thanks for the list mate - and thanks for mentioning that you had to activate them - not sure if that's as doh-worthy as missing the one in Hobbiton

Yep, that's what I did. Just walking by them doesn't activate them!!!!

Also if you play as co-op and your partner activates one, it doesn't count. You need to activate it again with your main profile

Thanks.
When looking at the map you can spot the ones you haven't activated as there won't be many items round them.

Yes YOU must activate them all by pressing "B" Once you have completed the game, all of them will be visible on the map. Just fast travel to them, activate them and the 30G's will be yours! Thanks for the list!

There are 16 map stones in Middle-earth that you are required to find for this achievement. There is one located after most levels and they are often in the centre of hub areas. As you progress through the game the map stones will appear on your world map. However, this does not mean that you have unlocked them. In order to unlock the stones you must go up to each stone and press B. This will activate the stone and will make all the quests, purchasable characters, and collectables in that hub area appear on the world map. This is useful for those going for the 100% completion achievement.

Many people have mistaken the stones appearing on the map for them being unlocked. This is not the case. Each one must be used in order for them to be activated. You will know when you have found one you have not already activated because it will zoom in from far away to the specific area on the world map. If the achievement still does not unlock, like what occurred for me after rotating through and using each stone multiple times, than you should restart your XBOX 360 and try again. I can tell you from experience that this works. Also in my case of restarting the XBOX 360 it was Amon Hen that unlocked resulting in the achievement popping. The area’s collectables were visible prior to fast travelling there. Therefore, if you restarted the XBOX 360 you can not look for the collectables being visible as a sign that a stone is active.

The map stones can be found in the following locations:

- Hobbiton
- Bree
- Weathertop
- Rivendell
- The Pass of Caradhras
- Lothlorien
- Amon Hen
- Emyn Muil
- The Dead Marshes
- The Black Gate
- Isengard
- Helm's Deep
- Edoras
- Minas Tirith
- Minas Morgul
- Cirith Ungol

Hopefully this guide will have saved you some time and made for an easy 30 gamerscore.

Amon Hen was the last one for me too. I think I was following them in a line and wrapped right around it. Good thing you mentioned it!

There is a total of 16 map stones in Middle-earth listed below

1 - Hobbiton
2 -Bree
3 -Weathertop
4 -Rivendell
5 -The Pass of Caradhras
6 -Lothlorien
7 -Amon Hen
8 -Emyn Muil
9 -The Dead Marshes
10 - The Black Gate
11 -Isengard
12 -Helm's Deep
13 -Edoras
14 -Minas Tirith
15 -Minas Morgul
16 -Cirith Ungol

Even after you activate your first one all will show on your map making them easy to track but you must still go to all of them and activate them one by one.

(If done on co-op only player 1 will get the achievement, if no achievement just go through the list again to confirm you have activated all of them even if they are on your map).

Map stones are your fast-travel markers throughout Middle Earth. Press O while in front of them to active, unlocking the location of the collectibles in that area. When you've completed the game the locations of all 16 are shown, but the trophy will only pop when you have activated them by pressing O. So keep track before you complete the game, or check for which areas are lacking collectibles on the map.

Map Stones are located in:

- Amon Hen
- The Black Gate
- Bree
- Cirith Ungol
- The Dead Marshes
- Edoras
- Emyn Muil
- Helm's Deep
- Hobbiton
- Isengard
- Lothlórien
- Minas Morgul
- Minas Tirith
- The Pass of Caradhras
- Rivendell
- Weathertop

A Map Stone is a statue of a LEGO figure reading a map. These act as fast-travel points in Middle-Earth and when you hover your cursor over them, they show how many collectables are in each area. There are 16 to unlock, which is achieved by standing in front of it and pressing .

You will no doubt find most of these naturally when walking through Middle-Earth during the main story, but if you missed any, you can fast travel to any Map Stone (even if you haven’t already activated it) and then activate it. You will know when you have activated a Map Stone as all the collectables in that area will have dropped onto the map when you press .

The following is the chronological order of Map Stones:

  • Hobbiton
  • Bree
  • Weathertop
  • Rivendell
  • The Pass of Caradhras
  • Lothlórien
  • Amon Hen
  • Emyn Muil
  • The Dead Marshes
  • Edoras
  • Helm’s Deep
  • Isengard
  • Minas Tirith
  • Minas Morgul
  • Cirith Ungol
  • The Black Gate

There are 16 Map Stones to find and activate with around Middle Earth. You can grab these as you're traversing the world during the story, or go for them all afterwords. The only two I didn't have activated after playing through story mode were Isengard and Helm's Deep. Activating these is EXTREMELY useful, as you can use them to fast travel and show the locations of collectibles in the area on your map. The list of all the Map Stones is as follows:

  • -Hobbiton
  • -Bree
  • -Weathertop
  • -Rivendell
  • -The Pass of Caradhras
  • -Lothlorien
  • -Isengard
  • -Amon Hen
  • -Emyn Muil
  • -The Dead Marshes
  • -The Black Gate
  • -Helm's Deep
  • -Edoras
  • -Minas Tirith
  • -Minas Morgul
  • -Cirith Ungol
