You can get unlimited shinies with an easy trick. Press Y to meow before depositing and it'll deposit the can and give it back to you, but it counts the deposit and gives you a shiney still. Repeat as much as you want

You'll find shinies all over as you progress and when you recycle cans you get shinies also 200 adds up quick

If you are planning to get all the achievements, I would advise not to chase all the loose shinnies. You will have to recycle 100 cans for another achievement, which will give you 100 shinnies.
I collected 200 shinnies before bothering with the can recycling and had extra 150 shinnies after buying everything that's available.
