How to unlock the Maximum Air achievement in Mad Max - Definitive Guide

I found a pretty sure fire way to get this is by driving off the cliff on the west side of the map. It'll warn you about driving off the map and will reveal the location "The Big Nothing". Keep driving off the cliff and should be easily 4 seconds. Me and two friends have got it this way.

Drive to where the crosshair is....

Edit: Grimace221 kindly added.... For those wondering how good the car has to be, I had the best V6, the tier 4 suspension, tier 5 exhaust, and boosted right as I hit the ledge. This can probably be done with a lesser upgraded magnum opus. Also worth noting if you need more air time, try stripping down armor, and spikes, etc to lower weight.

I genuinely don't remember now. Haven't played this for quite some time. I think it may have been the opus with some good upgrades.

Cool,got it this way myself.Not sure if it was the same spot,i got it after the hope and glory mission i think where you end up finishing on the edge of a cliff.

Awesome - first time after trying a load of other places..(multiple times)
I was using the KILL BOX archangel and stripped off spikes armor, had top V6 engine and all the acceleration i could have.
Stats were around
TopSpeed (was at the first e),
Acceleration was at the t,
Handling was at the second n.

I have also tried several times and can't get it. In every case I had at least 5-6 seconds of air time, and I'm using a nearly maxed Magnum Opus. No idea what the issue is.

EDIT: Finally got it, in this location. Started from the very end of the marked road on the map, travelling roughly NE and jumping from the rocks that jut out of the sand a bit there. Boosted twice before I got there and once again as I left the ground. I used the Speed Freak archangel and then changed the tires out for sand tires (max power, min weight). I got less airtime than many other tries, but the achievement finally unlocked.

I removed grill and armor on my car to improve acceleration and speed and maxed out V8 engine, exhaust, tires, suspension and boost.

It took me a few tries (and an hour) but I got it. A couple enemies showed up so I killed them and drove one of their cars into the Big Nothing while diving out at the top. I tried to do that with the other car but I somehow managed to go farther than the car (too bad it didn't count toward the achievement since I survived, I would've laughed so hard...). I got it on my next try, though! Also, not sure why there's so many negative votes. Thanks for the help! I gave you a +1!

Best place i found for this is where you end up right after you complete act 4. You will end up at the edge of a cliff, where you can just turn around and boost right off. I got 6 seconds of air time there

You really need to clarify what you mean by "Crosshairs" because the typical and most noticeable "Crosshairs" are on the balloon to the east by your location icon. I'm guessing that's where the downvotes are coming from That being said, once I figured out you meant the big thin crosshairs, I got it first try. No Grill, No armor, Ultimate V6, max Exhaust, max tires, max suspension. Take my upvote.

I got this on the first try at an epic jump on one of the wastelander side quests later in the game. Once you accept it, the jumps will be marked on the map.

There's a jump in the northern part of Grandrise, near the transfer tank camp called "The Choke". I hit it with a nearly complete Magnum Opus (only missing the top level V8) and it popped as soon as I landed.

After spending scrap for the starting moderate upgrades to the car, I saw 2 gargantuan rocks (just west of Jeet’s) jutting upward. Drove up and boosted straight off the top, 4 seconds after landing the achievement popped.
I counted 5-Mississippi before touching down at half health.
Hope this tip can help out.

I got this by driving off a cliff to the left in the territory unlocked around Pink Eyes stronghold. You only access this area after you have completed act 2 of the story. The location is marked on the map in the video. I wasn't able to do this until I had fully upgraded my boosters and I removed my front ramming grill and armour to reduce my weight.

Although you end up off the map the trophy unlocks as soon as you land safely as demonstrated in the video.

In the course of the story missions max will end up on the edge of a cliff. Simply back up and drive to edge and nitro off this cliff and the trophy will pop as long as your Magnum Opus is built up well enough. You will die right after as you are completely off the games map however.

There are likely multiple places around the map with jumps where you could achieve this, but the most surefire way is definitely using some of the huge cliffs in the game. The most reliable one is one on the southwestern tip of Pink Eye's territory, out towards The Big Nothing. The best part about this location is that no special car upgrades are really needed here. Just drive off the cliff and naturally use a boost right before you do. You should easily get around 5 seconds of air off this cliff. For me, the achievement took around 10 seconds to unlock after landing, so wait a bit before assuming it wasn't long enough.

As a side note, it's worth waiting until you unlock and build the Lord Gravel archangel and using it for this achievement, as it'll complete one of the Car Combat challenges needed for "Up to the Task."

This trophy requires you to maintain 4 seconds (or more) of airtime in a vehicle (not necessarily the Magnum Opus) and land without dying. This can be somewhat frustrating if you try and get it early in the game, with many YouTube videos suggesting you drive off a cliff or mountain, however this can often lead to a lot of time wasted with no trophy.

The easiest option is to wait until the Magnum Opus is fully upgraded before attempting this trophy, then simply use a suitable wasteland jump to get it done. The image below shows a wasteland jump in The Colossus region, southwest of the large statue, where the trophy can be obtained with an upgraded vehicle without much trouble once you have a V8 engine and Nitro Boost is fully upgraded.

Guys, don’t worry about trying to do it like in the video. At the very end of the storyline (at the end of the 4th act of the game), Max will find himself in a car in front of a huge cliff leading beyond the edges of the map. Gas to the floor and off the cliff, if you die, you will be reborn in the same place - THE TROPHY IS YOURS.
If you like, you can do it like in the video or during a storm, if you’re lucky the wind will catch you with a successful jump, but why bother.

After the latest update that added the ability to disable the assistant, you can turn the car over and lie on the roof for 4 seconds and you will receive a trophy.

I received an unexpectedly funny achievement: I was driving to the fortress in a seized car, and on the way I came across the skeleton of a car buried in the sand (those that need to be pulled out with a harpoon). He began to knock it out of the sand with a ram. And when it exploded, I flew into the air in my car and somersaulted there (like in a battle) and the trophy fell out.

For those who decided to leave the trophy “for later” and missed the moment with the cliff.
We accelerate, go to the jump and on it we take a little to the left, into the canyon. And squeeze out the nitro. Location in the photo.

Got it by accident while trying to pass another test. From the western part of the map, already from the territory of the “Great Nothing,” I jumped off a cliff even further into Nothing, the storm caught up - and voila !!!
