make sure the guest account as a survivor picks up a pipe bomb and let him turn on all 3 generators. The main account will turn into a tank each time a generator is fired up. Let these tanks be killed before you lose control and the AI takes over.
For the last and hectic part ready your pipe bomb, run onto the bridge, flip the switch and run to the mounted machine gun on the bridge. Jump on the railing besides the gun (don't fall off yet!) and throw your pipe bomb.
Now switch controllers.
By this time your main account should be a tank again with several other AI controlled tanks rushing towards the bridge. Run as quickly as you can to the left side of the bridge and position yourself under the other account. Give the left analogue stick on your guest controller a gentle push and he'll fall straight in front of your tank. With a bit of luck you can take him out without the other tanks interfering.
A great way to do this is when you are on the bridge and it raises up. There will be a turret on the right side. Jump on top of the turret and there should be a balcony a couple feet away. Jump on there and have the person going for the achievement climb up on the other side of the house, go on the roof, and jump down on the balcony with the person. Just whack away fast and the achievement is yours. It takes the zombies a while to figure out where you are. If a zombie hits you restart. Credit for this guide goes to my friend Ace Chewie. He got the achievement I know i didnt but what ever.
XBOX LIVE METHOD - Seeing they dont feel like fixing this huge deal, you will have to get a friend to join. Then set up the game and when your ready go to the start button and tap A repeatedly. Keep tapping it untill the game starts. THIS DOES WORK I DID IT FOR JUMPING JACK SMASH AND SLIPPERY PULL
(hopefully you have two controllers, or are able to get another) start a versus with a guest signed in to the 2nd player, make the lobby private (to avoid anyone joining and possibly ruin it). Set it to The Sacrifice park 3 - Docks.
*Next step is important* when you start keep pressing A so it starts and cancels repeatedly, (tap A quickly but not to fast or you Xbox will freeze, nothing harmful tho) you will know when to stop because it will say Session starting in 5.. and count down from there without giving you the option to cancel again. Then you do the achievement from there. Just make sure you incap the guest before the other tanks/common do
- At least 2 human players. 1 survivor and 1 infected.
- The person who is going for the achievement needs to be a Smoker or preferably a Hunter.
- If the survivor plays as Bill, they can also get:
The difficulty with Sacrifizzle is actually getting the survivor to the generator in one piece and also getting lucky with the infected spawns. This is because a number of tanks will usually spawn at annoying times and the game will sometimes force you to play as a tank, which is not what you want.
Making sure your Survivor gets to the generator in one piece:
Make sure you have a Pipe Bomb at the ready before you jump off the bridge. It's also important that you don't jump from too high a point as you will most likely have to retry due to the three tanks spawning at the same time. The best place to jump is on the right hand side of the bridge. There will be a mounted turret right here. This is where you must jump off. Once off, lob the pipe bomb and run to the generator.
Making sure the infected (person going for achievement) is ready to pounce
This won't be too hard, but your main concern will be pouncing on the Survivor before the tanks get him. Make sure you are ready to pounce as he approaches the generator. Luckily the survivor does not need to be activating the generator when you pounce, which gives you a bit more time.
This achievement can be pulled off with 5 people if done correctly. Have 1 person be a Survivor, while the other 4 (including you) are the Infected. Make sure the Infected team do not spawn until the bridge is raised. When the generator is turned off, have the one player leave the bridge to turn it back on. This is when you and the other Infected team spawn. Have the other 3 Special Infected keep the AI Survivors distracted as you attempt to incap the human controlled survivor. It is recommended that a Hunter or Tank incap the survivor. Once the human survivor is incapped, you will earn the achievement.
NOTE: The player does not have to be turning on the generator. They only need to be off the bridge.
