How to unlock the Trendsetter achievement in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name - Definitive Guide
Outfit items are different from equipment items, they don't provide any boost to your stats and just serve as cosmetics for Kiryu's two settings : regular game and Coliseum. You'll be introduced to this feature late in Chapter 2 during your second visit to the Castle in a place called "La Boutique", right in front of the Cabaret Club.
As you make your way up the Coliseum ranks and gain new tigers (red>silver>gold>platinum), you will unlock new items available for purchase at the Boutique. Note that reaching Platinum rank also grants you access to the Boutique's exclusive VIP backroom featuring the best equipment items in the game (though they will not count for this achievement !). You can find a list of all the outfit items in the Akame Network's activity log, under the "Adventure" tab and you can check your progress as the completion meter goes up (10-20-30 items).
If my calculations are correct, you'll need no less than 12 million yens as well as 21 000 Akame points to buy every single item (about 71 in total including your starter items). I strongly recommend you wait until reaching Platinum rank and being late in Chapter 4 until you start truly working on this. Some of the side quests/Akame Network requests will task you with equipping some of these items and one of those is only available after that part of the story where
so knowing what items are necessary and which of the most expensive ones can be skipped should help.
In order to earn all that much needed money, here are some things you can do:
- the obvious one, farm Coliseum fights. You'll need to fight a lot to upgrade the bonds with your Joryu Clan members so this will come naturally. Investing a bit of that money to upgrade your skills and abilities will give you a better time during the fights so you can earn outfit money in a quicker/easier way.
- maybe the most efficient one after enough prep work, find the gambling cheat items. All of them can be bought at Akame's shop + an extra Blackjack Amulet and Triple Yokan can be "spider-gadgetted" in the Castle's Gold rank VIP lounge and on the bar of the Fighters Lounge respectively. To give you an idea, an efficient cheating at Blackjack and Poker landed me around 75 platinum plates at once aka 15 million yen.
I hope this guide was helpful and be sure to comment what outfit your Coliseum Kiryu is rocking !
Update 1 : since this issue has been raised in the comments, let me mention once again that the Akame quest for acquiring outfit items only goes up to 30/30 and sadly the game doesn't indulge you with some 50/30 extra tracking. The only way to know how far you've gone is by manually counting the checked items through the "Playing Dress Up" (10) > "Fashionista" (20) > "Dressed to Kill" (30) entries.
If you've given this solution a like, thank you very much for the support. If for some reason, this solution has left you so dissatisfied that you instead felt the need to leave a dislike, the least you could do is to say why so that I can edit and improve it to grant you satisfaction.

thanks! Where do the other 20 pieces come from. I’m showing 30/30 but the achievement is for 50.

The tracker in the completion list only goes to 30. If you want to know how much you have once you've gone further, you have to look at the list of items and see how many are checked. As I said there are over 70 items in total so you shouldn't have an issue finding/buying the 50 required.

Once you gain access to the Boutique (which happens after just a couple of visits to the Castle), you’ll be able to spend money on various clothing items for Joryu, including hats, suits, accessories, shoes, gloves, masks and other items of sartorial wondrousness for both the street and the ring of the Coliseum. Start by purchasing the cheaper items, then work your way up to the pricier stuff, and you’ll have little trouble acquiring 50 items. To earn cash fast, just keep doing as many lucrative Coliseum battles as your team and personal fighting prowess will allow.

This refers to clothes that change the appearance, you can buy them in the boutique, as your rank increases, the assortment is replenished.
Also, some of the clothes are available in Akame's shop. And don't forget that some items of clothing can only be purchased for Arena Style and Normal Style, the same masks for the coliseum, and glasses for the agent in normal.
