How to unlock the Getting Defensive achievement in Madden NFL 15 - Definitive Guide

Just like the basic offense drills there are 5 objectives to complete in the defense drills.

The first drill is called 'New Tackling Mechanic'. In this you are tasked with holding LT to strafe an oncoming ball carrier and either hitting A to do a conservative tackle or hitting X for a risky high power tackle. You do not have to hold LT to strafe the ball carrier to get your successes and in fact, i did much better running free without holding it. Teammates tackling the ball carrier will NOT count. It has to be you that makes the tackle. If a teammate gets the tackle it will replay that attempt. You will need 6 successful tackles out of 12 tries to get the bronze. (8 will get you silver and 10 will get you gold)

Second is 'New Pass Rush Controls'. You will be rushing the quarterback in order to get a sack by hitting RT the second the ball is snapped. After that you will most likely be engaged with an offensive lineman. It will tell you to hit A or X to break away from him as the button flashes above your head. Time it right and you will break away and sprint towards the QB. Tackle him to get a success. Your teammates CAN get the sack in this mode and have it count for you. You will need 4 successes out of 7 for bronze. (6 for silver and all 7 for gold)

Third is the 'Hit Stick Tutorial'. You will have to Tackle a ball carrier one on one using either X or a flick of the right thumb stick in the ball carriers direction in this mode. Hitting the button to early will result in an improper tackle and running the ball carrier out of bounds will result in a redo of the attempt. You will only need 4 successes out of 10 attempts for a bronze. (6 for silver, 8 for gold)

Fourth is the 'Ball Hawk Tutorial'. The opposing teams QB will throw the ball to one of his receivers. You will have to hit B to switch to the closest player to that receiver and hold Y while the ball is at the highest point in the throw. If done correctly you should intercept the pass. Do this 4 times out of 10 for a bronze. (6 for silver, 8 for gold)

Last is the 'Oklahoma Defense'. You will have to make tackles in any way possible to prevent the opposing ball carrier from getting into the end zone. You will spend a few tries as a defensive lineman breaking away from engaging an offensive lineman to make the tackle and you will also spend a few tries from standing in the end zone coming up to make the tackle. 6 successful tackles net you the bronze here. (7 for silver, 9 for gold)

Once you have completed all 5 you will earn the achievement as well as a Madden Ultimate Team pack of extra cards for use in the MUT mode.

1) Adjust the skill level to "Rookie"
2) Complete skill trainer concept

I was skeptical about doing this at first, but quickly unlocked all achievements on xbox one.

TIP
You can also pick a team who's strengths will be beneficial to completing the drill. Such as picking the Broncos for passing concepts or choosing the Vikings to use Adrian Peterson for rushing concepts.

This method helps prevent CDM (Controller Destruction Mode) in console users. smile
