This is a fairly straightforward achievement and will come with time as you play.
You get gold bricks for a number of reasons - finishing a level for the first time, finishing a level and getting all mini kits, getting 100% of coin value in the level, or any of the various tasks in the hub world.
I got this for just finishing the first 5 levels, then it unlocked! Good luck!!

This is story related and cannot be missed.
You get a gold brick after each level completed. This unlocks after Level 5, 'Painting the Town Black'.
