How to unlock the The Golden Ending achievement in LEGO 2K Drive - Definitive Guide
No joke, this one is just...hard. There are 78 On-The-Go events you have to do, and get gold on. Here's the area breakdown:
Turbo Acres: 2
Big Butte County: 26
Prospecto Valley: 25
Hauntsborough: 25
These vary wildy in difficulty. Some are absolutely trivial, and some will have you raging and wanting to throw your controller through your TV. This achievement will 100% test your patience.
Generally speaking the drift events are the ones I struggled with the most, I don't think there's an easy drift event in the game. Some of the "do XXX laps as fast as possible" also were tough.
One thing that very much helps is this video:
Credit to WarbyGaming for making that, it shows golds on all events. Even with that though some still gave me all sorts of trouble.
I honestly found the hardest ones in Prospecto. Some of the ones that gave me the most trouble:
Prospecto Valley
Up A Creek - video of me getting gold:
Fence Hopping - video of me getting gold:
Hauntsburg
Woodland Weave - video of me getting gold:
One Leaf Clover - video of me getting gold:
Hauntsborough Bobsledding - video of me getting getting gold:
I'm also mixed on if you should work on these early, or wait until endgame. Certainly you want to get to A rank before even attempting many of them, but that happens well before the end of story mode. Some of the ones in Hauntsborough do benefit from having the double-jump perk you get after beating the Sky Cup (ex: Boaty McBoatface or Bobsledding). Having said that, most of these I used these vehicles which you get early on:
Street: McLaren F1 LM
Off-Road: Weed Chopper 5000 or 4x4 Dynamo
Water: Foul Runnings Boat
Exception was for water on Up a Creek I used SteamShark, which is a random vehicle I found in Unkies Emporium (stats are 5 very heavy, 0 top speed, -4 acceleration, +9 to both handling and health).
Perks varied, and to be honest most of the perks are fairly useless. Generally I used:
A-tier: Healing Drifts or Double Jump. Might've been one or two I used Sacrificial Boosting on.
B-tier: honestly all of these are completely useless for these events as they're focused on damage
C-tier: Boost Breaker or Top Speed Boost, might've used Handling Boost or Acceleration Boost for a couple
Note that there are a couple new events that have been added: The "Cone-Juring" in Hauntsborough, and Wrong Kind of Nitro in Prospecto. Can confirm that at least as of Oct 2023 that these are not needed for the achievement (I've never played them, and still got the achievement)

Good guide, just want to point out that up a creek is in big butte, not prospecto. Also, one leaf clover is in prospecto, not Hauntsburg.

Just for reference, if anyone feels intimidated by this achievement. I did all of the challenges with the base vehicles. It is not THAT hard, but there are certainly a few challenges that you have to grind out. I was able to do all of them in about 3-4 hours.

Working my way through these now and this will likely be the hardest achievement you have but it's not as bad as it seems.
My tips:
1. Leave this achievement until endgame.
The cars you have at the start are too slow to even attempt to get gold on these. I waiting until I'd won the Sky Cup before properly starting and have been able to get gold consistently within first couple of attempts when I'd struggle to get close to silver in early-mid game.
2. Mix-match cars.
Some cars are better than others for certain on-the-go challenge. For example, at the start of Big Butte County, there's a long jump challenge that I only passed by finding an Off-road car with decent acceleration and not too heavy. I then used a high acceleration speedboat to get a good run up. For this challenge, I used the offroad Organ Donor Truck with the Buzzo's Royal Barge boat, which you should win from one of the races on your way to Sky Cup.
3. Use the ghost powerup to cheat.
All of the towns in the game will have a location where you can get powerups in free-roam. For example, in Big Butte county, its behind the building next to the swimming pool downtown. Use the ghost powerup to buy you some leeway on the challenges requiring you to avoid obstacles, cones or mines.
4. Using to fast turn is underrated.
This will speed up your time massively, I generally managed to shave a few tenths or a second off my time by using X to spin my car round the corner and then boosting so the car accelerates in that direction.
5. Get rid of the weeds.
You can go for this achievement either before or after clearing all weed patches but getting rid of them is certainly helpful as they can slow you down massively on certain challenges. You can do this by completing the Weed Wrangling quest near downtown Big Butte, unlocking you the lawnmower which can be found in your loadout under Offroad -> Special.
There doesn't seem to be any straight up broken challenges, some just more annoying than others. It will help progress you towards the dreaded 6k miles achievement as you go through these.

Great idea with the ghost powerup +1 thanks! It helps a lot with the events where you have to avoid the mines.

The most difficult tests are Skull rush and Woodland weave, it took 8 hours to complete. I took rugged police chaser and installed perks A-wheel of peace B-off-rowdy C-acceleration boost. Don't forget 2 times (super nitro), when drifting, save up the scale and press The nitro scale is filled twice.

Please tell me what kind of car is in the walkthrough video?
I got stuck in the one leaf clover race in the prospecto valley, I can’t make it in 18 seconds out of the spin..
Maybe someone knows some other nuances for this race?
