How to unlock the Master Builder achievement in LEGO The Hobbit - Definitive Guide

Instruction builds are when you typically have to use a pile of surrounding broken Lego pieces to build a construction pad. Then you have to access the pad, and use a pre-determined selection of loot to build a new Lego item.

These are the minigames where the Lego piece is being pieced together, and you have to select the appropriate Lego piece that the item on the right calls for, out of a selection of pieces on the left. These events are timed, and the faster you select the correct pieces without any mistakes, yields you a higher bonus when the Lego item is completed.

The Maximus stud bonus for a perfect run is 20,000. Acting too slow or choosing a wrong piece will drop that bonus each time you do.

There are many of these instruction builds through the missions and on side quests. You simply need to earn a lifetime total of 150,000 studs from these builds. You can do the same build multiple times by replaying missions, although this isn't necessary. An average player will earn the achievement in roughly 15 builds or less. Once you reach 150,000, the achievement will pop.

I played this game in co-op as well & my friend got the achievement while I did not. Personally, I think it has to do with who starts the build AND who finishes it (puts in the last piece). I completed 7 or 8 additional builds after doing the story twice and still no achievement.

This is why I only play co-op after I'm done achievement hunting.

Also, if you mess up and drop below 10,000 studs, you can press cn_B before you're finished to back out and try again. That's what I did.

Not sure if anyone else is ecountering the issue I'm having. By estimate I have gotten over the 150k studs from these builds, however I play this in co-op at all times so when you complete the builds it seems to split the studs in half.

I have finished the main story and am 5 stages into free mode playthrough and have done some world map builds too. The achievement is yet to pop for me and I'm worried now my studs earned towards this achievement are being halved or worse not counting at all in co-op.

Anyone know anything about this?

The Instruction Builds bonuses are as followed:

First, you have to have the right material to start the mini-game. The object is to click in the right pieces that fit the objects, just like building real LEGOs! The faster you are the more studs you will bank. A perfect run will net you 20,000 studs. If you are too slow or hit the wrong piece the price will drop. The average builder will earn 15,000 studs or less. Hold  to build faster or  to build slower.

You should get this through naturally playing the game and it will probably unlock towards the end. Don't stress too much about getting this achievement right away you'll have to play Free Play mode for the completion of the game. You should get this by story mode Chapter 7, "Goblin Town."
