How to unlock the 300 Rush Yds with the Jets achievement in Madden NFL 09 - Definitive Guide

What I found was the easiest way to earn this achievement is by using the intermediate play controls on rookie difficulty and unlimited rewinds.

Once you begin to choose a play, change the formation to 'Switch WR' (using LB/RB) and make your WR your running back instead. Because of that player's general speed vs. the original RB, you can get more distance, if not 1 play TD's out of him.

Good luck. Remember, the longer you set the quarters too, the easier you can accumulate 300 rushing yards... doing this method, I managed over 500 rushing yards total in 3 min quarters.

DO NOT USE SUPERSIM

Thought I'd get that out of the way right off the bat to keep you from being as frustrated as I was.

Steps for getting this achievement:
1. choose the jets and then any team with a low overall score from the game screen.
2. press x at the team selection screen and you can change the quarters to 3 minutes and 4 if you're not as familiar with madden gameplay.
3. after pressing A once you can then change the difficulty to rookie and then go down to rewinds and change to unlimited.
4. Start up the game

My favorite run plays that end up with the best yardage are the pitch plays both sides and outside handoffs. If you ever get stopped for negative yardage or anything less than 5 yards just hit the x when it prompts you for the rewind after the play and try again (usually the exact same route is better the second time). If you get the ball too many times too close to the goal (which you might because rookie is a joke) you can always use a screen pass and have your reciever run backwards back towards your own goal and run out of bounds near the 10 yard line. This will give you negative PASSING yards but not RUSHING. Then you have 3 tries to get one of those 80 yard runs to the endzone. If you don't succeed no worries use the methods below to get the ball back.

To get the ball back quickly remember that you can always go under settings and then gameplay and rules and set the "offsides" bar all the way to 0. This will allow you to put your guy on defense right behind the QB to sack him as soon as the ball is snapped ultimately forcing them to punt it away. Things to remember with this method is you still can not touch any player on their team until after the ball is snapped. Also your defensive player's first move after the ball is snapped is going to be involutarily to take his first step to return to where you ran him from so place him accordingly next to the QB.

To be honest if you choose almost ANY play from cover defense(choosen from play type defenses either cover 2 or cover 3) you'll get an interception which gives you the ball quicker and with better field position. If I hadn't already gotten the 6 intercepts I would have gotten it again in this game. Just sack the QB the first down and then let them throw the next one. If it was successful then just do a rewind and let them try to throw and intercept again.

If you find yourself with more time left to burn remember you can go into settings and gameplay and then rules and turn the play clock off. This means if you have possession of the ball you can go to plays by type and special and then clock management and then QB kneel and kneel the ball which will let the clock run indefinitely since there isn't a play clock. It will stop at 2 minute warnings but you can just kneel again to keep it running. DON'T SUPERSIM this will keep the achievement from popping.

Hope this helps

You get my thumbs up just on the supersim comment. What I did was simply used the RB for every play and had 350 yards early in the 3rd.. I figured that older Madden games allowed Supersim and achievements to pop, and then felt like the air was let out of me when I didn't get it. Should have read your notes first. :)

The current running back in the New York Jets organization is Thomas Jones. If you require an upgrade see the Miami Dolphins achievement for help. Somewhat like returning kickoffs, it is easier to go around people on the rookie setting. Tosses and pitches are good plays to get this achievement.
