Here is a video guide of the first boss in Lords of the Fallen. Once you work out his patterns, it is an easy fight. Just keep your distance, wait for his heavy attack (overhead slam) and then use some hit and run tactics. Two light attacks work best as it leaves you with enough energy for two evasive rolls to avoid the counter slashes.

Pretty much to say here, I think most of the players fought him that way, patience mode. I was more into jumped attacks here and still could evade because no armor on (dark souls habit ^^) I found it funny to notice you killed that boss before me ;) Great video.

This boss is tough this early in the game. If you dont have any spells unlocked as I didnt.
My tips are to lock your camera on to the warden and stay close. You can simply keep circling him to the left to avoid most of his attacks. After ever section of health he will loose a piece of armor and knock you back if your to close. on the last chunk he will go into a four hit attack. stay moving and circling. after that just continue with your circling and attack when he misses.
