just a little note, me and my fiance got this and we didn't even sing the song. he picked (i'm gonna be) 500 miles which i didn't want to sing so we quit to choose a new song and *plink* achievement unlocked!

Go to 'Sing!' from the main menu. Select a song you wish to perform and on the video selection screen, go to Options and select Co-op.
An even easier way: just as the song is about to start, shake the second microphone. If you don't have a co-op partner to do this with you could hold both microphones and sing in both at the same time, or put one up to the TV.
