Everyone keeps wanting to adjust rosters, that takes FOREVER.
Start a Quick/Exhibition Game with 2 controllers on Pro. Pick any 2 teams you would like. Have controller 2 kickoff, then start hitting B and X rapidly, making the opposing team dive onto the ground. Let your kick returner catch the ball and the computer will automatically start returning the ball. With everyone on the ground, the computer shouldn't have any trouble getting the TD.
Note: If you don't score, kick a field goal and miss, turning the ball over. Then have Controller 2 throw a Hail Mary while Controller 1 chooses FG Block. Then rinse and repeat.
Thanks for the positive feedback. If you need any more help just hit me up on XBL.

This is pretty much how I've managed to get many Madden achievements (long TD runs, etc.) over the past 5 iterations of the game.
Positive vote.

Thanks for the vote. Hopefully more people will find this solution helpful.

A very good tip! I figured out this one myself, when I was trying to get the punt return achievement. Haven't tested it on the Leon Washington Award, but I bet it works as well. To make it even easier, try to kick near the sideline.

also, you might want to add that it unlocks at the end of the game rather than right away!

Please explain the negative? Don't really see how that should come into play. I made this achievement effortless. Kick the ball off and let the computer run it back. Whatever.

I can't figure out why I can't get it. No matter how fast or slow I spam XBXBXBXBXBXB, the other team ends up getting me. It's frustrating because it should work. (No vote either way.)

To Sashamorning: it took me some time, but eventually I got it with the Bears against a created team. I drafted the worst team possible. Then I chose kick centre and return centre. I kicked to near the left sideline (from the Chicago point of view) and then started tapping X+B while holding the stick to right. I tapped quite slowly and got it 4 times in a row.

I will try this and see if it works. Even if you just hit the B button and made all the guys run away, this should work.

does a kick after a safety count?
By Paul Wesley 91 on 23 Jul 2012 03:15
No, that wouldn't count. That's technically still considered a "punt."

SmorgasBorgnine, I had the same problem, and your solution worked perfectly, thank you!!
By Mikeyoligy on 08 Oct 2012 16:32
@SmorgasBorgine thanks for that additional strategy. I had been using this strategy to try and get it but couldn't keep the players away from my returner. I tried your strategy and had it within a few tries, plus I also got the one for the punt return doing that too, thanks!

What morons down voted this. This is hilarious. One hand bashing x+b on controller 2 whilst the other hand controlling stick on controller 1. You cannot fail, why mess with rosters this solution is all you need. Nice one mate

Honestly, its unfair you got negative feedback. i didnt need your solution, i came here looking to see if i could quit the game once i ran 2 back or if i had to finish it.
But i am giving you a positive vote, because its unfair that some people gave you a negative vote. It works on the first try, everytime!

madden team you get by searching for a random team and 2 controls, with your buddy diving outta the way worked perfect. select 1 min quarters and finish the game, simplest 5 minutes ever

Returned 2 kicks and no achievement…
By RiIey on 24 Aug 2021 03:31
I used your setup, but I had a hard time with making them dive as they kept diving into my returner, so I paused the game while the ball was in the air and rubber-banded the analog stick on my 2nd controller to the right and manually controlled the returner toward the left sideline (I picked kickoff middle and return middle for the plays). All I had to do was tap the B button slowly and everybody moved out of my way.
