What Do You Need?
-Lips: Number One Hits or Lips: Party Classics or Lips: I <3 the 80s (NOT the original game)
-At least one working mic
-A USB storage device that works in the Freestyle mode

Preferred For Maximum Simplicity
-A USB microphone (I'm using a Rock Band 2 mic)
-a pair of headphones
-Some method of playing back an mp3 over said headphones
-A turbo controller
-A wired controller or a Play & Charge Kit (to prevent your controller from turning off on its own)

How It Works
In Lips Number One Hits, Lips Party Classics and Lips I <3 the 80s, the Freestyle Mode actually allows you to gain stars, unlike the first game where you couldn't. This opens up an opportunity for cheating. If what goes into the mic matches up with the MP3 that is being played, your Star Stream meter begins to fill. Once its full you can activate it and earn stars.

One of my other hobbies is making music. After some trial and error I was able to create an mp3 specifically for this purpose. Its like 38 minutes of a single synthesizer tone going over and over. Why 38 minutes? Because the Star Stream is limited to 9999 stars being earned in a single song. Once you hit that limit, you cannot earn any more Stars until the next song.

The basic idea is that you play the mp3 in Freestyle and then somehow run that same tone through the microphone. This will constantly run your score up and, if you activate it, Stars.

My specific setup for accomplishing this:
-I'm using a Rock Band 2 USB mic. This is because the Star Stream is auto-activated with this microphone, meaning you don't have to shake it at all.

I tried this method without a turbo controller and it still worked the only problem is then you have to manually start the next song. Also instead of using a computer i used my ipod but can confirm this works :).

Dunno exactly, maybe you are doing it over the network and it and stable enough to continue with it?, or maybe the file is corrupt due to incomplete download? Like i said it aint my solution, but i can confirm this works did it for me and a friend :)

Is it work on Lips International? Because I lost my save game and started a new on I <3 80's and this method works, but I changed to Lips and I'm 0 of stars! I dunno if the 200k stars only unlock on "DLC disc" or only on Lips International. That's two doubts, if it works on Lips and if it only unlock on Lips too? Can someone answers me :(

The original lips apparently uses a different save. When I boot that disc my star and medal count is different from the other three, the other three did find my original save for the first lips and used those stats to count further but when you go back to the first disc it won't be any higher there. Why this is I don't know exactly but that is the case.. Any medals you get when playing the original disc should be added to the others cause I used the double medals trick for that one :) ( when sing in battle with two mics)

@sinder inc Thanks for the information. I'll use the double medal trick on the first lips to get 1,5k medal and the star achievement on Party Classics :)

@cooorpse: Don't worry about what it says on the base disc. I've had Lips cheeves pop while I was playing I <3 the 80s. My advice would be to do as many achievements as you can on the expansion discs, then go back to Lips to finish off what you can't in other places. toast

I couldn't find an mp3 player to work. So I burned the "song" to a disk and imported ito to my xbox hd. I then played the song over my computer speakers with the mic next to it. I put the song as many times as I needed on the playlist then let it roll.

Hi, just wanted to add: if you do it with a headphone, check if you get a "cool" for "singing". First I always just got "good", then you get about 1000 stars for the song. So I put it like this: http://s1.directupload.net/images/130407/c7oasovf.jpg then it worked.

I feel bad to cheat for this achievement. But I really played the game for so many hours (about 2 years)...

I might try this just to get the last couple of chievos. I gave up because it lost my save 4 times after I got to 150,000 stars the first time.

Hey guys, I know I'm a little late to the party with this achievement but I'm having trouble getting either the lips stock microphone or a konami usb to register any input from headphones. It works ok against the Tv but it has to be loud, like, hear it three houses down the road loud, or if I sing in to it that works fine too.

Any ideas?

Did anyone have issues with the song never ending? I left it playing for like 50 mins even though its only supposed to be 34 but it never ended. So I manually ended the song and the stars didnt count. Will test it again but wasted an hour for nothing.

EDIT: Worked as intended the next time I tried. Very strange but its working now thankfully!
