How to unlock the Guardians of the Galaxy achievement in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes - Definitive Guide

After spending waaaaaay too long attempting to deduce the mission locations required to unlock each of the Guardians of the Galaxy, I'm going to try and make it a lot easier for others.

There are seven six different characters that you must unlock/purchase from the character menu and you MUST complete the main story to enable their missions to appear in the Manhattan Hub.

Here are the seven characters as well as the rough locations of each of their missions.

Drax - Mission 1: Can be found in Times Square. Appears as a picture of Drax on the map. (Completion of this mission unlocks Gamora, one of the Guardians of the Galaxy, for purchase).

Mission 2: Can be found in Times Square right around the corner from the previous mission. Appears as a picture of Gwen Stacey on the map.

Mission 3: On top of the Marvel HQ. Appears as a picture of Drax on the map. (This mission will unlock Drax for purchase).

Gamora - As mentioned before, Gamora is unlocked by completing Drax's first mission.

Rocket Raccoon - Mission 1: Slightly North of Central Park/West Harlem and South of X-Mansion in a location named Scrapyard. Appears as a picture of a garbage truck on the map.

Mission 2: West of Central Park in the Upper West Side area of the city. Appears as a picture of Star Lord on the map. (Completion of this mission unlocks Star Lord, one of the Guardians of the Galaxy, for purchase).

Mission 3: On the southeast coast of the city. Look for Stark Tower and go east and then down. Appears as a picture of Rocket Raccoon on the map. (This mission will unlock Rocket Raccoon for purchase).

Star Lord - As mentioned before, Star Lord is unlocked by completing Rocket Raccoon's second mission.

Groot - Mission 1: Located in the northern section of Central Park. Appears as the Flower Car on the map.

Mission 2: Located in the area just southwest of the Daily Bugle. Appears as Mandarin's Boat on the map.

Mission 3: Located just south of X-Mansion. Appears as a picture of Groot on the map. (This mission will unlock Groot for purchase).

Nova - Foot Race: Located in the Yorkville area of the city due northeast of Central Park. Appears as a picture of Nova on the map. (Completing the foot race will unlock Nova for purchase).

Ronan the Accuser - Event: Directly opposite the circus tent's entrance in Central Park. Appears as a picture of Ronan the Accuser on the map, however the event is actually located underground. To get into this area go due south of Ronan's map icon towards the silver and gold statues of Stan Lee. From here hop down onto the grass next to a tree, turn around so you're facing back towards the statues and break open a secret passageway hidden by foliage. You will need a fire based character and an electricity based character to complete the event within. (Completion of the event will unlock Ronan the Accuser for purchase).

Once you have unlocked and purchased all of the above characters, the achievement will pop.

It seems you don't actually need Ronan the Accuser for this one. The achievement popped for me while I was looking for him on the purchase screen, after buying all others mentioned.

I can confirm that you do not need the Ronan the Accuser character token to unlock this achievement. I got every other token except this one purchased when the achievement popped.

I have all these but no achievement? Even transformered into the all to check. Even got the ones it says you don't need. Any suggestions?

This achievement did not pop for me until I had unlocked all 7 (including Ronan), and had purchased all 7.

This achievement is bugged for me, got them all and nothing. Same with the one for all animal themed characters.

Characters needed:

Drax: has three missions to unlock. Missions 1 and 3 appear as Drax on the map, mission 2 appears as Gwen Stacey.
Gamora: unlocked by Drax's first mission.
Rocket Raccoon: Has three missions. Mission 1 appears as a garbage truck, mission 2 appears as Star Lord, and mission 3 appears as Rocket himself.
Star Lord: Unlocked by Rocket's second mission.
Groot: Also has three missions. 1 appears as a flower truck, 2 appears as Mandarin's Boat and 3 appears as Groot.
Nova: unlocked by foot race, appears as Nova on the map.

You have to unlock all of the Guardians of the Galaxy related characters to unlock this trophy. The characters you need to unlock are:

- Gamora – You must have completed the story before the mission to unlock her becomes available. In the Times Square area, one block up from the level 15 story mission icon, Galactus icon, you will receive a mission from Drax. Once you complete the mission Gamora will be unlocked. You can then purchase her for 150,000 studs.

- Drax – After completing the first mission from Drax, that unlocks Gamora, there will be a second mission he gives you, just slightly north of the previous one. After you complete that one, there will be a third one you must complete that is located on the roof of the Marvel HQ building in Chinatown. Once you complete that mission, you will unlock Drax and be able to buy him for 150,000 studs.

- Groot – To unlock Groot, you must first complete the story mode, then you must complete the three missions he gives you to unlock him. The first is found just above the lake in central park, the flower car icon. The second is found just south west of the Daily Bugle in the park; it is the Mandarin’s boat icon. The final mission is found at the entrance to the X-Mansion, after completing all three and unlocking him, you can purchase him for 150,000 studs.

- Rocket Raccoon – After completing the second Rocket Raccoon mission and unlocking Star Lord, complete the third mission he gives you and you will unlock him. The third mission is found in the south east corner of the Manhattan HUB, there is a small patch of land that juts out along the coast, he is in the southern corner. Once he is unlocked you can buy him for 150,000 studs.

- Star Lord – To unlock Star Lord, you must first complete the story and the first two Rocket Raccoon missions. The first mission is located at the garbage truck icon, two blocks north of the north west corner of the top of central park. The second mission is located one block north and half a block to the west from the road that runs through Central Park. Once you complete both missions, you will unlock Star Lord and you can purchase him for 150,000 studs.

- Ronan the Accuser – He is located in Central Park just to the right of the circus tents. To unlock him, you will have to find the hidden path which is behind the statue that is just south of his icon. Once there, charge the three switches and the box will open. After you unlock him, you can purchase him for 150,000 studs.

- Nova – He is located just east of the giant Godzilla icon in Central Park. Complete the foot race, I recommend a flying character, and he will unlock. You can then purchase him for 150,000 studs.

The Guardians of the Galaxy are Drax, Gamora, Groot, Nova, Rocket Raccoon, Ronan The Accuser, and Star Lord.
