How to unlock the Hard to the Core achievement in Little Nightmares - Definitive Guide

Hello guys !

For this achievement you'll need to beat the game under 1 hour and without dying at all.

The worst part is the timer.A perfect run will takes you nearly 55 minutes so you'll need to be quick and don't make any mistakes.
You can't quickly quit the game during a death because there's an autosave in the same time. But if you are afraid to beat the game in one go like me,for the Xbox One version you can use the Cloud save to cheat the death.

So,in short:

- Play offline
- At the end of a chapter go online, finish the chapter and quit to the main menu after starting the next chapter (to make a backup save online)
- Go offline
- Repeat

If you die online it's dead. And if you die offline, simply go to the dashboard,go to manage the game and erase the local save (the only save available offline).Go online and download your cloud save.Go offline again and continue your walkthrough ;-)

Also here's a full walkthrough for this achievement (all credits to Games Series Network):

Some tips:

- Try to finish the game 2 or 3 times. You'll need to learn perfectly the game.
- Use a walkthrough if you want to be sure about a tricky part
- You can pause or dashboard the game ! The timer is freezed during the pause.
- Obviously, don't collect any collectibles during this run,you don't have the time for that !
- Don't hesitate to run during the infiltration sequences. The IA is a little stupid and give up easily. You can most of the time rush from start to the end of a room in one go.
- If you're in a bad position you can restart to the previous checkpoint. It's not counted as a death (but i'm not sure about timer,i used this trick 2 times during my run and won the cheevo at the end,but be careful)

Good luck and have fun ! smile

Don't hesitate to like and comment my guide if it's useful, thanks a lot !

Do you know if you can pause your game or does the timer still work against you?

Never really done the cloud save thing, can anyone explain how it works? Or what to actually do if you die?

Become my Little Nightmares buddy over the last week or so. Thanks so much for the support so far.

Like Dave, a quick explanation on cloud saving would be appreciated. I don't plan on doing it for a week or so anyway; I'm getting the other 12 and have work arrangements so i'll be trying next weekend.

Hum it's strange for your saves.I had the same problem once and i didn't know how to solve that.So i restarted since beginning :-/

But my guide works,i won the cheevo on a dummy account with this method :P

Thanks alot for the explanation. I got to the middle of chapter 4 without the save method before dying so hopefully with this it won't feel as painful if I die lol.

I just tried to do this method and it didnt work for me. i reconnected to the internet before the end of the level, quit to main menu at the beginning of the following level after it finished saving, cut internet and loaded file back up and it was fine. but during chapter 3 the cook saw me as i entered the room and couldnt get away from him and died. dashboarded, deleted internal memory, reconnected then tried to load and it just keeps reloading a save from several hours ago from before i even started trying the speed run.

Also, on xbox, maybe its just mine somehow but there is no load option. there is resume, new, and chapter select. None of which say your time so far, so you have to kind of eyeball it as you play through, which becomes slightly difficult if you try to do the cloud save

EDIT: apparently when i deleted the internal save it either didnt delete it or there were multiple saves in that one spot. I tried to delete my save a separate time and after deleting it there was still another save file there, which explains what happened with what loaded for me. So anyone trying to do the save exploit, make sure you get rid of all your saves for this game

First attempt the cloud save method worked, I was just too slow (on that notes I think restarting checkpoint, although counts as no death, does add to your time.)

Now nothing will save to cloud at all? Using the exact same method.

Can do Chapter 1 in 9-10 minutes no death, I follow the formula below

- Play offline
- At the end of a chapter go online, finish the chapter and quit to the main menu after starting the next chapter (to make a backup save online)
- Go offline
- Repeat

In Chapter 2 when I do die (offline, of course) there is no cloud save to re-load. On Attempt #1 it worked every single time. Im baffled.

When you start a chapter after you go back online are you dashboarding out or are you just going back to the games main menu, going offline and hitting Resume?

I'm getting the issue where i just seem to reload an earlier save even though i keep deleting everything.

Yeah, its not remembering any save whatsoever now, it still syncs but it loads as if the game is completely new.

For anyone who finds it isnt registering a save game, i started a new game while online, went offline after it loaded the first chapter, and done the same steps as the achievement lists and it started registering properly.

@Dave Bodom

I started the game offline so I will try that!

Also after a chapter loads I might quit out and reload 2 or 3 times to be sure it's synced.

Might had 5 seconds each chapter but it's worth it to make sure it has registered.

Still doesn't work for me.

I'm going to have to just do this one legit, I think. By the end of Chapter 3 I died offline, went to reload cloud save and it took me all the way back to Chapter 1.

If I can quit to menu when I anticipate a death then perhaps it won't be so bad. There is only 3/4 spots that i feel i'll ever die on, now. Practise with this one I think.

This is not working for me. I've double checked all my saves are gone which it only gives me one option, no local game saves it just says internal delete all. When I try to go back online it takes me back to the middle of chapter 1. I even started a new game, went offline deleted the data and went back online and it moved me up to that same stupid spot. It acts like I have a save but unless there's somewhere else I have none.Looks like I'm going to try the legit way, can't get past chapter 2 without dying right now.

Word for word what happened to me. Going to do this legit, The only bit I really get fucked on now is the Hook at the very end of Chapter 3 as the grabbing detection is so finicky. Ch 1, 4 & 5 are pretty easy. Probably take 2-3 attempts.

That's really weird. I just started the game so it will take me a day or two to even check if it will work here.

From what you guys are saying it looks like those old 360 games that saved progress in your gamertag and not on a separate save file. I've never seen it happen on the One though, not even sure if it's possible.

Avoid the black sludge - check
Escape the caretaker/janitor - check
Outwit the chefs - check
Outrun the hungry customers - check
Deal with the Lady successfully - check
Walk along a pipe without slipping off - .....no

Story of my life right there @_@
Luckily you can pause and restart the last checkpoint if like me you do tend to fall a lot from high places (it's the camera angles....honestly)

Finally got it.

Obviously i can't really test anymore but just to add to the confusing cloud save scenario;

I made it to Chapter 5 before i realised i was still online and hadn't gone offline during Chapter 4, the Geisha caught me during the small chase scene and i paused literally as the light hit me, realised i hadn't gone offline, deleted local save anyway and then reloaded (It loaded the start of chapter 5, not sure where chapter 5 checkpoints are). I died 2 more times to the Geisha this way, deleted my save each time without going offline and on the fourth try completed the game and got the achievement.

I was streaming and some friends wanted to see the ending so i stuck it out instead of restarting, quite glad now.

I just ended up doing it in one sitting, with 3/4 checkpoint restarts. I did the cloud as a backup, but I didn't need it in the end. It was my 3rd attempt and 4th play through total.

I'm still pumped with adrenaline.

Just finished the game, I'm about to try for this. I won't do the offline method at first, I'll try doing first what I usually do. Play and if a mess up (like getting a section wrong and wasting too much time or getting killed I'll quickly pull the cable and erase my local save before it can sync to the cloud.

Just did it, cloud worked as it should. I messed up only once trying to jump to that stupid chain outside the ship because of the weird camera. I quickly pulled my cable, deleted my local save (you have to do this twice) plugged back in and when I resumed the game I was were you get the 3 hams in the grinder. smile

I can never tell if I'm walking where I need to be or not and end up falling

If anybody gets their save stuck like mine I recommend what noheroes said after you get to a new chapter go to main menu like you would, then go back into the game all online, I did this a couple times. Then go offline and play the game. This finally helped sync my game and let me do this trick. Thanks a lot noheros94 for the idea.

*Edit this only has worked once for me and then doesn't. For some reason my game rarely syncs, I get the checking for updates but only once in a while do I get the sync bar showing it's fully synced. But this really doesn't explain why if i die in episode four it takes me back to episode two since I went back online at the end of chapter 2 and 3 when I beat them.

The last time this worked my chapter one was perfect so now I just have to beat the game from 2 to the end and how that works. Better than nothing but so frustrating.

F**K the game, F**K the developer, F**K the guy who came up with this achievement, F**K Microsoft for their removal of USB-transfer, F**K their shitty cloud.
This is the worst crap. God I hate all of those guys involved. angry

After many unsuccessfull sync-saves, this is what workes so far:
>Play offline
>>Before savepoint, go online (can be mid level!)
>>>after the save is complete, quit to main menu
>>>>quit the game completely!
>>>>>start the game again and resume (still online)
>>>>>>when you're back into the game, disconnect your console
>>>>>>>if you die, quit the game, delete the local save, go online and start the game again

Is it possible to simply pause the game before you die and just quit out of the game entirely?
This way, you don't have to play offline, delete your save and then restore from the cloud.
Just play online all the time and if you think you're going to die, pause it before it happens and then quit the game. Then restart the game and load up. You just have to be quick on the pause and make sure that save icon doesn't show up. If it does, then you saved too late and you have to restart from the beginning.

It seems to me the pause-before-you-die method would be less of a hassle but more of a risk.

^^I was having trouble with the cloud save part, but what Tenreth posted is what got the cloud save to sync up properly for me.

This achievement wouldn't be so bad to do legit if they gave you 3 deaths (or even 2) like Limbo does.

Thumbs up, the video helped a ton! I'd also like to add as a tip for others that are going for this achievement to max out your brightness settings. It helps tremendously so you don't get stuck on something while running or get caught by something you didn't see.

Additionally, I found a huge time saver in chapter 3 that wasn't in the video. At the 40:28 mark when you are in the kitchen and heading back through after pulling the lever to move the hooks, instead of dropping down, jump onto the table where that pillar of plates is. You can actually climb those and grab a hook here instead of going all the way back to the beginning. It saves probably 30-45 seconds.

Oh God I finished my 9th playthrough in roughly 60 minutes and 20 seconds without load times. No cheating like most of you. Now I'm just sitting and waiting the end of the credits.... God I hope I got it... I hope that last section when she goes up the stairs and Nomes look at Six doesn't count as a time. Because if it counts... I will have a heart attack. And if it doesn't pop when I start a new game I'M GONNA FLIP OUT.

FFFFFFUUUU**************!!!!!

SERIOUSLY WHY DOES THIS ACHIEVEMENT EXIST??? I didn't even die once, I didn't even use a restart function, I spent half a day trying to beat it over and over and I still didn't get a damn achievement! It's acceptable not to die but to do it in 1 HOUR????? Come on... And why does that last section where she moves sooooo slowly count???? If not for that STUPID ENDING I would have gotten it. Right after Six eats a Lady I could simply win I had 2 minutes left! But that super slooooow walk ruined it... Just for a few seconds. Come on... They gotta fix dat achievement. I hate it.

When exactly does this achievement pop? Is it before or after the end credits?

Also, do the End Credits count towards the timer?

Because I finally managed to do a no death run and I was confident I managed to beat the game in less than an hour. Or so I thought, but no achievement popped.

Lastly, do you need to start a New Game to do the Hard to the Core achievement? Or can you start it from chapter one from chapter select?

The SCHWARTZ 00 is correct. just figured this out myself. you don't have to go offline at all. you don't even have to make your save at the start of the chapter. you can literally get a back up on your cloud anywhere that you see the save logo.

go to the menu and dashboard out of the game to make sure it's saved where you want it. play your game and if you die immediately go and delete the saved data without closing the game. all of this without going offline. death and time will not count

At first I amost gave up on doing LN's achievements just because of that one. A speedrun itself wasn't that hard but with like 4 bosses (Depends on which ones you counted) all the edgy areas, and the 1H time limit, it made it way more complicated. it took me a whole day try harding and at first I counted on the checkpoints without knowing that the timer doesn't stop while doing so, the thing that helped was the cloud save (without paying offline I just had to remove the save on my console and recover it) even though it takes you way back than your last checkpoint. But god that one achievement popping up on the stairs was really satisfying. Thank you guys for your tips.

Hello, I’ve created a profile on this site to help any other poor soul trapped in the Maw trying to get this achievement, you have to exit the level and then dash board and close the game and then reboot while online and then go offline, that seems to be the best method, I’ve got the end, died due to Six spazzing out and dying and then losing all my progress, has been gut Wrenching, good luck everyone

I can confirm you don't have to go offline to do the cloud save trick. I accidentally ran off a couple of pipes during my run because of the dodgy changing camera angles. I simply brought the guide up, pressed start on LN, then manage game and deleted the file on the console only.

Do not fully back out of the game if you die or your death file will be uploaded to the cloud. You do need to fully quit out of the game to save your position for this though, otherwise an old file will remain on the cloud so I regularly exited to bookmark my place.

The achievement popped on my first try at this method. Good luck!

agree with above. You never have to play offline to save scum. If you want to upload a save to the cloud, fully exit the game and after a few seconds go back in. If you want to avoid the sync:
open the XBox menu cn_guide, press start on the game, select manage game, scroll down to save files, press cn_A on your save file, select "delete from console only".

The game will automatically close. When you go back in, it will sync from the cloud. This way you never have to go offline.

For people who have done the Cloud save method completely online, how do you know if your run has been voided? I just beat the game doing it this way in the time limit but I still didn't get it.

Is it too late to delete the save data from the console if the save symbol appears after getting caught or hitting the ground from a fall?

Finally got it!!! I died on the table in Chapter 4 where you have to zig zag so many times. All I can say really is practice practice practice. It was never an issue of time with me but rather deaths. Don’t make stupid mistakes by being risky unless you’re confident in your abilities.

I will add my experience. The method mentioned in previous comments about staying online the whole time and deleting the local save did not work for me. Perhaps that method only works for keeping your total time down, instead of death count? I did die a few times.
Gonna try Tenreth's method of the offline trick since that seems to still work for people.
I hate speedrun achievements.

I've just unlocked this... I tried several times to complete it using the online/offline method and had no luck at all. I'm not sure whether it was because a death synced or I was over time... I ended up doing it legit because I knew the game inside out by the 5th or 6th playthrough!

Just did it legit online. One piece of advice: if you're falling to your death or about to get caught, you can use the reload checkpoint trick too! I was about to fall to my death in chapter two (I missed jumping on the piano) and the second I realized it, I loaded my checkpoint and continued for practice. Finished the game in around 54 minutes and still got the achievement. Just an FYI. Good luck everyone!

I’ve just unlocked achievement legit, however it unlocked after 30 minutes on screen when I was already half way trough in new run. I was like 🤬 cause I used crazy shortcuts and tricks and I knew it took me way less than one hour…
so after successful run take a short brake because it has synchronization issue I guess.

Cloud save workaround worked fine for me no issues. I originally tried the method while you stayed online and removed it that way, but it didn't work. Not sure if it was because I went a little over time or what. On my second run I did it using the usual offline method I've used in previous games. Finished my run in about 57 mins and it popped almost at the top of the stairs.

You can pause.Pause and/or dashboard will freeze the timer.I made a 5min pause during my successful run and i won the cheevo.

For the Cloud, well it's not easy to explain, but in short the cloud save (or online save) will be your backup save. For 95% of your run (if you want the easy way,the hard way was mine and not recommended) you'll play offline. In this case if you die, simply quit the game,go to "manage the game" on dashboard and erase the local save.Go online, launch the game and you'll download your cloud save. You'll be back at start of your chapter with 0 death on your counter :)

The best way to save in this game is to go online before the end of a chapter, finish the chapter, start the next one and quit to the main menu to make a backup save for each chapter (and go offline just after).I tried at mid-chapter but after dying i returned at the start of the chapter. So to be sure,i only saved at beginning of all chapters.

Voila,i hope i've explained well.Good luck guys and i'm here if you want more informations about that :)

So I'm playing offline, going online to finish each chapter, exiting to menu and resuming offline.

If I die, I am offline. So, I immediately quit to dash, close the app, delete local save and re-enter the app online. On attempt 1 it would sync, now it isn't. It just restarts the game asking me to adjust brightness settings etc. as if I had never played the game before.

With cloud saves I could 100% do this now; I can do 1, 4 & 5 without dying, Chapters 2 & 3 are by far the hardest.

For anyone who seems to be having a buggy or glitchy time. I completed this using the solution for cloud saves and it refused to unlock. I managed a legit run with a few instances of me resetting a checkpoint prior to dying and it didn't unlock.

I managed a run where by I never paused, never reset, never quit the game and it finally unlocked. I also hard reset my console and deleted all data prior to this run. This was the only way I could get it to unlock.

You might be doing somehting wrong man. First of all, since you might have messed things up, make sure to clear all your saves. Cloud and local. After that, start the game, just start and mess with stuff on the menu, don't even play. This will most likely create a local save for you. Quit the game and stay a while on the dash. After that, go offline, delete your local save only and go online and play the game. It should sync.

Now you can go: chapter 1 offline, go online, complete, quit to menu, go to dash, wait a bit for it to sync and so on.

I haven't done this on this game yet (just started it), but I have used cloud saving on multiple games and it always works, it's not something the game can control and avoid you using.

really pisses me off that a lot of these very enjoyable games have to do this shit ... limbo, unravel, max, ori, this ... these types of achievements literally almost turn me off playing the games tbh :/

Could be a lot worse. This game is short and mostly takes memorization and almost no luck or skill involved. Now think about Outlast 2 that's almost 3 times longer, is hard as fuck and according to people playing it has unfair AI and a lot of other unfair stuff...

Also: You can use the cloud here or even pause and load if you're fast. I completed every game you mentioned, all except Max (that if I'm not mistaken you can pause and reload before you die and it's also pretty easy) are way harder than this one.

This achievement is pure fucking trash. 0/5 game just for this.

EDIT: Just got the achievement. I used a couple of speedrun videos for some nice shortcuts, and abused the cloud save workaround. Hardest section by far was Chapter 3. Everything else was not too bad. Achievement popped right as Six was walking up the long staircase into the light at the end.

Also, I did not have to go offline at all. You can stay online the whole run. If you die, just pause the game as you die, hit the home button on your controller, highlight Little Nightmares, hit the Start button, go to Manage Game & Add-Ons, scroll down to Save Data, highlight the save with your GT on it, hit Start again, click Delete Saved Data, and click Delete From CONSOLE. Sounds like a lot but it's not.

On February/2021, I've done the cloud save method completely online, "saving" by hard quitting only in the beginning of the levels so I wouldn't loose the time of Six getting up and it didn't unlock. I think it was patched. Has anyone done it online after this date?

Eventually got it using the online-only method outlined above in the comments. If you're playing this on games pass it's the only option. I would advise following and copying some of the methods in the world record time as I saved myself quite a lot of time following it. Barring the odd glitch that had been patched or looked way too difficult to pull off.

It seems accepted that the starting cutscene counts toward your time, and you can’t skip it within the game. If you escape to the main menu just before it starts (when the save icon disappears) and then resume the game, the cutscene is gone. In theory this would seem to save you about 35 seconds right off the bat. But I have no idea how to prove what the game really counts toward your time, or if it adds on the time even though you skip the scene. Just putting that out there in case it’s helpful, or if anybody thinks of a way to verify it’s useful.

Edit: you can save yourself a little time by choosing “restart from checkpoint” instead of choosing “exit to main menu” followed by “resume game”. Either way, cutscene gone. Again, I haven’t verified on my own that the starting cutscene actually counts, but that seems to be the consensus.

I can also confirm you dont have to go offline. However, I don't know if anyone else experienced this,, but if I did not exit to menu, then menu and quit game after pressing start on the game in my menu, it would not save to the cloud. So when I'd get to a point where I'd progressed pretty good and wanted to save it, id have to quit to menu then close the game. If I didnt do that, then it would never save. It acted like i was starting a new game everytime if I just played straight through. Or say I got to chapter 1 and I quit and closed the game. Then I died in chapter 3, when Id clear my save from console only, it would revert me all the way back to chapter 1. It wasn't saving my checkpoints to the cloud basically just the console, and the only way I could get the checkpoints to save was to totally quit out. I can confirm this method works though as long as you quit out to save to the cloud, and delete your local save if you die.

This achievement is rewarded for completing the game in under 1 hour without dying. There are two distinct ways I will be explaining this achievement:

1 - The Legit Way
I would recommend completing the game at least 2 times in full before attempting this achievement. You must memorize every sequence and the order of the rooms in order to get your time down enough. Obviously, do everything you can to save time. Make sure you sprint when possible, and try to avoid unecessary sections when possible. There is room for errors but not a lot.
Notes:
- Loading times do not count
- Pausing and restarting a checkpoint does NOT count as a death. Use this to your advantage for tricky platforming sections to save yourself from a fall or if you think you are about the get caught. It will add time to your run but will save you from a death.
- I would recommend completing the game even if you die to make sure there are no other sections that will give you issues. If you die multiple times on the same section, practice using chapter select before attempting it again. I would also recommend doing the whole game in one sitting without pausing for a break. You will ruin your flow and are more likely to make a mistake otherwise.
- Just keep practicing and trying. This achievement isn't as hard as it may seem. After 3-5 playthroughs, you should be easily able to complete the game within an hour and just need to make sure that you don't die.

2 - The Offline "Cheese" Method

I personally did not use this method, but some gamers may find this solution more suitable for their skill level. It involves using cloud save data and playing offline. It will allow you to play the game one chapter at a time and "save" your progress if you're happy with your run. It will require you to have the license of the game, so keep that in mind if you gameshare.

This strategy goes as follows:
- Disconnect from internet
- Start "New Game"
- Complete a chapter while offline and stop right before it ends.
- Connect to the internet if you are happy with your performance and complete the chapter to "lock-in" that run.
- Quit Little Nightmares
- Repeat the process for every chapter individually making sure you connect and complete the chapter if you are happy with it.
- If you die, dashboard out of the game and connect to the internet. Load the game and "load cloud save".
- Repeat the steps until you beat the game.

This will allow you an infinite amount of attempts at each chapter, but will still require you to complete the game in under an hour and without dying.

follow the collectibles guide or something and watch the last minute or so of the video. find the last possible moment that the player is still on screen (hasn't faded to black) and make sure there's no enemies or anything to worry about.
when you get to the same area you're good to go.

^ Lmao, dude's so upset he couldn't do it legit, it's not that deep.

Anyways, thanks to your video it only took 4 attempts, 2 of those accidentally falling 5-10 minutes in lol, and came in at the end with 55 minutes, loading screens and all. Did a couple skips that you chose not to in the video, and others I saw online.

Not nearly as hard as people make it seem to be whatsoever.

I finish offline and start new game, I was completing chapter 1 while offline and stop at chapter 2, then i connect to the internet. What next is complete the chapter to lock in that run does that is resume game while offline or online? I did quit little nightmares. What does that mean is repeat the process for every chapter individually make sure i connect and complete the chapter 2-5 while online, right?

Where each chapter ends:

Chapter 1: The Prison
After the second eye/light section there's a wooden bridge that pulls apart.

Chapter 2: The Lair
Right after you break the cage causing the door to drop on the Janitor's arms.

Chapter 3: The Kitchen
You'll ride a meat hook conveyor, drop off into a sink of dirty dishes, sprint away from the pursuing chefs, and grab on to the meat hook line again.

Chapter 4: The Guest Area
After the encounter with the final Nome; before you get on the elevator.

Chapter 5: The Lady's Quarters
A long leisurely stroll down the final hallway and up a large flight of stairs.

"I personally did not use this method, but some gamers may find this solution more suitable for their skill level"

Elitist much? Most deaths in this game do not come from "skill level" but from touchy mechanics. Ive walked off more ledges i didnt realize i was close the edge than i can count. Having done the less than 5 death run on Limbo twice now, I had pretty good grip on how to tackle this achievement. After multiple attempts, you get tired, you make small mistakes, and this game punishes you. Cheesing it offline doesnt take away from the skill required to perfect each level. it just gives you the piece of mind of having each one taken care of for good and not needing to sink more time in this game starting from the beginning when there are plenty more games out there begging for your attention. Pointing out that YOU didnt need this method but other people may want to if they arent as good as you is a pitiful attempt to flash some self appointed importance for obtaining a digital "achievement" in a way YOU see as better. That attitude and the mono tone deliverance is exactly why I ignore your walkthroughs on youtube.

After giving it a handful of attempts, i chose to play each level offline and made it through without dying on my first attempt (unfortunately i think i may have been just over the time tho). So the piece of mind alone reduces the stress of needing to be perfect and allows you to relax and just play the game.

EDIT - that offline run was my last attempt and when it didnt pop i deleted the game. as i was walking downstairs i heard the sound of a rare achievement popping. So, it does work. all my online/offline bouncing may have lagged the syncing of the achievement or something

Hey guys, this isn't so much a solution as an addition to any of the great solutions already posted. Rather than bury this information in the comments of one of said solutions, I figured I would post it as a solution in hopes more people might see it. If you feel this warrants a downvote, I completely understand.

If anyone is having trouble keeping under the time limit, I would HIGHLY recommend checking out a speedrun of the game. The world record is about 40min at this point and some of the exploits they utilize are very simple to do and save a TON of time. Obviously there are some I wouldn't recommend trying as they are very high risk with little reward. However, adding even a few of these methods to your run would not only help you shave some time off, but I find it lets me be a little more careful while crossing those damn pipes/rafters to ensure I don't blow my run.

Here is a Reddit post that includes a few good skips you can use:
https://www.reddit.com/r/speedrun/comments/68h589/little_nig...

And here is a speedrun I watched that help me visualize some of those skips:

I take no credit for any of this information, I simply found it very helpful and hope it helps some other people get this b*tch of an achievement.

Happy Gaming People!

Thanks for the reddit link. Those tricks helped me beat it in 52 minutes with little risk. I decided to not do some of the risky skips because they seemed very inconsistent (mainly the ones where you slide under the chefs)

This is in addition to Sodernaut's online cheese method.

Having read their guide on the cloud save not immediately updating, I trialed the following and found it to work:

- Select New Game and play as usual.
- Whenever you see the save symbol appear in the bottom right corner in a clean run, exit to main menu, go to home and quit the game. By quitting the game, the cloud save will update immediately with a clean run to that save point.
-Reload and contine playing. If you make a mistake/die/take too long, go straight to home, manage game and delete local save. DO NOT QUIT THE GAME (as it'll override your clean run). This will then reload your previous clean save when it downloads from the cloud.

Bear in mind, this adds quite a bit of time because of loading screens, but if, like me, you have distractions (children...) so can't continuously practice for one clean run in one go, I found this method worked well to chip away over time.

For anyone trying to complete this achievement using the Offline mode/cloud save.

I found all other tips to be vague when trying to attempt this on my own so I figured I would list what worked for me. I decided, after many failed attempts at getting the offline/cloud method to work, to treat it like it was a steam game. On steam the save files sync immediately after you completely exit the game.

1) Start fresh: delete all local and online cloud saves
2) Launch the game while connected to the internet and start a new game
3) Personally I completed the first level while connected to the internet before deciding to use the offline method. So complete the first level and wait until the beginning of the second level loads up.
4) Once the second level loads up immediately pause and exit to main menu
5) Close the game using the "Quit" function (this completely kills the application
6) Now since you were playing the game online throughout the first level the local save file will start you at the beginning of level 2.
7) Before doing anything else go to your settings and disconnect from the internet.
8) Re-launch Little Nightmares (in offline mode) and select to resume game
9) *****If you happen to die while attempting level 2 immediately "Quit" out of your game session (no need to go to the main menu) and go to your local save files and delete the save game information. It is important to note that sometimes you may have to delete it twice before it is completely cleared. Before re-launching Little Nightmares connect your console to the internet. When you relaunch the game it will sync the save that was uploaded to the cloud and you can continue from there with zero deaths.
10) Use this method after every level to create a backup save.

Relevant notes:
-Pausing will not add to in game time
-Restarting a checkpoint before the death registers will not count as a death
-If you want to be connected to the internet when the game pops your achievement I would suggest waiting until you've completely killed the geisha. Once the geisha is dead just pause the game, connect to the internet and finish the ending. (This is the method I used and it worked)
-The achievement will not pop until you start ascending the stairs after killing the geisha and walking through the Gluttons with your newly acquired power.

Final Note: The tips above are my notes on what worked for me after reading many different strategies and trying multiple different methods.

Hi guys!

Just want to point out that the previously mentioned method with cloud saving is overly complicated.

I just went out and deleted the local save when I died in an otherwise clean run and reloaded the game (so the game redownloads the cloudsave). All online.

At least my game didn't upload the death to the save right away even if the game registrerad the death (no 'reload checkpoint' available)

Hello Guys!

This guide for those who cannot get the achivement otherwise!
I tried to use all 7 guides here. None of them worked for me for some reason...
One of the comment suggested the following guide:

First you can play online, this offline method never worked for me...
Start New Game.
Whenever a game autosaves in the bottom right corner,
Exit to Main Menu.
Quit to Home (Dashboard) and exit the game. Wait a few seconds.
Now the cloud saves the checkpoint. You'll begin from here next time launch the game.
Launch the game --> Resume
Now if you die, quickly press pause and Exit to Dashboard/Home
Do not Exit the game!
Go to manage the game and
Erase the local save File
Start the game automatically download the latest cloud saves for you!

One things I want to mention: You don't have to exit everytime the game saves, if you sure you can do a part without dying.

Hello guys, this isn´t a guide, is an addition if you want to do it by the legit way.
I´ve found 5 videos (not mine) that explain all the trick that you can do in every chapter, also the videos put information about the time that you save and the difficulty.
Try to play safe you shouldn’t do hard skips that doesn’t save enough time.
The last video isn’t essential.

All the credits to Nikko.

Sorry if i made a mistake with my words, good hunt gamers!!

For this trophy, you have to choose New Game in the main menu or your deaths from previous runs will still count and you won't get the trophy. When choosing New Game, you will lose all your progress as there is only one save slot so it's best to get all the other trophies first, plus this way you will know what to do and where to go.

You don't have to do this trophy in one run, it means you can quit the game and back up/reload your save to the Cloud or a USB device. There are plenty of checkpoints in the game so you can do that pretty much everywhere if you're worried about dying.

How to backup your save:

To backup your save, whilst on the XMB:

  • Settings
  • Application Saved Data Management
  • Saved Data in System Storage
  • Upload to Online Storage/Copy to USB Device
  • choose the Little Nightmares save
  • tick it and Upload/Copy it

Now if you die and want to reload your last save, whilst on the XMB go:

  • Settings
  • Application Saved Data Management
  • Saved Data in Online Storage or Saved Data on USB Device
  • Download to System Storage or Copy to System Storage
  • Choose the Little Nightmare save
  • Tick it and Download/Copy it
  • The game will ask you if you want to overwrite your save, say "Yes"

There is a simpler and faster method of uploading/downloading your saves to/from the Cloud if you have the 4.50 or higher firmware update installed:

  • Highlight the game, then press .
  • Scroll up to the Upload/Download Saved Data tab, then press .
  • Now chose either the "Upload All" or "Download All" options, then press to confirm your choice.

You can copy/paste all 3 different Little Nightmare saves, it's fine for this trophy.

You can also reload the last checkpoint if you're about to die or if you lost too much time, the timer will reset to the last checkpoint but reloading the checkpoint if you die will not reset your death. If you see the saving icon it means your death is registered and you will need to reload your save from the Cloud/USB or retry.

Pausing the game will stop the timer, unfortunately there is no way to know your current time but don't worry too much as I got this trophy while doing some mistakes and reloading a lot of checkpoints.

Here are some tips to help you throughout the game:

  • Chapter 1

This chapter is really not difficult, the only way to die is to fall off a platform or being grabbed by the Leeches but they barely move and you can easily avoid them by jumping. Sprint as much as you can with and when your character is hungry, jump with to save some time.

  • Chapter 2

The first time you'll see the Janitor you don't have to stop and hide, you can just run and use the little hole on the right, move to the far right on the next room and he won't see you. Wait for him to leave and open the hatch with the crank. You don't have to fully open it.

In the area with many shoes, don't stop when jumping on the suitcases and jump with so the monster doesn't catch you.

In the library, you don't have to climb the pile of books, you can crouch and sprint to reach the next area.

When fighting against the Janitor's arms, you will have to climb the cages on the back and jump when he's moving his arms from the door. Now jump and grab the cage under the door, do this two times to kill him.

  • Chapter 3

In the first area with the Chef, crouch and sprint at the same time to stay undetected. Once in the second area, you can sprint and climb the shelf at the back on the right. In the room where you have to get the key, don't lose your time to wake up the second Chef. Climb the shelf, grab the key and it will automatically fall and wake him up. Hide under the bed and follow him when he's leaving. Hide inside the little box when you're in the elevator. When in the kitchen with the 2 Chefs, get out of the ground using the second hole and sprint until the next room on the right. Pull the crank and hide under the table on the left.

  • Chapter 4

When you're on the table with all the Guests, sprint and jump to avoid their arms. When the crawling Guest is facing you, go to your right and climb the shelf. Wait for him to be stuck and jump on him to pass him.

  • Chapter 5

Don't sprint too much in this level but wait until the Lady is chasing you. You don't want to lose your energy before as she might grab you otherwise. During the last fight, turn in rounds in the circles of light, this way you don't have to worry about her surprising you from behind.

Here is a good video if you are having trouble but remember that pausing the game stops the timer so don't hesitate to that if you want to watch the video:

The hardest achievement in the game. You must start and finish the game within 1 hour time limit, all WITHOUT DYING. Highly recommended you play the game once or twice to get acclimated to everything, because following a guide for this run will probably add too much time to the game clock unless you're really good and pausing and figuring out on the fly. Using pause or dashboard DOES stop the clock, so use that if you need to. Also, in your first run you can get collectibles, leaving you to fly through the game in a second playthrough without worrying about them.
