This is a VERY easy achievement to get.
Most of the instruments in the rock shop cost from $50,000 - $250,000.
Since studs are very easy to get (just play songs and earn 5 stars [gold doesn't matter]) and then buy the most expensive instruments first.
All instruments have different instrument parts in the shop, but to buy the instruments, you MUST have the instrument in use.
For example, if you want to buy guitar/Bass guitar parts, you need to be playing with a Guitar.

You actually don't necessarily need to be playing on the instrument that you're buying parts for. I was able to buy a drum kit and microphones while playing guitar. You just need to switch to the band member that corresponds to that instrument.

A side note for coop players: if you join the band of someone who unlocked the achievement, the achievement can be quickly obtained by buying a single instrument.

This achievement is very simple. Even if you're a decent Medium player, it shouldn't take more then 10-20 songs to get 1 million studs. All you need to do is spend it all on instruments when you get the million. If you have any Entourage members that you hired that raises the amount of studs you'll earn per song/gig, then the million will come even quicker. It's just basically playing gigs/songs until you get a million studs. If you're playing Make A Setlist gigs, and you have DLC, play Thank You Boys (Nothing's Shocking album, 160 MSP alone), or Charlene (I'm Right Behind You) (Free) with Song 2 and A-Punk. You'll blow through those gigs even faster.

You need to buy 1,000,000 studs worth of Instruments items. You can unlock instruments by playing gigs in story mode. When you unlock an instrument, go back to the rock shop and buy it. It shouldn’t take long before you spend 1 mil.

See Gear Head. If you run out of a certain instrument to buy, switch to another one and buy its version. Which means you can buy drums, mics, guitars, and basses.
