You can either spawn in 2 animals or simply find them but when you get close to an animal, sometimes they will want a certain item, for an example, squirrels want nuts, monkeys want bananas, when you give them what they want they will follow you around and be considered tamed and now a pet and the achievement will unlock once you have 2 animals following you around, pretty simple

Pets are animals that you can discover throughout the game, that once tamed will follow you around the world you are in for a period of time. Taming requires at least an inventory to be given to them. Which usually is food of some sort. Aggressive animals will need to be defeated in a fight before they will allow a quest to occur. Do this to two animals in the same world, and the trophy will pop (can be the same animal type, or two different animals).

Either find or place two animals that have thought bubbles with an item over their head. Give them the items and they will start following you. You can get this as part of "Pied Piper of Squirreldom."
