How to unlock the The Courage to Protect achievement in Library Of Ruina - Definitive Guide
This fight is modestly insane, and probably should be one of the last things you do on Star Of The City. You'll know where you are at after the first two rounds, so quitting and restarting a few times won't be the worst thing as you don't spend books to do realizations.
Here was my lineup:
Gebura with Red Mist obviously...
Addons:
Myo's Prowess (With the infinity dice, you always get the +5, which is neat)
Lone Fixer: I ended up not using this but I was teasing the idea of hitting mound of corpses with the emotions and turning Gebura into Wonder Woman. But, it never showed up, and I ended up finishing with all 5 alive. So you could replace this with more blunt damage if you felt the urge.
Punch To The Solar Plexus:
Deck:
3x Puppet Blockade
3x Upstanding Slash
1x Duel
1x Deep Drag
1x Repressed Flesh
Rando Librarian #1, Allen's Page, Addons:
Grade 7 Fixer: Pierce Stagger +2
Grade 8 Fixer: Pierce Stagger +1
Oscar's Page: Piercer, Jolting Puncture, and Wedge
Deck:
3x Frontal Assault
1x Mend Weapon
3x Gale Kick
1x Sparking Spear
1x Laceration
Rando Librarian #2; Yujin Page, Addons:
Kalo - Threefold Tenacity
Emma - Acrobatics
Sayo - Battle Ready
Deck:
3x To Overcome crisis
3x Clone
3x Rapid Gashes
Rando Librarian #3, Purple Tear, Addons:
Yae for Overflow, excess, and repairs
Church of Gear Worshiper for Puffy, Engine, and Meat Gear (although I'll freely admit Meat Gear is weak here, replace with whatever you see fit)
(First three are singletons)
Slash Deck: Draw of the sword, Test Run, Flash of Sunup, Multislash, Serpent Sword Tech, Execute, Defense Order, a Critical Moment, Vapour
Pierce Deck: Smoking Pipe, Graze The Grass, Mend Weapon, Extract Fuel, Guidance of the Gears, Sparking Spear, Somber Procuration, Smoke Prick, Will of the Prescript
Blunt Deck: Puppet Blockade, Smoking Pipe, Gigigig, Inhale Smoke,Multislash, Smoke Blow, Smoke Prick, Deep Drag, Loss of Senses
Guard Deck: 3x Smoking Pipe, 3 x Smoke Blow, 1xDeep Drag, 2 xLoss of Senses
Rando Librarian #4. Nikolai, Addons:
Maxim for Maximum Crash
Nemo for emergency resuscitation
Deck:
3 x Graze The Grass
2 x Leap
2 x Bulky Impact
2 x Concentration
After typing all those out, I get why not too many lineups are posted. :)
Gebura will be your ace, so most of your emotions should fall on her unless one looks really juicy for someone else. Round one, I would make sure Yujin can clone twice. If not, restart as you aren't invested. If you pour it on round one, you should be able to half not attack round 2 and let Red finish off the wolf. If you kill the wolf before Red does, just restart, no reason to torture yourself.
Round two, if you can't stun him on the onset, just restart. No reason to go down a man. Keep in mind Gebura will have the 5 cost ego card out of the gate, so you can use that to start the fun. With any luck, Yujin will have a few gashes to rip at this point as he won't be too exciting during the Red fight except to set the table for the rest of the realization.
If you get past those two, the rest should be smooth sailing. When friends of the boss show up, be sure to murder them swiftly (like corpses for example) and have Gebura steal as much focus as you can, as she'll be dialing up some insane numbers as the scenes progress and can block most everything with mad damage thanks to Myo. Plus the 6 drop ego card that will come with summoning Red can just be a flat out wipeout to the board, often doing 50 damage a head. The last phase is Mimicry, and round one shouldn't be a problem. When he cocoons, I wouldn't even bother trying to stop him, I would only attack with light regeneration cards and card draw to get ready for phase 3.
They were nice enough to make the difficult part of this one at the beginning, so as long as you run the first two untouched, you should make it out ok.
