How to unlock the Free Rider achievement in Lonely Mountains: Downhill - Definitive Guide
This will be frustrating as hell, you will crash a lot and swear even more. I didn't counted the tries it took me nor the time cause it would have been even more frustrating.
Some tips for this would be:
1. Learn the trails!
Pretty obvious, but knowing some shortcuts is vital if you don't want this to last forever. There are plenty of videos around with the best route.
2. Slow and steady wins the race!
Especially when going downhill it's better to grind the brake like crazy or else you will crash or fall off a cliff or hug a tree. Also important when navigating on narrow paths and in areas where the camera angle sucks, which happens quite often.
3. Choose the right bike!
I did most of the freerides with the Geronimo, but on some trails, I just couldn't get even near the finish line. The Grasshopper then did the trick, allthough you might keep in mind you will crash more easy.
4. Know when to sprint!
If you unlocked the freeride mode you already played the trail before, that's why you know, that in some areas, going slow won't help you. If there's a jump, you often need some speed to make it. And even if you had the right speed, getting the landing right isn't always that easy.
5. Don't give up!
On some days I got really mad at the game, resulting in a rage-quit. Keep in mind, this achievement or rather this game is mostly skill based, so don't blame the game for your mistakes like I did.
If a trail is too frustrating, back out, do some other trail or work on some other challenges, and come back when you cooled down a bit.
Feel free to add some tips I may include or something I should mention.
Good luck with this and feel as happy as I once it finally pops!

I found it easier to not use shortcuts and just follow the main path the entire time. It becomes much easier because the main route is designed to be the safest, generally.

The huge jumps on Redmoor Peaks are my downfall on this. Especially with no check points
