How to unlock the Threw down the Gauntlet Again achievement in Madden NFL 17 - Definitive Guide
1. Download GauntletCheese roster and remember to load it. (The Steelers won't be overall 99 but that doesn't matter)
2. Start up Skills Trainer and backing out until you get Bills as opponent then just choose Steelers and set to Rookie.
3. Start up Gauntlet and play through the easiest way possible.
4. Listen to that sweet new diamond level achievement sound popping!
Although XGC GunNut got some downvotes for some reason he was for the most part correct; downloading a customer 99 rated roster will work. I think this is hit and miss, though, as I downloaded the "Billz99" roster and it didn't work, however, when I tried Vikings99, it did (Rating as 98). Credit to XGC GunNut for this. Also, I can 100% confirm you have to complete Level 26. I got to 25 TWICE with no pop, got allocated a ladder challenge at 26, and failed each time, then failing the 25 boss. Stupid.
Anyway, the actually guide part now.
SET UP:
1) Download the Viking99 or Vikings99 roster by searching it in keywords, (can't remember which, will edit later with confirmation) which will give you a 98 rated Vikings team. Unless your console is somehow different, when you load the roster and go to Skills Trainer this WILL show the Vikings as being a 98 rating. Other "99" rosters didn't work for me. This is not my roster, and the credit to creating it goes to its listed creator.
2) Set Difficulty to Rookie
3) Always play against the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets or San Francisco 49ers (my team, cry). They are all weak, 73 - 76 rated, and will provide the easiest possible opponents. This is randomly selected; you can't choose the team you face. So keep backing in and our until you face up against one of these. I list 4 as you're more likely to get one of the 4 quickly and the difficulty spike between the 4 is minimal. It doesn't take long to back in and our, and the load screens IN the skills trainer are virtually non-existent, so it's worth the time waiting until an easy opponent comes up.
4) Go in with the mindset that if you have under 6 lives by Level 10, restart. If you die after, never restart (you might luck out with a ladder, or get a free life.)
I'll update with bosses when I can give better guides on them!
-Goto settings on main menu and be on rookie, use a pumped up roster for easier times
-Don't fret about ladder challenges, most are very tough as the AI is cheating with big players
-There is a drill asking you to run to the endzone only using hotspots, stay on the left side
-The boss challenge to run past all the defenders is easy as 3/4 just run straight down and are blind towards you. Only worry about the 4th
-If you beat a ladder challenge and skip over lvl 25 you get the trophy still
GLITCH NOTE – There have been reports of this trophy not unlocking until you complete level 26. It did not unlock for me until I competed level 26.
Welcome back to the gauntlet but this year the reward is only a bronze trophy as opposed to Gold’s in previous versions. The gauntlet can be tough but it really isn’t that bad. All the levels except for the Boss levels are very easy so you only really need to focus on beating the bosses. Bosses show up every five levels. Some bosses can be very annoying but after figuring out what you need to do they are all doable.
Last year's wrinkles make a return in this year’s version. The "extra life challenges" where you can earn and extra lives by successfully complete the challenge returns. There are also ladder challenges which can be very annoying or helpful; it all depends on if you beat it or not. Beating a ladder challenge will bump you up 3 levels; if lucky you can skip bosses this way, but on the downside if you lose the challenge you will be knocked down 2 levels; especially annoying if that makes you replay a boss level.
To make things even easier you can use my MEASYTROPHIES roster and use the 99 overall 49ers (when you select them from the skills trainer menu it will say they are a 76 overall). You can’t choose who you play against but every time you back out and re-enter the menu the opposing team will change. So keep at it until you are matched up with a low ranked team. Also, it will be easier if you play on rookie.
