How to unlock the In time for lunch achievement in Loop Hero - Definitive Guide
You need to do this on a new save file, without ever returning to camp. It is important to note that the boss will get stronger the more loops you complete. So you want to spawn the boss in (by placing enough tiles) early enough that it isn't too strong, but late enough that you can unlock gear and gain stats.
Stats you should focus on for this fight are:
- Max HP
- Regeneration
- Evasion
Additionally, the boss spawns in on your camp tile and will spawn Temple tiles in any empty space adjacent to your camp. These Temple Tiles increase the boss' stats. Throughout your expedition, you should try to fill all of these empty tiles to stop temples from spawning. You can also use oblivion cards to destroy the temple tiles.

This is very luck-based and took a lot of tries. I was able to do it at the end of loop 5 based on a combination of the tips on this solution and by watching Jorbs beat the game in four expeditions (expedition one starts around 8 mins in here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBlO_IzZn28&t=480s).
Two strategies made a difference for me:
1. You'll want 7-8 slimes spawned on the map at the beginning of the first loop. If some of the slimes are right next to your start, even better. Even fighting a couple of more slimes in the first loop can give you extra cards that make a huge difference in the long run.
2. Put all of your cemeteries on the first tiles of your loop. Skeletons hit hard but drop loot that's one level higher than your current loop. The idea is that you heal 20% of your HP at the campfire when you start a new loop, which makes you strong enough to kill a line of skeletons in the first few tiles, and they in-turn drop stronger equipment that will help you power through the rest of the enemies on the map. Rinse and repeat. Good luck!

High evasion (36%) did it for me. Kept my regen high for loops before to make sure my HP (1282) was full when starting the fight but threw everything into evasion before it started. Made sure they couldn't make any Temple Tiles either.
I tried not upgrading my weapon for the first two loops but it always put me in a worse position. Why did you suggest that (in the video)? Is there something I'm missing?

The following youtube video explained a strategy for this achievement very good. It took me 6 tries because of a lot of bad RNG but I managed to get the achievement.
✶ This achievement is granted for defeating the first boss (Lich) in your very first expedition without ever dying or retreating.
✶ So, you need to do this on a new save file. you can skip tutorial to save time if you need to try more times because of bad RNG stats.
✶ Boss comes with Lich's Palace in 3x3 tiles around your camp, which increases boss's max HP, so you want to place cards/building on these tiles so that these palaces won't spawn. you can also use 'Oblivion' card to delete any remaining palaces.
✶ To do this you need to fight the boss between loop 6 to 8. Boss will get more stronger as you complete more loops but you also need gears and stats.
✶ Main Stats to focus for this is:
1. Max Hp
2. Regeneration/Vampirism
3. Evasion/Attack Speed
✶Regeneration you want around 7 to 9. But as this game is more RNG , so if can't get enough regen items go for vampirism. But with Vampirism you also need attack speed.
✶ I had 2.4 regen, 33% Vampirism, Attack Speed 32% and defense 19 (was not going for it), no evasion.

Skip the tutorial and start the battle. Build the map so that there are more enemies, try to take things in vampirism, evasion and regeneration. Remove goblin camps with the oblivion card. Build mountains and meadows next to them, and you can place meadows next to roadside tiles to create flowering meadows. You will need to place road lights near cells with a large concentration of enemies (they reduce the maximum number of enemies on nearby cells, the effect is cumulative). They are needed to maintain health. When the bar gets close to summoning the boss, accumulate good items with evasion and ideally you should summon the boss before the end of the circle and so that you have a lot of health. The first boss hits slowly but hard. And if you have a decent evasion bonus, you should be able to handle it. Good luck!
