Lost Judgment

You can unlock this as early as chapter 2. The races are part of the Skaters School Story, which you need level 3 teamwork to access.

Play through the skaters story. Skate races unlock once you’ve beaten the third challenger, Mitsui. After that you’ll find a new option to ‘race’ when you speak to Chiyoda in Hamakita Park.

There are 12 races, and you need to get first place in each to unlock the next. Races are a great source of skate points, which you’ll need 160,000 of if you’re also going for the Skate or Die achievement.

The races aren’t too bad. Don’t hammer to build speed, you need to get into a rhythm. And timing your jumps is critical. Hit as many ramps, grinds and obstacle jumps as you can to boost speed.

Get a good board

• The best non-DLC skateboard is Black Drop, available for 36,500 chips at Heaven’s Door casino
• If you can’t access the casino yet, get Skull Bass from Deco Rush (Ijincho) for ¥50,000.
• Purple Drop is as good as Black Drop. It’s available at the skate park for 100,000 skate points. Do as many skate challenges and races as you can and you’ll soon be able to afford it.
• I used Hover Drive from the DLC. It’s very good, especially for acceleration
