The Sanguinarix maxes out at level 10 and can be upgraded by speaking to Pieta at Skyrest Bridge. To upgrade it to its max level you will need to find 20 Saintly Quintessence. This upgrade material is found in Umbral bellies throughout the game. You will know they contain a Saintly Quintessence when they have a halo above them.
In my first playthrough I found all but 4 and wasn't sure which ones I could have been missing. The good news is when you start a new game + all Saintly Quintessence respawn meaning that you don't have to search for each of them in their unique locations. By time I was a little bit into the forsaken fen I had found the 4 that I needed.

This is all but 1 location. I checked everyones list online but nobody has the one I'm missing. As soon as last location is located, the location will be added to a pinned comment so check there to see if last one has been found.

For the last one (i had the whole place unlocked so you may have to do extra steps)
From Vestige of Catrin, head out into the mines and go left across the bridge into the tunnel killing the skele knight, and the dog and then the archer thing and firedog in the next room, hang a right up the short stairs and go into the the tunnel using your lamp to briefly enter the umbral to get past the bars. Go into the next room and defeat the skele knight and the other dude on the ground level first, go back to the bottom of the stairs and face the way the stairs descend, you should see some bars in front of you below with an item there, enter umbral and roll onto the platform for the last one
