How to unlock the Legend of an Era achievement in Like a Dragon: Ishin! - Definitive Guide

Hello everyone,

Just like in Yakuza 6 you can play through the Game on Easy until you reach the point of no return during the Finale and switch the Difficulty to Legend for the Final Encounters and still unlock this Achievement.

Here is the Equipment I used during my Playthrough:

Katana: Okanehira

Comes with the Flame Seal which will stun 99% of all Enemies in the Game after 4 Hits. (Works on all Endgame Bosses, on Amon as well if I remember it right). I also enhanced it with the Repentance Seal (aka Change of Heart) which increases Attack based on how much Virtue you currently have. After forging every piece of Equipment needed for the Completion List I sold it all and ended up with 1.3 Million Virtue which put my Attack at 3000.

Special: None

Gun: Golden Gun

You can get this one in the Gambling Den for 100k Sticks. I got it early on in the Playthrough after save scumming the 5 Wins in Chicken Racing and used it for the rest of the Playthrough.

Headband: Amulet of the Gods
Breastplate: Celestial Garb
Gauntlet: Sakura Gauntlets

I got these because the Damage Reflections Seals sounded really good but they really don't do much. Just get any Last Stage Armor Piece and you'll be fine.

The Ending Battles were very Easy with the Okanehira, I only had to heal once. The Final Courtesan Minigame on Asura Difficulty was way harder than this.

Good Luck!

Thanks, the sword Okanehira worked really well with the repentance seal. Even with just 620K virtue taking my attack to 1537, I was able to complete the final chapter easily with moderate healing items.

Did you use wild dancer style to benefit from both weapons or did you stick to one in particular? Bit confused on what the best style to focus on is, or whether I should look to upgrade them all in parallel.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned it before or maybe I'm just worse than everyone else who unlocked this before, but YOU NEED TO BEAT ONLY THE VERY LAST BOSS ON LEGEND, not the whole section. So what I mean in steps:
1. Switch to Legend just before entering the point of no return.
2. Last section is divided into several checkpoints, if you can't beat a certain part, after a couple of deaths game will ask if you want to temporarily switch to easy, do that (I couldn't beat the giant, also the gun squad is very tough). At a next checkpoint you'll be back on Legend automatically.
3. You'll know who the final boss is, compared to previous fights I tried on Legend he is actually easy because he's alone in a small room, just be patient, block his attacks and you shouldn't even need much healing.
4. Achievement unlocked after credits!

As has been stated in the other guides, you can switch difficulty to legend just before the point of no return. Obviously stock up on big healing items before you go. I mostly used swordsman equipped with Okanehira the fire sword. Worked great for all boss fights. For the room with the large dude I cleaned out the trash first then switched to gunman and held RB and kept moving so I'd just keep blasting instead of doing a rush combo. For Glover, go backwards and take out the gatling gunners first. I also had auto heat and auto qte's enabled in accessibility.

What I haven't seen mentioned is how important your trooper cards are. Fill your corporal slots with the highest/best cards that add an additional slot, and all other slots with gold ranked cards, including reserve slots. The health increase these provide is essential, and I rarely dropped below orange health into red (and that's usually when I'd heal). Otherwise cards are mostly up to preference, though personally I got the most mileage out of Rikiya (explosion), Shinada (time slow), and the tiger (free damage) equipped on swordsman.

Stacks with Hero of a Nation trophy.

Unlike other Yakuza series titles, Legend mode is available from the beginning in this game. Fortunately you don’t have to complete a whole new play through this time, or even reload a save file from before the last dungeon after you have unlocked this mode like for Yakuza 6.

So good news, you can play through the game on whatever difficulty you are comfortable with to level and collect gear. Just remember to switch to Legend mode right before the last mission. They will make it very clear you should save first. You can accept the final mission from Okita/Majima at the Barracks in chapter 14/finale chapter after sparring matches with all the boys.

Plenty of healing items will be worth it, and probably make sure you have a healing trooper card. For reference/reassurance, I finished on Legend with ease despite doing the rest of the game on normal. I still had more than half an inventory full of unused healing items. I was level 63 and mainly just used sword style.

To avoid replaying the game, in the final chapter after defeating Okita Soji, switch the difficulty to Legend in the game settings. After that, go to Tosa and reach the credits.
