How to unlock the No Offense achievement in Madden NFL 11 - Definitive Guide

Originally from here http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showpost.php?p=3400...

Two Controller Method by Philli Vanilli:
Player 1 (your profile) - Saints on Rookie
Player 2 (open profile) - Lions to Custom (+20 for all)
Rewinds - Unlimited

For the Lions (on offense), go to the playbook, "Standard Pass" and pick "Inside Cross." For Saints (on defense), go to the playbook, "Man Zone Coverage" and pick "QB Contain."

Player 2 hikes the ball. Wait 2 seconds then soft throw to the (X) receiver (tap button) and it will likely get picked (defensive player doesn't have to be controlled by Player 1). Get tackled and punt the ball back to the Lions. Repeat.
I only had 1 controller so I used my Guitar Hero guitar for the saints and the regular controller for the lions. I got the 5 interceptions within 3 minutes of the first quarter then quit after that and the achievement unlocked when it loaded to the main screen

This the best option yet. I had 6 interceptions in the first quater and that is because I stopped getting more. 6 minute quarters with accelerated clock.

Great thank you.

What do you mean:
Player 1(your profile) - Saints on Rookie
Player 2(open profile) - Lions to Custom (+20 for all)?
Mostly my question is the +20 for all. How do you do that and what does it do?

It's the difficulty. From the in game menu go to settings, then player skills, change the top option to custom and then move all the sliders to 20.

Just for reference All-Madden difficulty would be custom (+15 for all)

its custom difficulty makes it so u dont drop it and it gets intercepted. very nice man

...I can't believe it works - quitting to the menu.

It does though.

Excellent solution. +1

i dont get what you all are doing that makes it so magical. the dickheads keep on dropping the ball. ive tried to cutomize the players and maxing out stats and that doesnt work, ive done it without customizing and nothing, ive done it with the exact description above, ive tried it with different teams. it all equals alot of dropped EASY int's. i get 2 int's max. i am getting pissed. how are yous getting it in "3" and "5" minutes? these morons suck

The key here is to make sure you adjust your sliders like exit9500 said. I like many others who are struggling with this probably have these sliders set to zero which makes it extremely hard to intercept passes. For reference I was doing the two controller method and as soon as I adjusted the sliders to 20, I intercepted the next 5 out of 6 passes with little effort. Hope that helps.

Awesome! Adjusting the sliders on player passing skills makes all the difference

I did end up getting this achievement, the problem with this solution is that you don't have to wait two seconds. If you wait two seconds the interception will be dropped almost every time. I threw the pass almost immediately after the snap and it worked so much better. At the most you should only wait one second, even that is a stretch. Hope this helps!

I was a bit confused on this as well. With your first player control (the one getting the cheevo go into options and set it on rookie. then take your second control and go into options and put it on all madden so the 2 controls have different difficulty settings. you will know its working when the bar moves at different speeds for kickoffs between the 2 controls. great solution thanks

I was having trouble with this too, even after adjusting the sliders. What I found worked well for me was to have the Lions do a fake punt pass instead. Drop back just a little with the punter, then tap 'B' to throw it up into a group of defenders. I intercepted it like half of my passes throwing with the punter.

It isn’t a 100% consistent but worked great. Often the lineman furthest left would swat the ball away so I’d have to control him and move him away.

This doesnt work. very frustrating. For some reason like eagle, they will drop the ball 150-200 times. Just go play against the cpu. turn sliders down and I played as saints vs lions on gameflow w/ unlimited rewinds. doesnt matter how long quarters are because you can leave after 5 interceptions. Just make sure you are on rookie. your AI will intercept the ball. Got it in 5 minutes that way over spending 2 hours throwing to myself to drop the ball

Awesome solution Bro, pretty much 5 passes-5 picks, nice. Only took 1:13 seconds into the first quarter. Go Pats!

I agree with l3aD lVloJo, this method does not work like the comments might lead you to believe. I edited the saints so every player on defense was 99, moved the sliders to 20, moved them back to 0, no effect whatsoever. I spent 4 hours trying this method and got 3 interceptions total. It just doesn't work.

That had to be one of the most irritating achievements ever.

First attempt: I get 2 interceptions on first two passes thrown. Then 50 pass attempts in a row - all hitting the defender square in the hands, and they drop it every single time.

I had already done everything suggested above (including giving the Lions +20) - so I quit, and went into the Saints & gave Porter & Greer 99 stats across the board.

Second attempt: the first 10 passes hit the defender square in the hands, and he drops it every single time. Then I get 3 interceptions the next three passes. Of course that leads to 50 more passes where the defender drops sure interceptions. (And since every attempt includes a rewind, that's 100 passes in total).

So I switch out Stafford for the backup. No dice - my defenders are still dropping every pass - and every pass is hitting them square in the hands.

Finally the quarter ends. First pass in the second quarter: interception. Then another 20 passes in a row - all drops.

So I finally take the ball down and let the Lions score. Punt it back to them after the kickoff. Next pass: I accidentally throw to the opposite receiver - interception. Quit the game - achievement pops.

I got so sick of hearing Gus Johnson scream: "And he drops the sure pick!!".

One day I'm going to meet someone who works at EA - and then I'm going to go to jail - because my instincts are going to kick in, and I'm not going to be able to stop myself from punching them in the nose.

My advice: if you are having issues with this one, just be patient - it will eventually happen. It's irritating. It's not fun. It proves once again that EA developers are complete douchebags. But you already knew that.

Good luck!!

Here's how I got it in about 10 minutes:

Picked the Steelers for my team, Lions as the CPU.

Play on Rookie difficulty, and turn on Gameflow and Unlimited Rewinds.

I used 15 minute quarters to ensure maximum time to get all 5 INT's.

Set all the sliders in my favor, all the CPU sliders down (besides fumble, don't want them to fumble every time they run).

Whenever you are on defense, use Gameflow, don't take control of anyone who is running to INT the thrown pass. I took control of the defense who were trying to sack the QB and pulled them off as fast as I could (Keep switching players with B and running left or right quickly).

I picked the first 3 times the Lions were on Offense, took me a good bit to pick it the 4th and 5th times.

Use a Rewind if they throw the ball and it's not intercepted, should help give you an extra chance.

Achievement pops at end of game.

This is all about luck so if this does not work for you I am sorry, but it worked fine for me!

Once you get 5 INT's you can turn the playclock off and just run the clock down quickly.

i swear they make it harder to get the 4th n 5th one. ive just played games not really trying to get this. but could only get 3 or four when ever i got 2 they had brick for hands. i guess they do that cause there would be like 1000 ints a game if people could acually catch a ball that hits them in their hands haha.

LOL I'm having the same problem after the 3rd or 4th INTs during a legit game, almost like the CPU overcompensates for it. I haven't extended the quarters though, maybe I'll try that and we'll see!

I got this within 10 minutes. Play as the Saints (You) against the Patriots (CPU). The patriots seem to pass a lot more than the Lions. I chose 7 minute quarters and had 5 interceptions halfway through the 2nd quarter.

1. Turn all the CPU sliders down except for fumbles. You want them to maintain control of the ball so they can pass.
2. Play on Rookie level as your skill.
3. Use Gameflow for every defensive move.
4. On any play where you don't get an interception or if the CPU runs the ball, just use the rewind feature so that they get another chance and maybe you will get an interception then.
5. If they are about to punt you can either A) cause a penalty to get them a first down so the CPU continues to be offense or B) if they punt, just immediately punt on your first possession on offense to give them the ball back.

Once you get 5 interceptions simply quit the game. You do not have to finish the game. It popped for me when I quit it during the 2nd quarter.

I think the trick is to play against the CPU on the easiest settings. I tried playing agaianst the second controller on all Madden dificulty, and even played as the Jets, assuming their corners were good (reves, and Chromartie), but they kept on batting the balls and kept on dropping the interceptions (and I was playing as Chiefs).

Instead, I just played Pats vs Colts, put my sliders to max, and Colts sliders to 0 (pick any two teams, it does not matter). Played on easiest difficulty. 5 minute quarters to be safe, and when I played defense, let the game choose play. but when the audible screen came up, pick cover 2 or cover 3 (I think cover 2 is better). Runshing the QB makes him make mistakes, but at this difficulty, don't rush to sack. Having maximum rewinds helps. Usually when they get to 2nd and long or 3rd and long, it almost always is a pass play.

You have 4 quarters to get the achievement so don't sweat it. I only got 1 Interception in the 1st quarter so I was getting worried, but then I got 3 in the 2nd, and the 5th in the 3rd. Whenever you get the ball back, just punt it back to them, but don't pin them pack as they will likely run. Maximum rewinds help (but don't make the mistake of rewinding after making an Int (i did that a couple of times trying to rush the plays, lol)).

At the end, have fun beating on a team you hate (that I why I picked on the Colts). It makes the game more fun especially when you make them look bad, and listening to the commentary is also funny.

Start up a quick play game on Rookie difficulty. Play as the New York Jets and you can play against any team you wish. The Jets have two outstanding cornerbacks in Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. They are ball hawks and will most likely get most of the 5 interceptions you need. Of course, any of your defensive players can intercept the ball to count towards this trophy.

To make this somewhat easier, every time you end up getting the ball, just punt back to the other team. That will give you more chances to snag an interception.

This trophy will pop at the end of the game!

A few of these first tips will really help for a lot of the other achievements.

Change all sliders to 100 for user and 0 for cpu. For whatever team that you are using edit your Corners,Safties and Linebackers. Put their speed, agility, catching, jumping, awarness, man/zone coverage to 99. .If you are two controllers and a buddy this achievement will be a breeze, if not it may take a little while. You should set the time to 5 minutes, unlimited rewinds and turn off all penalties ( will help with other cheevos ).

Use the team you edited and play against a team like the lions or rams. If you have two controllers get your second controller to pick a pass play and put your defense in any type of coverage ( preferably a zone coverage ). Get the qb to throw a lob pass ( tap the button of the reciever ) and switch to the DB that the ball is going to, press Y when the ball is close to your DB and he should jump up and catch it.

When you get an interception try and return one for a TD ( that will unlock the swagger pick six cheevo ). If you're having trouble returning a pick get your friend to make the players dive by pressing x,b,x,b over and over.

if you have any questions please feel free to message me or leave a comment and ill reply asap.

*If you leave negative feedback please leave a reason why so i can at least fix my solution to make it better for other users.

The easiest way to pull this off is use two controllers. Set the Quarters to 10 or 15 minutes to give yourself time to play with. To make it even easier, play against your edited team.

Get them to pass using the same play every time. If you only tap the button to select the receiver, the pass will move slower through the air making it easier to pick. As the ball comes near, make sure to switch control so you are controlling the defender. Time the catch right, and you should be able to make the interception easily enough. Rinse and repeat 4 more times to earn this one. If you can manage to return the ball for a Touchdown from one of the interceptions, you will also get the Old Spice Swagger Pick 6 trophy.

It’s not really necessary, but you can turn on rewinds to give yourself a second chance to intercept on each play. Controlling both teams makes this a little redundant though. The trophy will unlock after the game.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Pick Up 6, Nano, Sack Master, Butterfingers & Old Spice Swagger Pick 6.

If you have only one controller, when the QB throws the ball, quickly hit until your selected defender is near the receiver. Hit to intercept.

Wait 2 seconds then soft throw to the receiver (tap button) and it will likely get picked (defensive player doesn't have to be controlled by Player 1). Get tackled and punt the ball back to the Lions. Repeat.

While testing out this method, I had 8 interceptions at halftime.

Achievement unlocks at the end of the game.
