How to unlock the Who is this horrid creature? achievement in LEGO The Hobbit - Definitive Guide

To earn this achievement, you need to customize a character in the character customization shop in Lakewood.

I had completed the game by this time, but you may not have to. In order to reach the fore-mentioned shop, you need to have the area of the map, "Esgaroth" unlocked. It is located in the middle on the far east/ right side of the map. To fast travel there, center your cursor on the eagle in Esgaraoth that's named "Laketown" fast travel there, and the character customizer shop is just around the corner.

Go in, select an editable character, change one stat about them, and exit out. (Truthfully all I had to do was click on the character and then back out). The achievement should pop.

Yeah, that's why I didn't say only that and that it would work for everyone, just stating that by some luck it did for me, and if it does for others would save them a bit of time.

You can also do the customise animal at Beorns Homestead for this achievement (when you beat his level and are continuing the story - when you ride the ponies again).. Press Y, go inside and then just change it.. bleepbloop!

There are two different customizers in this game, a character and a creature, and using either of them will unlock this achievement. 

The creature customizer located at Beorn’s Homestead along the western edge of Mirkwood. Fast travel to that location, and when facing the eagle statue, turn to the right and into the building with the three vertical windows on the left (these glow orange at night). The entrance is on the right of this building.

To activate the customizer, walk onto the floor plate of the desired creature (horse, pony, warg or troll [which requires a big-fig character to unlock first]). Select your creature to customize, and once the doors open, change anything about the creature (name, color, etc.). The achievement will unlock soon after.

While at Beorn’s Homestead, if you have 45,000 studs, you can unlock “Beorn Again.”

The character customizer is in Lake-town. From the eagle statue, walk right from the statue and the shop is the first building on the right.
