In most areas with water, you'll notice a lining of seaweed at the outer edges. If you swim past these, your character will struggle in the water, and if you don't get back to safe waters in time, a shark will eat you - but you'll get this achievement!
This can easily be gained during the first level, once you get out to the beach areas. Just swim as far as you can away from the shore.

This was my first achievement in the game and it came very unexpectedly. I laughed out loud.
