How to unlock the Extreme Conditions achievement in Lost Planet 3 - Definitive Guide
1 Successfully complete the game on normal or easy.
2 In the options change the difficulty level on hard.
3 Load latest auto-save and finish the game.
4 Start a new game on the hard difficulty level.
5 After the first save exit the game to the menu.
6 Load previous auto-save (the last save of the campaign) and finish the game.
7 Achievement "Extreme Conditions" unlocked.
Just to save alot headache, when you start the new game on hard, the first save point happens right after the cut scene as soon the ship crashes onto the planet. As soon you land, just exit out the new game, load the previous save, finish the game for the 3rd time and the achievement will unlock during the end credits.
This way can work at "Before the storm" mode, too.
Thank you!!! Wow wow!!!!
When loading a save from the main menu at one point I nearly started a new game by simply spamming "A" to begin. It picked a difficulty, but then I caught it and chose "No" when it asked me to confirm deleting my current save. After cancelling the launch for new game, I loaded the autosave normally but the prior steps actually changed the difficulty setting on my save (enemies were dropping with a single hit, etc). Unfortunately I ate an autosave before I got into combat and could observe that. Repeating the same steps "reset" the difficulty to hard, however having beaten the campaign and not popping this achievement too, I can only assume the achievement was voided.
Repeated these steps just now with the same result... so it's a second playthrough for me and a word of warning to all. I don't know if dashboarding and then loading your save again will fix this, but just be careful when loading.
The first portion of the game on Hard is a little challenging due to your really weak offensive output, but once you start to get upgrades the difficulty drops off significantly. Specialty ammo pretty much breaks it.
Start your first playthrough on Hard difficulty. Not only is it available right away, but the game is pretty easy and doesn’t show too much concern or issues. Sometimes Akrid will gang up and kill you, but you’ll get a feel for the game and be flying through it in no time. Plus the checkpoints/saves are pretty frequent so the game is forgiving, which helps on bosses.
This trophy will pop alongside the Campaign Complete trophy if your first completed playthrough is on the Hard difficulty setting. Hard setting is the most difficult of the 3 settings offered to you in-game, but I would recommend that you first complete the game on this difficulty setting to avoid further playthroughs.
In Hard mode, the player's weapons will do less damage to the Akrid, the player takes damage in larger doses than on an easier difficulty settings and also the players health regenerates significantly slower. On Hard, the Sepia (the small, frequent Akrid-resembling daffodils) can kill you in only 3 or 4 lunge attacks, making even them a worthy adversary seeming as they swarm in large numbers!
Here are some general tips that you should bear in mind to aid your playthrough on Hard:
- Always use cover by pressing the button next to an object. Many Akrid will take every opportunity to try and kill you from range and so you must prepare for this. This tip becomes especially invaluable when the Female Wardeye Akrid species enters the game as these are capable of launching many dart-like projections out of their head towards you which will quite frankly plunge you into low health very quickly on Hard.
- Roll around a lot using the button when not standing near cover. I found this helped me to dodge many of the fireballs that are spat at you from the Bolsepia throughout the game.
- As soon as you have sufficient T-ENG, purchase the Assault Rifle from the shop in the NEVEC base. Having just the pistol or shotgun will not suffice in this setting, even the shotgun becomes a 2-shot kill to even the most weak Akrid at fairly close range (1-shot kill at point blank to Sepia only). Pick up the Prototype Pulse Rifle gun from off of the floor whilst exploring the “Unknown structure” for the first time. This gun is excellent in taking down many of the more tough Akrid such as the Goonroe or the Sawaanka.
- Sounds rather cliché but it is true....take your time. This game can be rather tricky at a few points, but for the most part it is still very easy and if you start to get agitated, give it a small break and try again later.
- Use grenades, they are the weapon that can mean the difference between life and death. They are the most powerful weapon on Hard setting, throwing one into an Akrid spawner or at a boss can help you recover yourself to pick up an ammo crate or regenerate a little health. Always use the ammo packs.
1) Beginning (The pistol is the weakest weapon and you have to go through Chapter 1 with it, by the way, they don’t even explain the controls to you: rolls and how to run, etc.)
2) Bosses (I won’t spoil it), tactics for dealing with them can be found here https://guides.gamepressure.com/lostplanet3/ well, this is someone who completely cannot defeat the monster.
3) Low health
4) Taarka and Vordai can cause quite a problem on you (Taarka is a small creature that has decent damage and is difficult to hit. Vordai are creatures that deal a lot of damage and there are quite a lot of them in some locations, which complicates the task.
5) Final Battle (I won’t spoil it, follow the link up if you can’t complete the battle)
PS the site is in English, but there are screenshots)
PSS After passing, I recommend changing the level, so as not to completely fray your nerves to get collective things (audio files, albinos Tarkaa, text records and bestiary)
But it turned out that you don’t have to play the entire game on hard to get the trophy - there’s a glitch that I spotted from my colleagues at xboxachievements:
1. Complete the game at any difficulty level.
2. Change the difficulty to Difficult in the settings.
3. Restart the last save and go through the QTE with the boss.
4. Start a new game and get to the first save (after the doctor sends you to look for the repeater).
5. Exit and launch the previous save (the game always makes 2 saves, so you will have the save before the end of the game, which is what you launched before), there will be a QTE with the boss again, after completion the trophy will drop out.
Business for 5 min.
I recommend it in case you played with saves and the trophy for difficulty did not drop, or if you have already completed the game on an xbox or computer on a hard drive and want to save money. And it’s interesting to play on a difficult difficulty level, I recommend playing on it.
