How to unlock the Pharaoh of the Two Lands achievement in Luxor 2 - Definitive Guide

"x8Xero1sFinestx" has covered the most important things. i'd like to add the following method:

- you need a total of 280 million points
- use a wired (!) TURBOCONTROLLER
- gamemode: pharao's challenge
- stage: balance of maat (available after you have beaten stage 23 in adventure mode!)
- rubberband the "A" button and enjoy!

the points are accumulative. it's no problem if you miss some spheres and mess up. the TURBO function starts a new game and the whole procedure repeats over and over again on its own. this way i got 4 million points in 40 minutes until my TURBO missed some spheres.
HINT: leave your xbox overnight! you can check your progress on the main menu. use "x8Xero1sFinestx" list to keep track of it.

280 million are nearly 50 hours of boosting points this way so be prepared for a very long ride!

EDIT: i worked out the method on "balance of maat" on my own! here some visual help:

I hate the achievements in this game: It's a bad sign when you are excited that something can be done in less than 50 hours!

I may have to invest in a turcocontroller and try your method out. Thank you for saving my sanity!

Just to make things clearer, this has to be played on Pharaoh's Challenge. Just look for the level Balance of Maat. It's a special dagger stage, so with a turbo controller, the game will play itself. Eventually you will lose, but the game will start over, keeping track of all the points you've made. The points are cumulative, so it doesn't matter if you lose or change game modes and difficulties, it all counts towards the Achievement.

And if you actually play the levels, you can get well over 100,000 points per game if you try to catch all the jewels and do combos, especially after level 10.

What happens if my game freezes or shuts off in the middle of the level? Will I still get all those points if I restart my xbox or will everything I got before it froze be saved??

By Crossofdevil on 26 Feb 2013 17:44
the game only saves your points if u miss some spheres. that means the game is over and the points u won are added to your account. at the same time the turbofunction starts a new game.
to sum it up it you shouldnt loose too much points if the box freezes. but if the game freezes early at an overnight session the time was for nothing of course.
the only advise i can give is to download luxor 2 from the marketplace to your HDD. running it from the disc version may cause trouble... if u need some further advise dont hesitate to ask... :D

Balance of the maat is played for the first time in chapter 11-8, beat that level and you unlock it for the pharaohs challenge mode.
I am doing some reseach on the Weaving "Egyptian Linen" stage, which is unlocked after you beat stage 3-3 (which is way earlier). It is probably slower than the balance stage, but nets you around 2m each time aswell. Maybe someone can time the XP/hour on that stage.

Playing on the Series X AND S the game crashes CONSTANTLY, not just crashing the game, but the Entire Xbox... If you Exit Game every 5 levels to force a save it seems to be ok, most of the time I can make it 10 levels without forcing a save, but almost never 15.

most people (if not all) should know that playing the pharaoh's challenge is the best way to get points and if not, well now you know. instead of shooting out coloured balls you get to shoot out the golden daggers that can take out any ball with one hit. i suggest picking a map with a long straight of way such as village of the nile, carving the obelisk, and valley of the queens that way if caught in a problem spot you can just spray down the straight of way to save time. make sure to use the needle slowly for the first so many levels and try to get combos with 3 of the same color instead of just shooting them all out so that you get more points... yes it is only like 100 or so more points but do ten combos and there is an extra 1000 points for taking some time to connect 3 of the same color. try to aim instead of constantly spraying because if you get 100% accuracy you get 100,000 points for bonus compared to 19,000+ points for upwards of 90% accuracy. much faster than just doing the adventure mode over and over, but it will still take forever to do... good luck to everyone.

Certainly good advice. However, if you're looking to 100% the game, you might as well save this achievement for last. You have to complete adventure mode in easy, normal, and expert anyway to get three of the other achievements, and that will get you a nice bundle of points, so you might as well get those three first, and then get whatever points you still need after that using theman0893's strategy.

I am currently sitting at 212 million. I finished all the other achievements on 115million so its been a grind since then. I use level 23 as it seems to provide a good number of overlapping points and straights where you can rapidly shoot. Once I get to 1.5 to 2mill in a game I let the level end and restart as the levels get too long and the points/minute slows down. You can earn about 6 million per hour

Good guide, but one thing I would mention; give it some space. If you divide it up into paragraphs, it will be much more readable.

280,000,000 points for an achievement?
what did epic smoke crack and make this game too? (i know they didnt make this game)
veteran gear is easier than this... and for 19 gamerscore?

ok so 6 million per hour, 60 million for 10 hours, and about 80 million for 12 - 14 hours?
so 150,000,000 for completing easy, medium, and hard, and then after that you grind.

10 hours (60 million) + 10 hours (60 million) = 20 hours (120 million)

150 + 120 = 270 million and then about 2 more hours.
so 24 hours of normal play and 22 hours boosting?
omg...
and ALL THE MAPS LOOK THE FreaKING SAME~!!!~!~

I think you have grossly underestimated the time it will take to get the Adventure & Challenge of Horus achievements.

There are 88 levels in the Adventure Mode which will probably take an average of at least 10 minutes to complete. So that is 880 minutes (~14.5 hours) per playthrough, meaning around 45 hours to finish all three difficulties.
Add on to that the time needed to complete the 25 Challenge of Horus levels - say another 5 hours if we stick to the 10 minute/level average.
That gives us at least 50 hours of normal play before we need to start boosting (Bear in mind that I was probably being a little conservative with the figure of 10 min/level, the real time is probably much higher).

Also, I think your value of 150 million for completing Adventure mode is also too high. I'm nearing the end of my second playthrough and I only have about 20 million; I don't see myself earning 130 million on an expert playthrough.
I think you can probably expect to boost at least 200million of the required points, so lets say another 35-40 hours of boosting the game (if the rate of 6million points/hour is accurate).

I only earned around 50 million through all my 4 playthroughs. The game glitched on me in my easy playthrough and took away all 20 of my lives, but I ended up being ranked top 200 in the world in total score. Also, it only seems that two players even have above 150 million through all playthroughs.

First of all you underestimate the time consumtion to do a level, 10 min works on easy more like 15 on Normal and 20 on expert and 30-45 min on challenge of horus, because it takes alot of time reloading. of course it differ between the first levels and the last. and if you don't own a turbo controller i would recommend the levels: Carving the Obelisk and scarabic Dawn these I have record over 6 million on. if you rather play many short games go for the 2 track levels which grant you alot of points in yewels on the early levels.

If you're not into using a turbo controller (I'm not - but I'm not judging people that *are* ;) , my solution may be of interest... though it requires a bit of preparation.

I did my Expert & Challenge of Horus runs back-to-back, finishing with 26 spare lives. When you "finish" the adventure mode, you are offered the option of "cashing in" your extra lives for 50,000 points apiece, or moving onto the next difficulty level; when you finish Horus, however, you have no choice.

This meant that I got a 1.3 million point score bump at the end of the game.

Of course, I'd been diligently step-saving (and backing up my saves) through the entire game, so I had a save that was one ball before the end of the game. I kept that save safe on a memory stick and repeatedly copied it onto the hard-drive, played the level, and got my 1.3 million-ish points again. Rinse, repeat...

I managed to get my last 50 million points in 3 (yes, three) hours.

In theory, it should be possible to do this much quicker. I estimate that if you started playing at Easy, followed on to Normal without cashing out, then worked through Expert and Horus (again, without cashing out), you could finish with over 40 spare lives - that's 2 million points per iteration.

!!! IMPORTANT!!!

There are some gotchas with this technique.

1. Firstly - and most importantly - when you complete the adventure, it will automatically DELETE your save file... so make sure you take a backup before you finish the game and keep it safe! NEVER let the game load the save file off your backup! ALWAYS copy it onto your hard-drive, and point Luxor at that.

2. I had some problems getting the game to recognise the "completion" bonuses consistently when I just [ completed the adventure / jumped to dash / copied file / booted game ] repeatedly... but the following *did* work consistently for me:

a. "Complete" the game - like I said before, I was using a save that had be perfectly positioned for the last ball.
b. Jab "A" a couple of times 'til you're back on the main Menu screen.
c. Duck into Pharoah's Challenge (I used good ol' Balance of Maat) and play one level (you should be able to grab 200k easy); once you click through the stats screen at the end of the level, it will save your stats. Skeptical Mario also reports that playing another level in Adventure also works.
d. Save & quit from Pharoah's Challenge, return to the main Menu again, then select "Return to Arcade".
e. Copy your save file back onto your hard drive from your USB stick.
f. Fire up Luxor again, and repeat.

That above routine was taking me around 5-8 minutes per iteration, with each iteration netting me about 1.5 million points. Like I said, I got the last 50 million points I needed (I'd done a *lot* of Maat-bashing previously) inside 3 hours!

Yes, you need to have committed to 100% this game to maximise the usefulness of this method, and you're going to be annoyed if you lose your save file... But I hope this technique helps someone :)

I've used all the solutions above, so thanks to invuln3r4bl3,
theman0893 and x8Xero1sFinestx.

There are 3 things I would like to complete from those solutions:

1 - When using Horipad (turbo controller), you will make aprox. 3 million each time on Balance of Maat. After that, even horipad can't make it through. Just let it be, it will start again and get another 3 million. Over and over again.

2 - So, when you loose the match, it will start again cause the Turbo is on. You need to know that the points will stack. That mean that you will need 280 games of 1 million, for exemple. Or 140 games making 2 million points. And so it goes. Don't get worried if your turbo controller miss one ball. It will star again and count your points.

3 - Points? Yes, you can know if its working or not, just on the MENU screen, you can press A and will see your stats. Just use the x8Xero1sFinestx solution above to keep tracking.

If you're going to grind this legit, Pharaoh's Challenge accuracy bonus is definitely the way to go. If you complete a level in Pharaoh's Challenge without missing, you'll get an 100,000 point bonus. If you aren't going for this bonus every level when grinding for this, you're wasting your time. I found map 23, Balance of Ma'at to be the best map, for the following reasons:

- Balls move very slowly on this map, so it's hard to miss, and making chains becomes very easy, which can be worth some nice points. This also sometimes leads to getting the "Net" powerup, which is obviously useful.
- The path is long, so you'll often clear lines of scarabs early on, resulting in many gems as a bonus.
- There are two paths, so you get double the amount of gems at the end of each level.
- At the end of each path is a vertical section, which happen to conveniently be right next to each other. Once you get to the harder levels, you can position your winged scarab between the two paths and your daggers will hit either path. Or if you get bored while grinding you can just position your winged scarab in the middle and spam cn_A while you watch TV or something.

Remember, you can use cn_LT and cn_RT to move your winged scarab very quickly, which can be very helpful for collecting gems. It takes a bit of practice to get the timing right, but you'll get there if you keep practicing.

Also, if you're going for this completion, save this achievement for last. You'll earn around 60M-80M points earning the rest of the achievements, and you'll be able to perfect your accuracy skills. I was earning around 5M - 7M points per hour grinding Balance of Ma'at Pharaoh's Challenge. This achievement requires 280M points total. That's should be around 30-40 hours of Pharaoh's Challenge grinding. Good luck. This one will take a while. toast
