How to unlock the Full Medal Panic! achievement in Lips - Definitive Guide
I suggest doing this achievement on the song In Bloom by Nirvana for a number of reasons, but basically because it's slow, recognizable and easy with enough time to get each medal.
Turn on both your mics and start the song as per normal, and shake the second Lips mic when prompted, to start a score duel. You will obviously be singing into both mics at once for this achievement. And then get each medal like so:
Party
- As soon as the In Bloom video starts (While the announcer is talking), try to tap out a steady rhythm on one of the controller buttons (I was using A) once you get on rhythm there will be a tiny light behind your score, keep tapping at the same rhythm until the light grows, and by the time the music kicks in it should be huge.
- Once the music starts, start tapping to the rhythm of the music, the light may shrink a bit if the transition between the two points isn't smooth, but it'll start growing again soon.
- Get the light as large as possible, and you should get Great Party within the first two phrases of the song.
Technique
- As soon as you start singing start working on getting lots of vibrato bonuses, my natural vibrato doesn't register very effectively in Lips, so I had to resort to moving my head around, shaking my adam's apple, and generally sounding like a the victim of a vibrating hotel bed prank to get it to register.
- Try and get a few vibratos in a row, and this medal should pop somewhere near the first chorus.
- Once you have the Technique medal, stop using unnatural vibrato and concentrate on singing accurately.
Performance
- During the guitar solo of the song, start tapping the microphones against your legs or hand or whatever's comfortable to the rhythm, in order to register a tambourine sound in the game. I was alternating each microphone in like a slow drum beat when I got this.
- I don't think rhythm is hugely important on this one, but it can't hurt to try and stay on rhythm anyways.
The remaining three medals
- The final three medals can simply be attributed to "accurate singing". Once you have your Technique and Party medals just concentrate on singing as accurately as possible, and these three should pop during the song.
- Pitch is simply singing with an accurate pitch for a few phrases in a row.
- Stability is singing a phrase with a long note perfectly.
- Rhythm is simply a matter keeping in sync with the singer for a few phrases. Remember not to hum as it seems to negatively affect this medal.
I'm no Lips aficionado, so I may have gotten some details on the medal's specifics a bit wrong, so if you notice anything, please leave a comment and I'll get to fixing it ASAP.
Good luck guys!

One song that my wife and I can do this on 3 times out of 5 is Karma Chameleon (by Culture Club) on Lips Number One Hits. It really is very easy to sing (if you know it from the 80's like me). I find that the stability medal and technique medals are the ones I struggle on with most other songs, but not on this. Give it a try if you know the song and you'll be surprised at how easy it is.
The party medal unlocks on this song if you hit the first 8 percussion icons which float across the screen at the beginning of the song. At a couple of intervals, you'll have to pose back-to-back poses: if you wave your mic around during these points (there will be nothing to sing at these points), you'll easily unlock the performance medal too.

No problem - glad you found the info useful buddy.

You need to use both microphones for this and make sure you are tapping away at the 'A' button as well to get your party medal. We did it on 'Bust-a-move' - it is an easy one because you can sing/say anything into the microphone in any key - as long as you get the timing right you should get your 12 medals.

i cannot get the technique medal for the life of me, especially bust a move, how do you get a vibrato bonus on a "rap" song?

That's strange - the medal i was struggling on was the party one. The technique medal might be linked to lifting your microphone when you have enough star power? But maybe someone else can confirm that. Also try changing the pitch of your voice throughout a few lines of the song. Best of luck with it!

I got this on Karma Chameleon on Lips Number One Hits.
Just keep singing into both mics at the same time and you should get all the medals.
If, for some reason and this happened to me when I got it, you get all 6 medals on one mic, put that mic down and just then sing into the other mic to make sure that you get the achievement.

I achieved it in Vienna - Ultravox that is on the "Lips: I Love the 80s" disk at first attempt. Only used the mics, no use of the A button needed.
I was able to get this solo on my first try on I Want To Know What Love Is on Party Classics. There's a lot of alternating, and a LOT of sustained notes, which is where you can usually get enough vibrato to get you Technique medals. The end of the song splits, but by then you should either have all the medals or be able to focus on the one you're missing.
If struggling, attempt to learn/sing 'An End has a Start' by Editors as the co-op has a very reasonable pitch. If you shake both mics enough before the words, it's possible to get the difficult party medal before you even sing. Change your pitch rapidly for technique medal, then make sure to do all of the star stream actions for performance. The other 3 will come eventually, the pink rhythm medal will likely come towards the end of the song so don't worry if it wakes a while.
I got it using "Ordinary World" by Duran Duran in VS mode using both mics by myself. Even though there is a bit more in the way of verbal gymnastics than the other suggestions on this forum, there are only one gesture (for the "Performance" medal) and only the tambourine section at the beginning before the lyrics (for the "Party" medal). Holding Simon LeBon's notes at the outro is guaranteed to get you the "Technique" medal, and the flow is so simple, the other three medals are a cinch.
I REALLY struggled with this one but found it easiest on Loser by Beck. Party and Performance can be knocked out by matching the noise makers at the start, and vibrato is basically impossible to miss on the long "soooooooooooyyyyyyyyyyyyy" section in the middle of the song. This songs on the Number One Hits disc. I was trying before with Bust a Move and could very rarely get vibrato on it and trying to get the party medal beforehand made it pretty much impossible. Only took a couple very goofy performances of Loser bellowing "SOYYYY" into the mic to get the chevo for me :D
This achievement can only be achieved in Co-op. There really is no way to force this achievement. You both have to choose a song that you are very comfortable with, familiar with and know you can get 6 medals each.
Alternatively, you could try and find a song that can get the 5 medals for you by putting the microphone up to the TV and you can find the rhythm and do percusion for the last badge. You can do this for both microphones to get this. See '500x Medalist' for the list of medals and requirements.
