How to unlock the Seal the gate achievement in Lords of the Fallen (2014) - Definitive Guide
Hi guys,
So this is a spider-like monster you need to defeat.
It is not an easy fight however there are no supporters to worry about so you can fully focus on the boss.
He has his leap/jump attack if you are too far away from him. I`d recommend to always be close enough so that he won`t jump at you. His main attack is a combination of 2 swings and 1 smash hit. The 3rd one does the most damage so avoid it at all cost. If your weight load is below 50% you can easily dodge roll them all then hit him before recover from his move. Make sure that you have enough energy left to roll away once he starts to hit again.
The KEY point is that you should focus on one of his leg instead of his main body, if you do enough damage to it (2-300 hp) the shield will break off which means that every time you hit that leg he takes extra damage.(about 20% extra)
Since if you start doing a chain of attacks your character tends to move forward, it means you can`t "combo hit" his leg, therefore I`d recommend a heavier weapon that you would swing once and hit his leg then dodge/roll away rather than trying to do 3-4 hits with a lighter weapon and then finding yourself under his body.
This boss has 2 stages. Once you took his 1st segment of health he will have another attack where if you face him directly he can stab you with his tail. Just dodge roll and hit his leg again. He will also be able to heal himself. During this time he does not move however there are some spikey defenses around him on the ground(which you can destroy but you would lose valuable seconds). If you are trying to hit his body while he is healing he will damages you. Rather going for his body, focus on the already injured leg. You can hit his leg without every bothering with the traps and you can easily do enough damage that the BOSS will come out with less health than what he went in with.
Make sure that you do not get greedy while hitting the boss. The less here is more. Instead of using all your energy and then getting hit make sure you roll away and prepare your next attack/wait for your energy to regenerate.
I killed him as a Rogue using a scythe(It`s a "greataxe" by definition in game) using it in both hands. I did 107 dmg on his leg with the shield on and 126 dmg without the shield. I hit him using RB only and 1 hit used about 2/3 of my energy so I had enough to roll away from his next attack. I did not use a shield or block as my character is purely focusing on avoiding any dmg at all cost. If you are playing as a Rogue make sure that you use your STAB ability when the boss starts his healing. My STAB skills was lvl 3 and it did around 240 dmg.

Just did this and didn't even realize I could hit his legs! Ah well, next time. I had regular axe equipped so I could just go in swinging when he started healing, killing the traps while damaging the boss at the same time. Was getting 6-7 swings in before he stood up. Was getting 88 dmg with regular attacks.

excellent walkthrough!
luckily though the game bugged out for me and when he hit 45% health he just stood still and let me attack without fighting back.

The following video is not a solution but of a possible glitch that will make this encounter easier. If this proves to be unique to my playthrough, I will remove the video.
If not, then I hope this helps anyone who may be struggling with this encounter.
Thank you so much for watching!

Definitely a glitch! Never happened to me in 5 runthroughs ;) But it'd be great to be able to reproduce it if desired. I'll look forward to it; btw, don't forget to put your fav weapons in your shortcut buttons, can be useful :) Good fight still.
