How to unlock the King of Puppets achievement in Lies of P - Definitive Guide

Very challenging boss fight.

We have access to some new things though to help us out. Make sure your harvesting gold coin fruit from the tree at Hotel Krat. You can use these at the vendor to get better wishstones. I like the ones that buff your specter with elemental damage. I used the Lighting Wishstone for this boss.

We also now have access to the vendor in Malum District who sells throwing objects. I went to him and bought 5 power cells, 3 saws, 3 cluster grenades and equipped them to my toolbet. You could buy even more if you wanted.

This is sort of a cheese method that worked for me.

Phase 1 - Cast wishstone and weapon grindstone/abrasive and try to blow the boss quickly. Use pulse cells to stay alive. Hopefully the boss stays on your specter and you can phase the boss rather quickly.

Phase 2 - (If you got to phase 2 and you still have your specter and some pulse cells I recommend trying the cheese method, if not wipe and try again so you don't have to go buy throwing objects every time.)

Once phase 2 starts I waited for the boss to attack the specter and started throwing all my thrown objects at him. I also used the falcon eyes legion arm to damage him at a distance as well. I was able to get him to about a 1/4 hp this way. After that just be patient use fable arts if you have it and try to guard his fast attacks.

King of Puppets can be a difficult boss to defeat. The fight is divided into 2 phases with the second phase adding increased speed and difficulty. If you are planning to use a specter, don’t waste materials on it until after you can are familiar with phase 1 mechanics. Any electricity attacks (Electric Blitz Grindstone bought from Venigni’s butler) will add bonus damage against the King.

Gear Setup
What gear you bring to the fight is entirely up to you and should match the attributes you have leveled up. Here is the setup that was used in making this guide:
  • Weapon: Bone-Cutting Sawblade +6 & Big Pipe Wrench Handle
  • Legion Arm: Aegis
  • Amulets: Life, Carrier’s, & Black Cat’s (not intentional)
  • Frame: LADA F150
  • Converter: Workshop Union Standard Corrosion Resistance
  • Cartridge: Belford Disruption
  • Liner: Workshop Union Certified
Phase 1
During phase 1, block or parry the King of Puppets’ attacks. When the boss staggers, run to the front and attack his weak spot just to the right of his head. If you brought a specter with you, apply electricity to your blade as soon as the King starts focusing on it.
  • Wind Up Punch: When the King spins fully around, he will punch which should be guarded or parried.
  • Vault: If you see the boss place both fists on the ground, he will use them to jump to another location in the room.
  • Cyclone: When the King’s upper body spins with wind effects, run away to avoid AoE damage.
  • Extended Arms: Occasionally, one or both of the King’s arms will extend out for a punch or a sweeping motion which should be blocked.
  • Flurry of Punches: If you see the boss yell, it will be followed up by a series of punches. Block if you’re the target or try to get out of the way when the yell starts.
Phase 2
In phase 2, you will fight Romeo who was controlling the King’s shell in the first phase. He is much faster and uses a scythe for attacks. At the start of the phase, repair your weapon. Optionally, activate the Cube to buff the specter or apply a Blitz Abrasive for more damage output. If you manage to stagger Romeo, his weak point is just to the right of his head again.
  • Scythe Attacks: Standard scythe attacks should be blocked or parried (preferred).
  • Jump Spin: Occasionally, Romeo will spin in the air to reach you followed by an overhead slam. Get out of the way or guard to mitigate damage.
  • Fire Flurry: When you see Romeo applying fire, be ready for a long chain of fire strikes. Try to get out of the way or guard through them and heal immediately after.
  • Fire Trail: After applying fire, Romeo will leave a fire trail behind him as he dashes around the arena. Don’t stand in the fire.

Story-related and unmissable.

The King of Puppets has big accordion-like arms that lash about, and the best way to avoid damage is to time your evasive dash so that you get in close to his feet. There you can deal a fair chunk of damage, and when he winds up to strike down at you with his arms, this attack is very easy to parry. He is sensitive to electrical attacks, so I would opt for an electric Gindstone, to imbue your favoured weapon with extra charge, or to use the Fulminis Legion Arm, and give him a few good jolts.

In the second phase of the fight, you will be fighting Romeo, a more humanoid figure who lunges at you with a kind of scythe. Really, at this point it feels as if you’re fighting one of the Stalkers. This portion of the fight is possibly easier than the last, as Romeo’s lunges are very telegraphed, and very open to being parried. Fatal Attacks are your friend here, and you should finish him off pretty quickly and unlock this achievement.

The battle consists of two phases. In the second phase, you can use the clock and return to "Stargazer". When you enter the boss's room, he will already be in the second phase, and you will have full health and a fresh ghost.
Also, don’t forget about the ghost’s health restoration cube. If your cube is upgraded, the ghost's health can be restored several times.
This boss is vulnerable to electricity. In this battle, the “bludgeon with an electric spiral”, upgraded to level 5 + a handle that improves mobility, helped me a lot in this battle. The boss in the second phase flies away in a minute.

The boss has two stages, in the first he is presented in the form of a huge robot and is less agile, and his attacks are mostly long (not all of course). You can easily block his attacks and attack by combining light and heavy attacks.
At the second stage, the puppet itself will get out of this robot, arm itself with a scythe and will attack you with quick attacks, very often, but there will also be windows for striking, 1-2 light blows, and many attacks can be blocked, thereby assigning it counter attack after 3-4 perfect blocks. Periodically, he will set his scythe on fire and use a series of 5-7 attacks, at which point you either block perfectly or just run away until he finishes.
I advise you to use the “Electric Spiral Club” pumped up to at least +4, it has increased damage to puppets, you can finish the first stage without any problems, again combining light and heavy attacks, at the second stage you will have to work a little, but as soon as you remember his attacks, you can kill him easily.
Also use the ghost and the cube to restore the character’s HP, while he distracts the boss, you beat him (for me he survived until stage 2, until I took 50% of the boss’s HP).

The second phase, IMHO, is much easier to go through the rifts

You should go through the boss with a baton with an electric spiral, I had it pumped up to +6. If, according to the characteristics of the Persian, you have approximately pumped up to 18-19 (specifically for the baton with an electric spiral, I pumped up my mobility and talent to 20), then the battle will not be difficult.
In the 1st phase of the robot, circular blows from top to bottom (does 2 times in a row) we parry by pressing , we parry the second blow and hold it down , then press again .
Double side kicks start from his right hand, parry and press .
Floating combo punches - roll under it and deliver 1 or 2 hits
When the boss tilts his head and becomes a vacuum cleaner, we run back to a medium distance and wait for the animation to end; we can run behind him and hit him.
When the boss rises and begins to rotate, we run back to the maximum possible distance. ( UPD: When I went through this attack again, I stood close to him and did not receive damage, I was even able to inflict damage.)
In phase 2, the boss is very sharp and fast, it will be easier to beat him with dodges by circling around him counterclockwise. Keep a close distance. Diving red strike roll 2 times at the moment when it is already descending, the attack is very sharp, so it will be difficult to adapt. ( UPD: also during this attack, if you run clockwise while sprinting, the boss will miss, but will not hit you.)
Towards the middle of his HP, the boss will begin to set his scythe on fire. When you see the animation of the scythe setting on fire and hear the boss scream, you immediately jump up and deal about 4 normal blows and the attack will be knocked down (it is advisable to be at close range to the middle of his HP in order to knock down the attack in time) if not knocked down, then gg. During this phase, he sets his scythe on fire 2 times. In the end, you can throw all 5 ampoules at the zipper, you will destroy the remaining 1/3 of the HP.
