How to unlock the I Hate Ornithology achievement in Legendary - Definitive Guide
I believe this is the only time in the game where you will have to kill a Griffon without the use of a rocket launcher, and trust me, once you use the rocket launcher you will wonder how you ever did without it.
The trick to taking down the Griffon as quickly as possible is to hit it with your Animus Pulse ability (double tap Y) and then shoot it in it's back while it's stunned. Rinse and repeat. Just try not to get yourself caught in a corner, because it can sometimes be very tough to get out. Good luck.

This is a story achievement that you must get to go on in the story. The griffon is kinda like a boss. It can take awhile to kill and dont let it get near you. When it gets near it is kinda hard to get it away. The shotgun and machine gun are the most useful weapons and the ones you will more than likely have. Just aim at the head or body as that seems to take it down faster.
This achievement is STORY BASED and must be completed to progress.
On the opposite side of the area there is a plasma door with an electronic lock that must be bypassed to progress. The lock does not activate until the Griffon is defeated.
The same strategy you used to defeat the Minotaur works well with the Griffon. You have a short period of time to hit the Griffon with a couple of Molotovs while it is killing a council trooper. Use that time to get out of the hallway as well - I was unable to find a nice corner to hide in where I could not be attacked, so I opted for the open ground in the center of the area. The difference with this battle is that there are a couple of council troops on the other end of the stage. The Griffon will ignore you and attack them if you get close enough to them. Use this time (and their lives) wisely and unload on the Griffon. When you finally kill the Griffon, the achievement will unlock and the electronic lock will activate.
