I second what MitoticActivity says. I had downloaded the patch, and thought I needed the whack-a-mole brick in Amon Hen. It kept respawning and not counting. Turned out it was the brick in the cave near the shore. Saved me a 2nd playthrough.

Achievement says "Single Player" - does that mean if I'm playing the game co-op that it won't unlock?

@Spiffing WotWot: if you play the game in co-op (split screen is the only available) it counts towards the single player as it does not really have multiplayer. So if you would play the game in co-op everything found on that save of your profile will be kept.
hope this helps.

Is there a glitch when the second player collects a brick? I had 102 bricks and went into free play with a friend. He collected one of the bricks at weather top and my total stayed at 102. When I went back to see if it was still there in single player, it was gone as if I had collected it, but my total never went up. Am I screwed?

@th0rnapple Not that I'm aware of one, it might be that you already collected that brick before and that might be thee reason why it didn't count towards yours. Hope this helps you.

I'm sure th0ornapple has figured tis out by now, but in case anyone else needs to know, a second player collecting mithril bricks in co op mode will not f*ck up your playthrough. I played almost the entire game in co op mode with my kids and the pause screen count was off my more than a dozen when I got the final brick and the cheevo popped right away though separately from another that popped at the same time.

^ Is it the Amon Hen one? Might not be glitched, see the following discussion:

If anyone is having trouble getting what is likely the final brick in Amon Hen (the one that appears on the map to be on the center of the plateau), refer to this link for the solution.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40...

In short, if you use the map to mark the brick, the ghost stud trail is entirely inaccurate. It leads to the whack-a-mole brick. Complicating matters, the whack-a-mole white brick is buggy and will continually spawn leading one to believe it didn't count toward your total. The solution however is that the final brick is actually underneath the plateau in a cave - jump down along the elf pole side, fish out a crank from the nearby dock, open the cave gate and solve the easy puzzle inside.

I should give some warning to a trick that got me several times til I saw a way around it.

The game has a horrible habit of forcing you to swap to player 2 at the worse times, e.g. when you need to swap from Legolas to Gollum to climb walls.
Just make sure you have a second controller plugged in as then it can never swap to that character. The smaller screen size isn't that bad, but this method is damn vital at times.
Climbing Isengard Tower to get Saruman and two mithril bricks springs to mind.

If you hold Y, then pick the bottom option to bring up the full character select, it will never swap to the other character.

Obviously, using items instead of characters is also safe.

Perhaps it was just my game that did that to me.

Naw, I have the exact problem you do. Karachi's method works, but is slow.

Had the exact same problem. Was getting SOOO frustrated trying to climb Isengard tower.

Been there too!! ...and just to add to Karachi King comment... this game doesn't always 'wait' to see how long you are 'holding' the Y button. Ive had it switch on me a number of times when trying to pull up the character wheel... (I bought the digital version on sale in summer 2014 - in case people thought this was only disc related). but Karachi King is correct...if you are able to use your Mithril items instead of character abilities...it will keep you sane...

This trophy requires you to collect all 250 Mithril Bricks. They are broken up in the following manner:

90 for Story levels:

  • One for every story level completed, for a total of 18.
  • One for all 10 Minikits in a level, for a total of 18.
  • One for collecting the Blacksmith Design Recipe in a level, for a total of 18.
  • One for obtaining all 3 Treasures in a level, for a total of 18.
  • One for achieving True Adventurer in a level, for a total of 18.

130 for Middle-Earth:

  • Completing all of the Fetch Quests in Middle-Earth that requires you to deliver a non-mithril Treasure item found in one of the story levels (i.e. a Fetch Quest that doesn’t reward you with a Red Brick). This will reward you with 30 mithril bricks.
  • The final 130 can be found in Middle-Earth during free roam.

To reveal the locations of the Mithril Bricks and Fetch Quests in Middle-Earth, interact with the Map Stones in each area with . Note that in the pause menu, the number of Mithril Bricks shown out of 250 is not how many you have collected, but how many you have used to craft Mithril items at the Blacksmith. Therefore, you will need to add that number and the number of Mithril Bricks in your bag to determine how many you have collected.

There are 250 total Mithril Bricks to collect. There are 5 per chapter, with one for story completion, true adventurer, minikit completion, treasure completion, and finding the Mithril item design. That makes for 90 Mithril Bricks found in story chapters. The remaining 160 will be found as you explore Middle Earth. Use your map and the Mithril Brick Finder extra to make this easier.
