How to unlock the Faster than the devs! achievement in Lumote: The Mastermote Chronicles - Definitive Guide
The achievement description is a little vague. All you need to do is start a new game and finish the first world (60 rooms) in under the given time. Note that it does not appear to count if you're playing as the Master Mote, so you'll need to do that achievement separately.
A few things make this pretty approachable:
- You can go to Options -> UI -> Show Puzzle Stats to put a visible timer on screen, as well as your splits for each of the 7 subworlds.
- In the pause menu there's a very convenient "Restart at Checkpoint" option, which actually resets the time to when you entered the room (even if you later died). In theory you could get the speedrun achievement on your first run, just by figuring out the solution to each room and then restarting to execute it quickly.
- You can actually skip T4, the subworld with the power jellyfish. In the middle of the game, there's a hub with a choice of three subworlds: power jellies (T4), diverters (T5), and guards (T6). If you do T5 and T6 first, you can: a) move the guard into position, b) get onto the (wrong-colour) jellyfish, c) jump off it over the guard so that it lands on the power slot and you land on the (wrong-colour) worms, d) jump back onto the guard, e) jump onto the worms just as they start growing, f) immediately jump onto a nook in the cliff, g) jump onto the higher (correct-colour) worms. Fortunately, the game doesn't have protection against sequence breaking like this. :)
The skip looks like this:
Here are my splits (much faster than you actually need - I thought I would have to do World 2 too):
T1: 00:03:40
T2: 00:09:16
T3: 00:16:28
T5: 00:24:12
T6: 00:34:11
T7: 00:44:16
T7: 00:44:43

Interestingly, I just popped the Master Mote achievement without the Diverter tower achievement, so it looks like you can also skip Diverter if you have the other two. I will try to figure out how that happened and add it here as an option.

Neat! I tried doing the final worms with no blue laser but I just couldn't get high enough. Maybe if you could somehow get the jelly up there...?
