How to unlock the The Lord of the Ring. achievement in LEGO The Lord of the Rings - Definitive Guide

The bonus level is unlocked after you've completed the whole game. It's located in Rivendell in a secret location which you will be guided to after the credits are through. Follow the path and once you're there, there will be a painting of LEGO studs, stand on the highlighted ground and press B.

Once you get to the bonus level...SMASH STUFF! If you've ever played any LEGO games (and their bonus levels), then you know what to do. Smash just about everything you can find until you reach 1,000,000 studs. This particular bonus level seemed easier than others (like LEGO Batman 1 & 2) since you don't need to change to different characters so much. Just Legolas for the tightrope part.

It took me a while especially since there are no guides (except this one now, I guess). I don't know if they give you more than enough things to reach one million because there are some buldings that wouldn't continue to break.

Sorry, no video. As I said there seems to be no guides what so ever for this game (especially on TA).

There's way more studs in the bonus level than you need. I would suggest going for all the big buildings before destroying all the small stuff. The buildings usually give you tens of thousands of studs, and virtually all of them can be completely destroyed. One thing I found very useful was using the Gimli Ground Smash (Press "A" and then "X") -- Sauron can also do this. It usually destroys something completely which would otherwise have taken multiple hits.

It actually unlocked for me without getting 1 million studs...I exited the level after getting about 30K, and the achievement popped. Not sure if that was a glitch or not...

I had to stay in until I had 50k studs to get it to pop.
Same result on PS3 as well.

I backed out after about 15k studs, achievement popped. Do you get any prizes for actually beating the level?

Nvm, found out you just get to keep the 1million. Although a tip for anyone who wants to do the full level anyway - sheep are wrecking machines. After I blew up all the buildings with a berserker, I just wrangled myself a sheep. All the bushes/trees are instantly destroyed when you run into them on an animal, and sheep are way faster than that oliphaunt looking thing.

Every building can be completely destroyed, but some are picky about which parts you break first. If you can't seem to break a building anymore, try switching to Legolas and jumping onto the roof/second floor, most of the time, you can start breaking parts up there, then work your way down.

To paraphrase this guide.

"The difficulty with this achievement is finding the place to do it."

"The area is located somewhere in Rivendale. Good luck finding it!"

The location is south east of Rivendell. If you follow the black line behind Rivendell through the mountain images you will see a Mithrill brick that looks like it's inside a doorway.
It's to the right of the Gimli character and to normal looking mithril bricks. You may need to discover the mapstone in Rivendell for my description to be helpful.

Unless I missed something I would disagree with the commenter who said 'there's way more than 1 million studs' I literally had to break almost everything on the level...

Hey guys what I did was I backed out after the bonus level saved and exited the game I got the achievement without collecting all the studs I was really surprised. If it works out for you let me know because this could be a glitch.

Hey guys So they basically fixed a patch for this achievement but If it still works let me me know because it may not work again :)

GoD version worked for me as well. Backed out as I thought I couldn't collect any more studs and it popped and saved the two characters.

This solution no longer works. Perhaps the patch that fixed the Moria and co-op achievements (which could be obtained the same way as the solution above) fixed this, too. It's also possible that cleaning your system cache and refusing the patch will help.

However, I just went back in and did it normally and got the achievement. Oddly enough, saving/exiting after a few studs did complete the bonus level and unlock free play - just no achievement until I actually earned 1,000,000 studs.

It is possible to get this achievement simplistically, even after the patch. Simply uninstall the aforementioned patch, (clear system cache,) and load up the level.

(Fast travel to Rivendell; it is behind the waterfall the studs lead to.) Build a few objects to garner some studs, save, then exit. It will net you the achievement and both Sauron and TMo Sauron.

Obviously you will not get the million studs, but the red brick multipliers should assuage any concerns about amassing them.

There are more than 1 000 000 studs available on the level (not like lego indiana jones for example).

So smash every thing & don't worry if you do not destroy every plant or little rocks.

The bonus level is playable after completing the main story. It is located behind the waterfall in Rivendell, and best accessed through fast travel to save you running across the entire map.

The objective is to amass 1,000,000 studs while destroying the whole of middle earth!

In order for the bonus level to be unlocked you will have to have finished all main story missions and then return to Rivendell.

make your way to the council meeting area and bypass it going to the waterfall and pass through it in the middle of the cafe will be the mission start.

You will have to destroy pretty much everything in this level, and it will be a lot faster if you use a character who can use explosives, like the Berserker. If you don't have the Berserker by the time you get to this level, you can use the code UE5Z7H to get him.

The Bonus Level is unlocked when you complete the game. After finishing the final level, either follow the trail of translucent blue studs to Rivendell, or simply fast travel there. Then find the waterfall they lead to and go behind it to find the entrance to the level.

If you’ve played any of the other LEGO games, you will know that the Bonus Level is about destroying as many things as possible to collect 1 million studs. This time, instead of a LEGO town unrelated to the subject matter of the game, there is a small replica of Middle-Earth to destroy as Sauron and the Mouth of Sauron.

Unlike previous LEGO games, you do not have to milk practically every last stud and destroy everything to reach the target of 1 million. It should come quite easily with some buildings left to spare. Also unlike previous games, you get to keep the 1 million studs you collect and you also unlock the two characters for use in Free Play.

Once you hit the 1 million stud mark, the level will automatically end and you will collect this trophy.

The bonus level can be found in Rivendell after completion of the final story chapter "Mount Doom". Follow the ghost studs or fast travel to the Map Stone in Rivendell and check your map for the location of the level. Smash your way to one million studs to unlock this achievement. Unlike most other LEGO games, there are more than 1 million studs within this level, so you don't have to destroy everything.
