How to unlock the Live Opponent achievement in Madden NFL 07 - Definitive Guide

You don't have to play a live opponent game at all. Just select "play now" from the main menu, then hit LB to switch to live opponent. The achievement pops right then.

****NOTE**** The servers have been closed for this game making this achievement impossible to get.

Didn't pop like that for me. I had to register at EA's website before it even let me into the 'play live opponent' area. Takes a bit to maneuver their website as it is not helpful. Check your mailbox and click their registration links if you get the same issue as me. Once I was registered on their site, it signed me into EA nation (their online servers) and then I was able to get the 'chiev.

Once I picked my team and pressed A, pop. Didn't even have to wait for it to find a opp.

This achievement did not pop for me either. I have a 30 year franchise completed. Could this be the issue or do I need to remove an update?

It may be worth a shot but I do not think the update or the 30-year franchise completed has any bearing on it.

The servers are shutting down soon on this game...Feb 2nd I believe. That may render this achieve impossible to get after that.

Just deleted all franchise and profile and now it worked. I would delete everything before trying it. It popped for me then, i also removed and reapplied all updates.

You do have to reconnect to the ea server to get this. It popped when it said searching for opponent. Not when I hit the LB.

Get this before the servers go down.

I played several games through the other online mode and I didn't get it. Then I checked out this solution and tried it. Popped up and got it, lol and I only had minutes left, thx for the help.

I went to Play Now, then pressed LB to switch to Live Opponent mode. The achievement didn't pop until I hit A to start searching for an opponent. Before I did this, I went through the online menus to accept the EA ToS. I'm not sure if that would have any bearing on allowing you to get the achievement.

Also a note for those last seconders: The servers don't go down today (Feb 2), they go down on the 7th. It's a bit confusing because many of their other games like NBA Live 07 were shut down today, but Madden 07 for some reason will live on until the 7th.

Like others have said, it's possible that the servers being down won't affect this achievement since you don't have to play a game, but I wouldn't count on it. Get it now while it's sure that you still can.

Fuck EA. There should be a huge petition and a big strike going on near their biggest HQ. Seriously, the gamer community needs to fight back and DEMAND what should be ours!

You don't even have to play a game, just hit the LB to select / switch to a live opponent. My guess is all that it needs (the game running on your Xbox) is a confirmation or acknowledgement from the server. Can't we get together to bribe EA into letting the server up for a two-week period for everyone. Like I said we don't even have to have a server strong enough to play a game just acknowledge a request.

It sucks getting burned on this. I think I got the game like two weeks after the servers shut down, and played it without knowing this was an issue. Of course, it taught me a lesson about checking out the online achievements and servers before starting a game if I want to 100% it. ***SIGH***

ACHIEVEMENT UNOBTAINABLE!!!

Sorry to all that read this...but you can no longer get this achievement.

I achieved it on my account, then a week later went to help a friend who said he was getting an error...the error was caused by EA shutting down the servers. When you select "LB" from the franchise screen, nothing will happen for a minute or two then the error pops up.



There is 100% no way to get this to work anymore.

I've tried online, offline, play now mode, franchise mode, and directly into the live opponent option in the menu. no matter what I do I get the same error (that the servers are currently not available, try back later).

I understand shutting down servers for old games, but at least update the message to be correct (servers won't be back up later).

would love to see the servers be up one day a month for old games so that achievements were still attainable

This achievement is no longer obtainable because of EA server shutdown. Sorry, but as of now there is no way to obtain this achievement and probably won't be anytime in the near future.

This needs to be completed in Franchise Mode, enter this mode and select your next game. Just before you select your Jersey/Playbook, you have the option to press for Live Opponent. Enter this screen, you may have to update your rosters, but after that process the Achievement should pop. You DO NOT need to play the game.

The server for this game is now closed and this achievement is no longer obtainable.
