You can trigger any bear traps but this achievement won’t trigger if you die at any point before reaching the cabin if you restart form last checkpoint this won’t work either you have to either start the game again or start the chapter again from chapter select

I didn't die on the bear traps, but did before that section; no achievement, so I don't think it's the bear trap section alone, feels more like the entire pre-cabin section is the condition of no deaths.

Just wanted to clarify that I unlocked this achievement even though I had a falling death. So it's only death by traps that count.

Chapter 1
Do NOT trigger a Bear Trap.
There are 2 Bear Traps that are unavoidable in triggering the initial on before the hollowed Log and later the End Trap triggered as a cinematic event.
The Achievement will pop after you finished the area and entered the Porch of the Hunter's Cabin.

This achievement requires you to reach the cabin near the beginning of the first chapter without dying to any bear traps. Bear traps will show up around five minutes into the first chapter, and they start off being obvious on the ground. Walk around them to avoid them, then grab the stick from the penultimate bear trap to use (press
to swing it) on the final bear trap to activate it and make it safe to enter the log. At the bottom of the log, grab the stick there and walk toward the leaves on the right. Go one or two steps into the leaves and swing the stick to activate the hidden bear traps under the leaves. Jump across safely. You'll then come across a platform surrounded by leaves with some pinecones on the platform. Grab one and throw it off to the right to activate the bear traps hidden under those leaves too. Once again safely jump across, and that's the end of the traps. Head up to the cabin to the right and this achievement will unlock as you go up the steps, assuming you didn't die to any traps.

Don’t just go through the section with traps, but run from the beginning of the chapter to the hut, avoiding the traps , i.e. no deaths. The first time I was crushed by a log once, the trophy did not fall out, I had to replay.

If you get caught, you can quickly exit to the XMB menu and close the game. Then open it again and boot.
