How to unlock the A Gruelling Journey achievement in Lords of the Fallen - Definitive Guide
I strongly recommend using a crossbow build since it’s very OP
Equipment I used for a crossbow build:
Edict’s aim+10 (or alternatively Harrower Dervla’s Crossbow) Twisted, Wither and Explosive bolts (explosive bolts are good for major damage and also crowd control since it has an area of effect same goes for twisted bolts but it’s not as effective. Each bolts can be swapped out depending on boss weakness.
Double Black Feather Ring
Dual Jefferey’s dagger +10 with Aelstrix runes on every slot.
Umbral eye of Lydia the Numb Witch for essentially infinite ammunition. When you run out of ammunition, every time you fire your crossbow you’ll sustain withered damage but you’ll immediately gain back health if you damage an enemy. If you have low enough health, you won’t be able to fire your crossbow (unless of course you have ammunition). Always have ammunition pouches in the toolbelt in case you don’t have enough health to fire your crossbow.
Warrior’s claw pendant and armor with the highest defensive stats without having a heavy load.
You can apply every modifier for one run and you’ll get every Master of Fate achievements, unless you want to do multiple runs. I’d highly recommend doing this in NG+0 since the enemies and bosses will not get stronger.
Buy as many vestige seeds from Molhu since the tremendous vestige decay modifier will only have the Skyrest bridge and Shrine of Adyr vestige available. I always put a vestige seed whenever needed and before a major boss fight and keep the desiccated moth vestige in the tool belt.
Note: I always try to defeat bosses in the non-umbral state, if I do go into the umbral state I immediately use the desiccated moth to avoid risking dying. I only struggled against the sundered monarch fight and had to use this method. Alternatively if you’re in a boss fight and go into the umbral state, you can close out the game entirely and load back, you’ll be outside the boss entrance in the umbral state.
I recommend doing the radiance ending because it would be a pain to run back to all of the beacons. You could do umbral ending but it also requires running back and forth. I did radiance ending because it was a mostly straightforward run. This was the order I completed my run:
Pilgrim’s Perch/ Congregator of Flesh/ Forsaken Fen/ Hushed Saint fight then cleansed beacon/ Fitzroy Gorge/ Lower Calrath/ Spurned Progeny/ Sunless Skein/ Cistern/ Upper Calrath then cleansed beacon.
Fief of Chill Curse/ Hollow Crow fight then cleanse beacon
Manse of the Hallowed Brothers/ Tower of Penance/ Tancred fight then cleanse beacon/ Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters/ get the Rune of Adyr from Rapturous Huntress Lirenne fight/ Empyrean/ Judge Cleric fight then cleanse beacon.
Come back to Skyrest, track back to Pieta arena to go to Upper Calrath/ Lightreaper fight (unless defeated earlier)/ Iron Wayfarer fight/ Bramis Castle/ Sundered Monarch fight/ Adyr the Bereft Exile fight.
It took me a couple of tries to complete the all modifier run due to me dying more so in dumb ways than in actual fights, but in any case I hope this guide helps you.
