You have to score 3 stars per battle set. The first star is obtained simply by attempting the fight, the second is simply for winning, and the third is for getting the secret requirement. The secret requirements are listed Below. If you are having trouble finding the magical lock keys to access the different weights, go to the following link:

Just hit CTRL+F and search for "Magical Lock Key" and hit enter till its the one for the weight class your trying to unlock.
Here are the requirements for achieving 3 stars per set:
Battle 1. You have to defeat their boss. Keep one Raptor alive and continue to allow it to call for help until the boss Raptor appears. Kill it.
Battle 2. Front row party members should stay alive.
Battle 3. Defeat 15 dolls first.
Battle 4. Defeat the Kelolon Brigade Leader first.
Battle 5. Do not use any Skills. Melee or magic is allowed.

FYI I still got three stars for battle 2 even though Kaim in my front row died

those are the conditions listed in game. It wouldnt be possible to get 3 stars for battle 2 if kaim died.
