How to unlock the Deion Sanders Award achievement in Madden NFL 13 - Definitive Guide

Easiest way for me to get this achievement was to select a Prototype CB and play for the Dallas Cowboys. (You start as an 84 or 85 overall). I left all the settings default except the difficulty which i changed to ALL-MADDEN. When you start the league turn the off-sides slider down to 0. When you begin the season just keep playing games till you reach around 40 sacks. Once done save and sim to the end of the season. Just make sure you win the MVP award as that is the one that will make your legacy score jump at the end of the year(If you dont win the MVP just back out and re-sim). I averaged about 2600-3000 Legacy score a season with this method. Hope this helps

Jacking the Pass Defence Time and Interception sliders right up to 100 (or at least 75) makes picking off passes easy and clocking up league leader interceptions gets the CB a lot of legacy points (1000 or so per season).

And also, it keeps giving me TFL's instead of sacks. Help?

Leave the accelerated clock at what it was at by default. If you're tackling the QB and getting TFL's (Tackles for Loss, if you didn't know) instead of Sacks, it's because it was a designed run play and the QB wasn't able to get the ball to the RB before he was tackled. They are far less useful than sacks are, so aim for Sacks, for sure. Think of TFL's as irrelevant in this situation.

You know what would be great? If my guy could actually tackle. No way someone like Blaine Gabbert can break tackles like Adrian Peterson in the backfield.

This just doesn't work, they're way too quick on All-Madden and my guys just runs around trying to do his best to avoid sacking the qb :/

@Pure Mcnasty, thanks for the tip about using d-pad to blitz, I would've struggled to get sacks without it. Also guys it helps to change the slider for human tackles to 100 so the cpu doesn't break tackle everytime, it doesn't seem to effect the legacy score because I got 2,900 points after my rookie season.

I played 3 to 4 games, (a season) 7 min quarters, all-madden, averaged a little more than 10 sacks a game. The rest I sim. I always made a save point, after my progress, and each win. If I lost a game, I reloaded my last save. 40 sacks a season is all you need. Leave sliders alone, except (Offsides, and false start). (Pick the default play on defense, down on D-pad, left on RS, head to the front of QB.) Sometimes it's a tackle, but you'll have at least 10 sacks, by the end of the game. wink

If your DB is running backwards, try to edit his assignment (Using the D-PAD). As a DB you're going to be playing Zone or Man Coverage 99% of the time. I use the strategy of setting my assignment to blitz whenever the QB is in shotgun, and I put my guy on a QB Spy if the QB is under Center. That prevent him from running forward. The blitz should throw him right into the QB during Shotgun, but occasionally, you will get sucked right into a block from the RB. Hope this helps you out a bit.
To audible your character to blitz, press Down on the D-PAD twice. To audible your character to a QB Spy, Press Down on the D-PAD and then Left on the RIGHT ANALOG STICK. I just got out of a 20 sack game of a season opener. (: Good luck!

Start a new Connected Career as a Prototype Cornerback High Draft Pick for the Green Bay Packers. You can join any team you wish, but the Packers have a quarterback in Aaron Rodgers with a great offense and defensive stars that are young and will be around for many years. You want to join a good offensive team, because your team will score points forcing the opposing team to line up in the shotgun formation. When the opposing team is in the shotgun formation, it makes it easy for sacks.

Before starting your new Connected Career league, change difficulty to All-Madden (can leave it on Pro, but I suggest not to). Set all User sliders to 100, CPU sliders to 0, and all Penalties to 0. Leave rest of the settings at default.

This will take between 3-5 seasons to unlock. Make sure in the first five seasons to win the MVP award each year, Super Bowl each year, and by the fourth season break the all-time sack record of 200 sacks. After 5 years, you no longer get legacy points for them. Though, every year you still get legacy points for reaching legacy milestones in tackles and sacks. You will be required to return punts and kickoffs. Trophy unlocks when you surpass Deion Sanders legacy score of 8,300.

Each Season do the following:
  • Sim all Preseason games.
  • Play the first 4-6 games to earn around 40-50 sacks
  • Sim remaining games
  • Reach the playoffs
  • First 5 seasons win the Superbowl and the MVP
  • Simulate the offseason
The key here is to focus on getting sacks, MVP's, and Superbowls. Defensive players rarely win the league MVP and by getting MVP nets you a large amount of legacy points. Breaking the sack record also nets you a large amount of legacy points. You can run any defensive play, as with penalties off you can move near the Quarterback and wait for the snap to tackle/sack the Quarterback. Beware that "Encroachment" cannot be turned off so DO NOT run into any offensive players before the snap. Thanks to killingjoke87 for the information.
