How to unlock the The Story of a Stranger Girl achievement in Lies of P - Definitive Guide

Important Note - Be sure to talk to every NPC when you see their Icon in the teleportation menu, this means they have new dialogue, and this will advance their storylines! (Do NOT talk to Eugenie before talking to Venigni to decipher the Crypic Vessel)

Keep in mind that to achieve this you must tell the truth in the last dialogue with her. This may have an effect on whether or not you can get the Golden Lie Special Weapon, so I'd advise doing this on a 2nd playthrough telling truths if you're not already doing so.

Eugenie's story centers around "Alidoro", the Hound-masked NPC that turns your boss ergo into special weapons or amulets. At the end of chapter 7, after defeating the boss "Victor the Champion", return to Hotel Krat and talk to Eugenie, and she will ask that you give Alidoro a glove that she made for him.

Alidoro will not be in his usual spot in the hotel but will be in the Barren Swamp. Continue through the swamp and you'll eventually run into him, he'll be standing in the path that you need to go. (Near the shortcut you make that leads to the first stargazer, by pushing the mine cart). Give him the glove and use every dialogue option with him. Return to Eugenie, and tell her the truth, which is that the glove did not fit him. (Lying to her here will not void the achievement, but be wary about the availability of getting the Golden Lie Special Weapon)

In chapter 10, after defeating the Rabbit Brotherhood for the 2nd time, you will find Alidoro standing on your way to the next area. Talk to him and use every dialogue option, you will see that you have the option to attack him, but don't worry, he's not a boss, and he will die in 1 hit. (He will be replaced by Hugo, located in the same spot at the hotel.)

He will drop a "Cryptic Vessel", return to Hotel Krat (Do NOT talk to Eugenie before talking to Venigni and read the note from the Crypic Vessel) and have Venigni decipher it, and read its contents. Talk to Eugenie, and tell her the truth which is "He was Eugénie’s older brother". Leave the Hotel (Teleport somewhere else) and come back to talk to her, and you will get the achievement!

I got this even tho I lied about the glove, so I'm not entirely sure the truth/lie about the glove matters

Did not have an option to attack Alidoro in NG+ with just the above. I think because I didn't get the poster from Hugo and confront Alidoro with it, and/or I don't think I talked with Eugenie about him switching off security. I guess you have to do everything here:

Suffice to say, but I'm rather annoyed I'll need a deep 3rd run on NG+2 to 1000 this now.

@Nesmaster - Sorry to hear about that. Generally you should talk to every NPC, and exhaust all dialogue options when you see their icon on the teleport menu, as it will become unavailable in certain points of the game. Regarding all other NPC quests lines, it is necessary to advance their story.

I’ve double checked with multiple guides and it looks like the the wanted poster with Hugo is not necessary. Also, I don’t think it was ever brought up with Eugenie.

Yeah, wasn't a problem on my lie run in NG, as I was doing just that. But nowhere stated the steps for this achievement, and by extension the record that goes with it, totally correct. Not in my experience here, anyway.

For example, Powerpyx's guide only says to "attack Alidoro in Chapter 10 and read the note once decrypted" with no other listed steps. After doing everything I set out to in NG. just bothered that I somehow mucked this up even with guides.

One addition. If you speak to her before talking to Venigni (which I did out of habit), you will not get an extra dialogue from her after you read the letter. Hopefully this gets patched. I had to google if there was some extra dialogue in the story and turns out there was.

@LogOfOne - I’m sorry to hear about that. I should emphasize on the guide to not talk to her before Venigni. It’s really finicky about the order of which who you talk to.

@Pocket1 - For this achievement you actually need to tell the truth. The option was that you tell her it was her brother, not lying which was that he was just a talented stalker.

But don't worry to much, as for her quest line you will get a record for telling the truth and a lie. So in New Game+ choose to tell to the truth AND get the other record for that achievement as well.

Yea I am not getting the Eugenia dialogue after reading the cryptic vessel, and I cannot remember who I talked to first. I am almost done with my second playthrough and really don't want to play through again just for this achievement. Maybe I will just wait for a patch.

I don't think this will be patched as it doesn't really seem to be a bug. You finished her dialog with the information you had and then you did the cryptic vessel. At that point her quest is already "complete" so it just does nothing.

If going for the Rise of P ending, how risky is it to tell the truth to Eugenie? I've told the truth maybe twice, or 3 times max. Also I've played records a lot and prayed at the alter for extra humanity

Did the third run earlier today. Make sure you talk to Eugenie twice in a row when giving her the news about what Alidoro thought of the glove. The choice doesn't affect being able to attack Alidoro, but missing the second conversation locked me out of this quest.

This is somewhat confusing. So glove choice does not matter. Must get the proof from Hugo Ali is a liar and confront him about it. Then must kill him in this third location. Then tell Eugenie the truth.

@OurEvilLetterP7 - Apologies if it's confusing for you. What you just said is right, just missing the Cryptic Vessel after killing him after beating the rabbit brotherhood and afterward.

After choosing to kill him, he will drop the Cryptic Vessel. Return to Hotel Krat and first have Venigni decipher it. Read the note from Eugenie's brother, and then talk to Eugenie. Choose to tell the truth which was "He was Eugénie’s older brother". Do it in that order, don't talk to Eugenie before deciphering the Cryptic Vessel and reading it!

You have to use the fountain portal and then return, you cannot just exit the front of the hotel(which is what i did)

I made it here in 8 hours and somehow blocked myself out of this one. No dialogue to attack him. Maybe I forgot to tell her about the glove. She doesn’t have any additional dialogue either. So stupid.

That is so stupid that it locks you out completely, I had the vessel and everything I just talked to Venigni directly after her because it was a blind playthrough and I didn't know it was for her. Why doesn't it just give her the dialog after you decipher it?

@LoneWolf 16X - To be honest, it’s hard to tell, which is why many people say to go all in on lying or telling the truth in a playthrough.

However, if you’re going for the Rise of P ending, you should definitely be trying to also get the special weapon “Golden Lie” which requires a large amount of humanity. If you don’t get the Golden Lie, then you would have to do another lie playthrough which would be a waste if you’ve gotten the Rise of P ending already.

In addition, you would need to do New Game+ to get the achievements you can’t get in your first playthrough, such as the Free from the puppet string ending which is the truth ending, and other truth related achievements.

You have to complete the questline of Eugenie for this achievement.
Talk To Eugenie (in fact with every NPC) at every opportunity. (You can check at Fast Travel point to see if any NPC has any dialogue or side quest).

It's Game long side quest. (I played Lie playthrough first and then Truth Playthrough in NG+ where I got this achievement. And for this achievement you need to tell the truth )

1. Get Gloves from Eugenie for Alidoro after chapter 7 before going to Barren Swamp area for Chapter 8. You will notice Alidoro is not at the hotel.

2. Give Gloves to Alidoro at Barren Swamp area. he is standing at unmissable path in Barren Swamp.

(Hugo will also give some dialogue and a pamphlet about Alidoro, about which you can actually ask from Alidoro directly.)

3. Talk to Eugenie at Hotel, tell her truth.
Timestamp: 05:03:00 (Part 3/ NG+ video)

4. After defeating Black rabbit Brotherhood the second time in Chapter 10: Relic Of Trismegistus, you will meet with Alidoro again. Exhaust all dialogues with him and in the end kill him with one hit. You will get Alidoro's Cryptic Vessel.

5. Go to Hotel and First thing is to Decrypt Alidoro's Cryptic Vessel with Venigni and only after you talk to Eugenie again.

6. Tell her the truth 'He was Eugenie’s older brother'. Then simply 'use the stargazer', you don't need to fast travel anywhere.

7. Talk to Eugenie again. Exhaust all dialogues with her. You will get a record 'Proposal, Flower, Wolf Part 1' and this achievement.

(Note: If you are in your lie playthrough, you will not get the achievement but another record 'Far East Princess'. And you need both records for Golden Melody achievement.)

During Chapter 10, you will encounter Alidoro, the Stalker with the wolf’s head. You will have the chance to kill him – do it. Pick up his Cryptic Vessel and take it to Venigni to solve. Now talk to Eugenie, and you will have the dialogue option “He was Eugénie’s older brother.” That is the truthful answer, by the way, so it makes sense to go after this achievement in your truth playthrough.

Missable trophy. After decrypting Alidoro's crypto-vessel, talk to Evgenia and tell the truth . If you follow the path of lies, you can make a save to the cloud after decryption, tell her the truth, get the trophy and return the save.

Important! After killing Alidoro, do not talk to Evgenia until you decipher the crypt. Talk, say he was a brother, smoke at the geyser and talk again.

I will also add to the author above. Since on the 2nd playthrough, without deciphering the crypto-vessel, Alidoro talked with Evgenia, received a gold plate, but ruined the trophy, since there was no option with his older brother. On the 3rd playthrough, he told the truth about the glove, killed Alidoro, deciphered it from Venigna and talked to Evgenia, told the truth - that Alidoro was her older brother, but the trophy did not fall out. I quickly skipped the newly found records, went to the random Stargazer and returned to the hotel, a dialogue with her opened and the trophy fell out.

Yes, the most important point is that after killing Alidoro, do not run to talk to Evgenia, I made such a mistake on the first playthrough, so instead of the point about the older brother, I had a point about the fact that the fake Alidoro killed the real one. In theory, this is a mistake of the developers, because both of these facts are true, and ideally, if you follow the path of truth, then you need to tell Evgenia both of them. But for the trophy, it is about the older brother that needs to be said, and for this, after killing Alidoro, first decipher the crypto-vessel, read the decryption, and then go talk to Evgenia.
