To the left of the portal room is a lift. Take that and you will see all the available worlds. To go through a portal you must have a minifig of the appropriate world. If all you have is the starter pack you can go to DC hub (ground floor, middle), The Lego Movie (next to the DC hub) and Lord of the Rings (next floor up, from the lift go straight up the ramp and to the right). Literally jump through the portal to go the world of your choice and, boom, the achievement will unlock when you land.

Whenever you start the game, you always spawn in front of the Gateway Portal. To enter a HUB world, head toward the bottom left where you’ll find an elevator. Take the elevator up and head to one of the three HUB worlds (DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings or The LEGO Movie). The achievement will unlock when you land in the HUB world.
You need to enter all three if you want the "Dimensional Explorer" achievement.

From the main Portal, head to the left and take the elevator up then head into any of the portals. If you only have the Starter Pack then only the LEGO Movie, Lord of the Rings and DC HUB worlds will be available to you. Head through any of the portals and the trophy will unlock soon afterwards.
