How to unlock the The greed of Dwarves achievement in LEGO The Hobbit - Definitive Guide
Just an FYI the in game counter is goofy. It does not count your bricks until you forge something with them. For example: if it says I currently have 12 bricks with 145/250 on the right, and I use 7 to forge something, I will be left with 5 bricks in my possession and the counter will go up to 152/250.
Mithril bricks are silver bricks that you will get after missions or in middle-earth. I would recommend going for them after you have completed the campaign and have already unlocked some of the additional characters to avoid some of the backtracking. If you want to check your progress push the button.
There are different requirements you need to fulfill to get your mithril bricks:
Story-mode or free-play :
1. complete each story chapter (16 bricks in total)
2. get master-burglar in all 16 chapters (16 bricks in total)
3. collect a schematic in each chapter (16 bricks in total)
4. collect all minikits in each chapter (160 kits with 16 bricks in total)
5. collect four treasure iteams in each chapter (64 items with 16 bricks in total)
You will get 80 mithril bricks in story-mode or free play
The other 170 can be found in Middle-earth. You need to do diffferent things here as well:
Middle-earth
1. complete fetch quests, which are marked with a "?" on your map.
2. compete puzzles or mini-games
keep in mind that some of the bricks are visible on the map right away but can only be reached with certain characters or at a certain time of the day (in-game of course).
If you have trouble with a specific brick or a specific schematic/treasure item, please refer to the link of the forum post on xboxachievement.org below. There you'll find everything you need to help you out. Credit goes to HappyThumbsGaming for this exellent written guide.
