Chests will be marked on your minimap with an icon and in the world with a gold beam of light. They often spawn in underground caves, so the easiest way to get to them is to use your Landscape Tool to remove ground until you reach it

You will find these strewn throughout the world, and will be opening several of them through your playthrough. Keep in mind, the chests in the Tutorial do not count towards the trophy. Once you open one in an open world, you will get the trophy.
