How to unlock the Loontern's Space Race achievement in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham - Definitive Guide

In order to unlock Green Loontern, you have to complete all of his quests. Around halfway through the game, you'll find him standing in the Watch Tower near a doorway. Complete the quest and you'll have access to the Moon hub, which allows you to transport to the seven Lantern worlds (which become available after beating their respective stages in Story mode).

All of the Lantern worlds (aside from Oa) have introductory quests where Loontern shows you around the planet. Each planet has four additional quests with several of them being Loontern quests. You'll know when you've completed all of Loontern's quests on that particular planet when the next quest giver is not Loontern.

Once you've completed all of his quests, you can purchase Loontern for 50K studs. Keep in mind that there is only one Loontern quest outside of the Lantern worlds and none on Oa so just keep doing moon quests until Loontern isn't showing up there anymore.

Once you've unlocked him, the best place to travel is Oa, which has 10+ races (they're shown as giant rings with a gold brick/stud in the middle). Simply complete one and this achievement will unlock.

I found a race for a quest in the Hall of Justice, so I wasn't able to find out if you can replay races anywhere.

I did get the achievement by replaying a race so I do not think it is missable.

It's not missable. You can always return to a completed race and redo it for the achievement.

I've unlocked Green Loontern but despite doing multiple races the achievement isn't popping. Do I have a glitched game?

Edit: never mind, Xbox hadn't told me I'd won it.

To unlock Green Loontern, you need to complete every single quest on every Lantern Hub planet. once he's unlocked, choose him and complete any race on one of the hub level.

To unlock Green Loontern, you have to complete all 20 of his fetch quests on the HUB Lantern planets. You'll want to start doing these quests after completing the main story so you will need at least 30 Gold Bricks in order to have all the Lantern portals open for each planet. 

You will first meet Green Loontern in the Watchtower. From the Control Room, exit through the door on the left, then head towards the screen, down some stairs and you will find him next to a broken portal that, when built, gives you access to the Moon Base. Speak to him then rebuild the portal for his first “quest.” This will allow access to the other six HUB Lantern planets. He does not have any quests on Oa.

All of the Lantern planets have introductory quests where Loontern shows you around the planet. Each planet has additional quests with several of them being Loontern quests. Most of the time you need to complete other characters’ quests to access more Loontern quests.

Once you've completed all 20 of his quests, you can purchase him for 50,000 studs. Now you must complete a race using the Green Loontern. The easiest ones are on Oa. Travel to Oa and select either a vehicle or flying race, complete it and the achievement will unlock.

To unlock the Green Loontern, you must complete all of his missions across the 6 Lantern Planets. Note: There are no Green Loontern missions on Oa. There are quite a few missions to complete but keep at it, once you have unlocked him you must purchase him for 50,000 studs. Once you have unlocked and purchased him, head to Oa and complete any of the number of races there as Green Loontern and the trophy will unlock. If you have already completed all of the races, then don't worry as they will respawn.

To unlock the Lunar, you need to complete all of his quests on 6 planets (except for the planet Oa). After purchasing, go to Oa and complete any race with it.
